View 3 RepliesA project has various local HTML & video files for pages. We need to be able to embed these videos in HTML pages - but because all are local files we have no server-side streaming.
Can I still just use SWFObject? Are there other well-known controls that will let us play .mp4, .swf/flv, .wmv files? This solution is targeting HTML4 across Chrome, FF and IE (I don't know if IE6 is needed).
I am loading an external SWF file into my main timeline. The external SWF file contains an FLV video. At a certain point in my main timeline, the SWF file loads and plays the video. Is there a way to say...
If the VIDEO (FLV) is done playing, gotoAndPlay(X)?
Create a html video list that uses a flash video player?
View 14 RepliesIn the cosmicpanda update for youtube, you can go from a video page to the video creators profile page while your video is still playing in flash. Does anyone how Youtube accomplishes this? I would like to know if it's possible to keep the flash state of a site constant while moving from page to page on a site.It doesn't seem as if the flash is reloading, so I don't think that they are just saving cookies for the current video time and starting the video at that point when they refresh.I would assume that they're using ajax, but the application of this feature is really clean. The URL gets correctly changed to the users' profile page's URL. The back button still works as it should. (I can press back and forward between video page and user profile page and the video continues going clean and never drops.)
View 2 RepliesI need to add a video player to play a video on a webpage. usually i use Flash player with the help of swfobject library. which works if flash player and javascript both are enabled.
I'm currently using XHTML 1.0 strict doctype. My question is can i just change my doctype to HTML 5 doctype and add Video player using HTML 5 video. for browser which do not support HTML5 i can a a javascript.
in this condition in supported browser Video will work without Flash player and javascript and in non-supported browser will work with js support.
How hard is it to use html links to call a video player and send a source video file? I have a bunch of links that need to show a different video in a video player. Im wrestling with just making a new swf for each page that is hard coded or one player that can take an xml file name (containing video path and other text data).
View 3 RepliesI've been trying to insert a video in a flash project that is hosted on a flash media server. I put the address wich by the way is [URL] and it doesn't work, I'm pretty sure that the address is right, am I misssing something?
View 2 RepliesI know extremely little about Flash, and have been sent a completed SWF file, which I have inserted into my webpage with the code below.The problem is that it starts playing automatically. Is there some way that I can add a parameter to the code below so that the video doesn't start automatically, or will the SWF file need to be re-created?

I've been spending hours now reading up on IE7's issue with rendering Flash content on top of other elements, particularly navigation menus (this is often a problem with dropdown menus and Flash ad banners, for example).
Update
At Mercator's request, I am providing a large code-sample to assist in any advice you might have. Consider the HTML below:

The footpanel uses jQuery-powered flyout menus, if that provides any further context. These menus have z-indexes in the 300X range to appear above the footpanel.The Flash in question is JW player playing a flash video or mp4. Currently, the object and embed tags are inside a container div.My understanding of previous solutions was that the combination of the param changes and the positioning/z-index change on the container div should have resolved the issue. Alas, it is not so. The player resides on top of the footpanel.Other information that may or may not be helpful is that the page is XHTML 1.0 Transitional and that Dreamweaver reports 1 error in the HTML code: <embed> is not in the XHTML 1.0 specification. This fact does not prevent the video from being viewed in any browser tested, and the page still displays correctly in FF.
I need to play videos stored on a web server from a web browser.
I was thinking of using Flash to achieve this. I found this article [URL]
Is there a better approach? Also when the video is playing or is paused, I'd like to be able to read the current time of playback from the browser (I guess through Javascript). Would Javascript be able to retrieve this time from the flash player?
I told my boss to use HTML5 with a fallback on FLASH.But he said he wants FLASH as the first option, and if the browser (ipad or any other) can't recognize the FLASH , it should play the MP4 file we got. I suggested HTML5 with fallback on Flash. But he wants the opposite.
Using SWFObject (google it) and a SWF Controller (like FlashMediaPlayback.swf).It's very important to understand that the iPad has limitations with video size. So the MP4 file can't be bigger than 720p and 160kbps for audio.
<div style="text-align:center" >
<script type="text/javascript" src="swfobject.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
var flashvars = {};

I have a NetConnection attached to a NetStream, which is in turn attached to a Video. As you can guess, this is a video player. I've looked through the public properties of all three classes and could not find an "isPlaying" property - a boolean that would tell me video is currently running (and not paused, stopped, nor corrupted). View 3 RepliesHow do you create the example like "Ninja unboxed 2". The flash video seems to take over the whole browser window. Or even better as the example above has been removed [URL]
View 1 RepliesI have a Flash video playing as part of a jQuery slideshow. But it seems not to be autoplaying successfully, and is loading very slowly. It usually loads on refresh, but not when someone first hits the page.The video is at link removed as it will be outdated shortly - we're moving to production; besides, the problem is solved.
View 1 RepliesI'm having great problems getting Javascript to resume a flash file.The flash file loads up and the video is set to autoplay false. For some reason, any Javascript is not recognising the AS3 function. It keeps saying the function is undefined. e.g.
function getFlashMovie(movieName) {
var isIE = navigator.appName.indexOf("Microsoft") != -1;
return (isIE) ? window[movieName] : document[movieName];

