Actionscript 3 :: Synchronize Playing Of Multiple Video Files In Flash?
Jan 23, 2010I would like to have one controller to sync and control multiple video objects(start/stop simultaneously).

View 1 RepliesMultiple computers running a kinda of quiz (in asp.net). Every one of them plays a video as background (in the browser), sorta like a screensaver (with advertising). When moving the mouse a div pops up which allows the user to choose a quiz in fill out the forms. The catch is that the video needs to be synchronized on all the PCs.These are the constraints: The asp.net code is already there, so writing it completely in flash is no option. We know .NET, javascript, html, the standard webdev stuff best, so investing time is something new is a last resort.
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to play multiple video streams simultaneously. However, I cannot synchronize these videos to play at the same rate.
I have three 45-second videos in FLV format and I use flash.net.NetStream to play these videos. I call netstream.play() of these netstream at the same time (by using a for-loop). However, these videos are out-of-sync even all videos files are on my local machine.
For example, when the wall clock is at 10th second, the first video is at 7th second, the second video is at 10th second, and the last video is at 5th second.
I think it may be affected by different jitter delays when streaming. However, I still cannot find the way to solve this problem.
I have 10 to 15 different exe files which I want to play one after another, is there any way to play them. Do I have to make the batch file and play the exe file.
View 5 RepliesA project has various local HTML & video files for pages. We need to be able to embed these videos in HTML pages - but because all are local files we have no server-side streaming.
Can I still just use SWFObject? Are there other well-known controls that will let us play .mp4, .swf/flv, .wmv files? This solution is targeting HTML4 across Chrome, FF and IE (I don't know if IE6 is needed).
making two web banner commercials where a bottle is supposed to fall from one banner to the other. The two files are separate and I dont think I can communicate between them. I need a quick solution to make the animation start at the same time in both files (if one file is loaded quicker than the other). Is this possible? Ive seen commercials where this has been done, but I dont know how they did it. I use as2 but if you have a solution in as3 its no problem.
View 1 RepliesI have several SWF files which are essentially little trivia files, provided to me by a 3rd party. They are individual files that number about 20. I am wondering, how can I play this as a list; like a playlist, and then loop back to restart? I'd like to do this in the stand alone player however it can only seem to load 1 file at a time. How I might look to accomplish this looping playlist?
View 1 Repliesi want to load 4 different .swf at the time while my Intro is playing on the index page. yes now thats the catch. i am working with html. NOT the whole website is in flash. everything is fragmented and separate.[code]this is the website (lets consider so) and while my intro finishes loading and starts playing, i would like all the other 4 "SF*.swf" should be downloaded in the temp files of user comp, if done so successfully, while browsing through the individual html pages, they will not face the loading bar again n again (which becomes irrirtating for the user if they have to wait for each page and look at the % of bytes being downloaded )
1. is it possible to download all these individual swf files in the temp folder of the user comp?
2. if so, HOW?
For past couple of days i have been trying to make the .nsv streaming files to work in my flex framework. when i call it the data starts getting downloaded but i figured it out that the video object is unable to play this . I tried this for Shoutcast TV streams where i got lots of .nsv file formats.
So i just want to ask Whether somebody has tried to play the .nsv streams from shoutcast into flex.
I have recently "inherited" several websites that feature 1 to 10 minute video animations in SWF formatOne of my challenges is to get these files to appear or play in a timely manner so that the viewer does not loss interest as it is loading. My questions will start with file size.reduce or minimize the size of published SWF files while still maintaining high quality video output? Second, how about this business of preloading.I don't really understand that term but my thinking is that if a large movie could be loading while another, shorter, movie is playing, or a graphic displaying, that this could be useful in my case. Lastly, how about streaming in general. Are there ways to optimally use a given download speed to efficiently stream SWF video?
