I'll need to take action when this occurs - maybe attempt to restart the video or display an error message. Currently, the connection closing and the connection being slow look the same to me. The NetStream object ushers a NetStream.Play.Stop event in both cases. When the connection is slow, it usually recovers by itself within seconds.I wish to only take action when the connection is closed, not when it is slow.Here's how my general setup looks like. Once the music file reaches the end (about 30 seconds long), I want to trigger the end of the animation functions.I figure I could either use an actionscript timer to trigger the end of the animation or a keyframe with actionscript that is placed on the timeline near the end of the song but these methods assume knowledge about the duration of the wave file. View 2 Repliesmy question today deals with Flash AS3 video buffering. (Streaming or Progressive) I want to be able to detect when the video is being buffered, so I can display some sort of animation letting the user know to wait just a little longer.
Currently my video will start up, hold on frame 1 for 3-4 secs then play. Kinda giving the impression that the video is paused or broken :(

NetStatusEvent from livedocs. It seems to me that the key status to be working in is "NetStream.Buffer.Empty" so I added some code in there to see if this would trigger my animation or a trace statement. No luck yet, however when the Buffer is full it will trigger my code :/ Maybe my video is always somewhere between Buffer.Empty and Buffer.Full that's why it won't trigger any code when I test case for Buffer.Empty?

In the cosmicpanda update for youtube, you can go from a video page to the video creators profile page while your video is still playing in flash. Does anyone how Youtube accomplishes this? I would like to know if it's possible to keep the flash state of a site constant while moving from page to page on a site.It doesn't seem as if the flash is reloading, so I don't think that they are just saving cookies for the current video time and starting the video at that point when they refresh.I would assume that they're using ajax, but the application of this feature is really clean. The URL gets correctly changed to the users' profile page's URL. The back button still works as it should. (I can press back and forward between video page and user profile page and the video continues going clean and never drops.)
View 2 RepliesI have created a FLV video player using the AS3 flash.media.Video object (not the FLV playback component) and I am trying to listen for meta events and Cue Points embedded in the FLV video but I am not receiving any when I trace the movie. The cue points are not being created dynamically, they are in the FLV video.

We have a custom flash video player. It uses streaming over a hosted FMS $50/month account.Some users are complaining that the video doesn't play at all.ith one of these users, we had them go to a speed test website and it was determined that they had a very slow connection which we are assuming is what is causing them to not be able view the video.So before we try to load the video we want to determine their connection speed. Then if they have a good enough connection we will play the video and if not then we will do something else like play a lower quality video or simply display a message and not play a video at all.

Second, if it is installed, is it possible to display a flash video in an Activity? I'm thinking you'd have to use a WebView widget within your Activity to display the Flash content instead of something like a VideoView. Is Flash even supported within the WebView widget or is it only supported by the actual Browser app?

View 3 RepliesI have an external transparent swf loading in to my movie. The swf has to be imported over a button element on stage. The swf plays for a few seconds than it appears to go off-stage... at which point I need to free up that button to be clicked.

The footpanel uses jQuery-powered flyout menus, if that provides any further context. These menus have z-indexes in the 300X range to appear above the footpanel.The Flash in question is JW player playing a flash video or mp4. Currently, the object and embed tags are inside a container div.My understanding of previous solutions was that the combination of the param changes and the positioning/z-index change on the container div should have resolved the issue. Alas, it is not so. The player resides on top of the footpanel.Other information that may or may not be helpful is that the page is XHTML 1.0 Transitional and that Dreamweaver reports 1 error in the HTML code: <embed> is not in the XHTML 1.0 specification. I told my boss to use HTML5 with a fallback on FLASH.But he said he wants FLASH as the first option, and if the browser (ipad or any other) can't recognize the FLASH , it should play the MP4 file we got. I suggested HTML5 with fallback on Flash. But he wants the opposite.
Using SWFObject (google it) and a SWF Controller (like FlashMediaPlayback.swf).It's very important to understand that the iPad has limitations with video size. So the MP4 file can't be bigger than 720p and 160kbps for audio.