So I am relatively new to Flash and After Affects but I managed to make a nice video with Adobe After Effects that my friend wanted to put on his site. After I was done rendering it I used Adobe Media Encoder to make the .avi file into a .f4v file for flash. After opening that flash file with Flash i exported it out into a .swf file. When I opened the .swf it played perfectly, just the way it should. I edited my index.html with Dreamweaver and the coding and everything seemed fine. After previewing the index.html with my browser and Dreamweaver's Live View I was quite satisfied with my results. When I uploaded the files onto my site the flash did not play. It plays locally on my PC but not on the site. I later asked a few more experienced buddies what was wrong and they confirmed that they weren't able to play the file locally nor from the site. At first I thought I may have mixed up the links but they were fine. Here is the code I used for my index.html page.

A few months ago I viewed an SWF file (original.swf). Ever since, if I double click to launch a different SWF, it always and only plays original.swf. I've tried restarting, reinstalling... but with no luck. Why did it "stick" on this video
View 2 RepliesI am creating a flash presentation for something that I'm doing at university on Friday, and the video is the only thing in the presentation that isn't working.The presentation I have some words, music and video and the words and music are playing fine (but the music and video are on the FLVPlayback thing so I think that's causing a problem, but I can't see how I can separate them) and the video comes into play.When I put the actionscript - stop() - at one bit of the presentation, nothing plays afterwards, and I'm wanting the whole thing to stop at the end of the music, and when a line of the presentation to come up (which is the last line) and then the video is just the one thing that is playing, along with this line which is stationary under the video.I've used Flash before, but not with sound or video as I had no call for it, but now I do its not working.
View 18 RepliesAssuming a network hierarchy that supports video multicasting, what options are there today to tap into this stream from a web page? I've seen some references to this with Silverlight and project Star Light, which I unfortunately have no experience with. It also feels like a third option behind HTML5 and Flash.
View 1 RepliesI have a video playing on my page. I want to show and hide some div's when the video reaches a certain point. Lets say hide something on 10th second and show it again on 20th second.I can easily do it in HTML5 with video tag and currentTime attribute but for IE I have to create the same functionality and I think with flash based videos (from YouTube or something like that).Is there a way to detect the current time of a video playing on my website, embeded from YouTube, Metacafe or any other video sharing site?I know I could detect it in flash and make it run some JavaScript function but I don't have flash nor have the skills to do it in AS3.
View 2 Repliesbeen playing around with the video and microphone-in functions on flash. As far as playstation eye toy-style games are concerned was wondering if there was anyway of measuring motion in a video, or maybe colour in certain areas of the video.
View 1 RepliesI suppose the title says it all. I can load an external video file (FLV) and I can have it play. I also have the custom buttons made to control the clip. The only thing I have left to do is to have the main timeline move onto frame 2 once the external video reaches its end. I am using actionscript 3 and flash cs 5.5.
View 7 RepliesI've been using the "Reusable Preloader Using MovieClipLoader" from the tutorial section of this site.The only difference is that i don't use'm for preloading jpg. I load external swf files containing video. Everything works fine so far. The only problem is that the preloaded video already starts playing while preloading (at about 30%), but without showing the video.This is the code i have so far:
Code:
bar._visible = false;
border._visible = false;
this.createEmptyMovieClip("container", "100");[code].....
I built a timeline based player with 2 menus and many videos that you can play.The buttons move the timeline to a frame label and the video plays. The back button has a stop function built in it so the video stops playing when its hit.It plays wonderfully locally but once on a server after a few clicks it boggs down and sometimes the audio from the last video remains playing even when prompted to stop. I was pointed to use the add and remove child functions to prevent this but being very new to Flash and 100% self taught i have zero idea on how to do this. The link to the player is[url]....Even if its a link to a tutorial or something.

View 1 RepliesOn the Flash client side,how do I detect when the server purposely closes the TCP connection to its video stream? I'll need to take action when this occurs - maybe attempt to restart the video or display an error message. Currently, the connection closing and the connection being slow look the same to me. The NetStream object ushers a NetStream.Play.Stop event in both cases. When the connection is slow, it usually recovers by itself within seconds.I wish to only take action when the connection is closed, not when it is slow.Here's how my general setup looks like. It's the basic NetConnection->NetStream->Video setup.
this.vidConnection = new NetConnection();
this.vidConnection.addEventListener(AsyncErrorEvent.ASYNC_ERROR, this.connectionAsyncError);[code].....