View 5 RepliesMy video files are not playing progressively off the host server. They do in simulate download: Here's the code for one simple module that plays 3 different f4v's on radio buttons. In theory they should stream progressively in a flvplayback instance called qualtestplayer when a radio button is pushed. But they fully download before starting to play.

I am loading an external SWF file into my main timeline. The external SWF file contains an FLV video. At a certain point in my main timeline, the SWF file loads and plays the video. Is there a way to say...
If the VIDEO (FLV) is done playing, gotoAndPlay(X)?
I have five videos playing at the same time in a .swf. They are each .flv files of the exact same length, I'm keeping them external rather than embedding the files within the Flash, and it's imperative that they each play at the exact same time so I'm avoiding using streaming. They all need to be kept at the same time code as any other of the movies at any given time. Is it possible to make a scrubber or other controls that will allow the viewer to move positions within these videos simultaneously?
View 1 RepliesI am using Flash Media server 4.5 and i read the tutorial if i want to stream the live feed, i may need to use the media live encoder.
but what i found in media encoder is i have to manually setup everything and it only support camera devices. But in my case i have multiple video files keep received from another program and place it on file system (server),my goal is use the Flash Media server to perform a live boardcasting with these video file one by one. That means when client watching a live streaming, they will not notice the server is playing mov1, then mov2, then mov3, then mov4... and so on.
You can imagine i am trying to boardcast a live footage say for 60sec, but the video file will not recorded entirely after 60sec, instead for every 10sec i will save a new video file, so that when client watching the live by HLS [URL]when the time reach to 10sec, a mov1 video file available and FMS should boardcast this video on live123.when the time reach to 20sec, a mov2 video file available and FMS should Immediately follow the mov1 boardcast on live123.and so on...Also can FMS dynamically create a new streaming session (invoke by code), so that when client A uploading some video files to the server, the FMS open a new streaming session only stream cilent A video files?the configuration to boardcasting like screen size, bit rate, etc should be pre-defined on the server. I've tried exporting a MOV file using Flash 8. I've tried converting to a MOV using ffmpegx. Neither have worked.
View 1 RepliesWe have developed flash video player which needs to playe large videos (at least 500 MB videos). We have some issues in the player right now.I am playing a 100 MB + video, it start playing and say it is buffering upto 50% of that video. Then I am closing that page. If I take that video again, it starts downloading from beginning. It never resume downloading from where it buffered previous time. But for small video files, this is looking ok. Is there any size limit a video player can buffer? Is there any better way to play large videos (more than 500 MB). Any other protocol or any other settings in flash player?
View 1 RepliesBefore I start off; I'm not a pro at Flash at all.
Folder structure:
start.swf
assets/moviecontainer.swf
assets/flv/movie.flv
What I want is to open start.swf, have it embed moviecontainer.swf which has a FLV playback object that loads in the movie.flv. When I check my moviecontainer.swf, it runs properly. But when I use start.swf it loads moviecontainer.swf (because I can see it has the background and all) but the movie won't play (and I think the buttons don't work anymore)
I have saved both .swfs with the "Local files only" option. I have no idea what the problem can be, as I said, I'm no Flash pro and I have no experience as to say "oh it looks like we got that xyz problem.."
I just upgraded to Flash cs5 from studioMX and find that cs5 won't play swf's from my old files properly.Does anyone have a fix or work around. I downloaded the lastest upgrade from Adobe's site and it still isn't working.

View 1 RepliesAs more and more FLV videos are moving to HD, I'm noticing high CPU usage and lots of dropped frames when playing FLV video in web browser with Flash 10. This is true even if the video isn't full screen. I've tried a variety of browsers (Firefox, I.E., Chrome) and the problem occurs on all of them so it's pretty clear it's a limitation in Flash.
Now my PC isn't high end (it has a Pentium M 1.86 GHz processor), but I can take those same FLV files and load them in something like Media Player Classic or Windows Media Player (when using ffdshow) and play the FLV files full screen with little or no drop in frames and an acceptable CPU rate.
This is especially annoying on sites like YouTube where I actually have to save the video and play it back in something other than Flash to have it play back at an acceptable rate. This doesn't work for other sites like Amazon.
Why is the CPU usage so high when decoding and displaying videos when compared to other media players?
In the cosmicpanda update for youtube, you can go from a video page to the video creators profile page while your video is still playing in flash. Does anyone how Youtube accomplishes this? I would like to know if it's possible to keep the flash state of a site constant while moving from page to page on a site.It doesn't seem as if the flash is reloading, so I don't think that they are just saving cookies for the current video time and starting the video at that point when they refresh.I would assume that they're using ajax, but the application of this feature is really clean. The URL gets correctly changed to the users' profile page's URL. The back button still works as it should. (I can press back and forward between video page and user profile page and the video continues going clean and never drops.)
View 2 Repliesinstalling Adobe FMS 3.5.3 seems to completely wipe out all our interactive applications, and I wondered if anybody else had the same experience.
Back in the happy days of 3.5.2, to add a pre-recorded file to a stream, we created the stream:
this.clientPlayStream = Stream.get (slrStreamName);
[Code]...
This is quite often seen on video sites(to insert some advertisements),
the newly inserted frames should be dynamically generated from the web server,
how to implement it myself?
I realize it is possible to play audio with Flash and HTML5 by passing a URL.
However, is it possible to get a reference to an audio file using a file browser (either with HTML5 or Flash), to then play this local file, again using either Flash or HTML5?
Of course, this should happen without the interference of a server. Since the file is already on the local system, it does not make sense to route it through a server only to receive the same file again.
i seem to be posting a lot at the moment but i am trying to get my Flash Skills up to date, hope im not annoying anyone too much. Basically i have a small project where pressing a button will trigger a sound, So when i click 'Button1' it plays the sound assigned to 'Button1', I have done this like the following.
[Code]...
Eventually i am going to have 20 different sounds, i know i need to probably assign each sound to its own individual sound channel. i tried manipulating the for statement to say something like var [i]Channel = new SoundChannel; in the hope that it would assign a number next to the SoundChannel thus making it unique,
I have different video files in my web folder. How i can play this one in flash player
View 3 RepliesWe would like to build a flash video player into our corporate intranet site, currently we are evaluating JW Player and have come across and issue accessing the FLV files stored on a mirrored share drive that all users have access to on the local intranet. From what I can tell the Adobe flash plugin will not allow a SWF file hosted 'online' (intranet) to access a shared directory that the user has access to. Is there any way around this?
View 1 RepliesI've been trying to insert a video in a flash project that is hosted on a flash media server. I put the address wich by the way is [URL] and it doesn't work, I'm pretty sure that the address is right, am I misssing something?
View 2 RepliesI know extremely little about Flash, and have been sent a completed SWF file, which I have inserted into my webpage with the code below. The problem is that it starts playing automatically. Is there some way that I can add a parameter to the code below so that the video doesn't start automatically, or will the SWF file need to be re-created?

I've been spending hours now reading up on IE7's issue with rendering Flash content on top of other elements, particularly navigation menus (this is often a problem with dropdown menus and Flash ad banners, for example).
Update
At Mercator's request, I am providing a large code-sample to assist in any advice you might have. Consider the HTML below:
[code]...
The footpanel uses jQuery-powered flyout menus, if that provides any further context. These menus have z-indexes in the 300X range to appear above the footpanel. The Flash in question is JW player playing a flash video or mp4. Currently, the object and embed tags are inside a container div.My understanding of previous solutions was that the combination of the param changes and the positioning/z-index change on the container div should have resolved the issue. Alas, it is not so. The player resides on top of the footpanel.Other information that may or may not be helpful is that the page is XHTML 1.0 Transitional and that Dreamweaver reports 1 error in the HTML code: <embed> is not in the XHTML 1.0 specification. This fact does not prevent the video from being viewed in any browser tested, and the page still displays correctly in FF.
