View 10 RepliesSkinParts are a great way to add event handlers and logic to an object that is instantiated in the skin, away from any business code. Often, though, I find myself wanting to do the opposite, and define parts that will be used in reusable, skinnable containers in the parent mxml files which will be inserted into the skinned containers.
What's the best practice for when you want to be able to define a control and a skin which can be reused with different controls inserted from outside the skin? Edit: A better way to put this might be that I want to use something that works a little bit like a SkinnableContainer, but that isn't limited to one area where content can be placed.
I have a puzzle. I have some test movie clips that areoperated (played) by pressing a thumbnail. All works ok in theresultinmg html and flash file that is produced, but when I importthe flash movi into DW, the controls disappear, but the movieplays...if you look at the link below you can see the flash moviecontrols in operation OK[URL](press thumbnail 2 to play the test movie)
View 4 RepliesI have been using a fl.controls.list object for awhile now, which is placed in an external .swf which I then load into my main .swf.
Everything had been working fine until today. Today I rearranged the .swf and moved the list to the 3rd scene in the movie.
Now whenever I get to that scene, the list crashes, with the following code. Is there something I need to to do include certain resources in that scene?

I have created a video, gone through the steps in flash cs3, and made the corresponding .swf and .flv files. I publish preview - html and everything works great, the video plays, the skin shows up and functions flawlessly. Then, I put the .flv, .swf, and skin.swf files on my hosting server put the html in my site code, and the skin won't show up. The video plays on its own, and the space is blank where the skin should be, just the skin is not there. I have tried most anything I can that I have found scouring message boards, etc, but none of the solutions are working for me.
View 23 RepliesI have encoded the Flash movies with the "ClearOverPlaySeekMute" skin and uploaded the swf to the same directory as the main video swf. The skin does not display. (in any of them)
I thought that the skin had to be in the same directory as the swf, althought I have read that some say it should be where the html file is. Since WP is PHP is is less clear where it should go. I have uploaded the file to the WP folder, to the theme folder, and to the include folder but it still does not display.[code]...

I have a SkinnableContainer.mxml file that the spark buttons will be loaded into.When I use the addElement() method within that mxml file like so my custom skin for my button does not show.

View 9 RepliesI'm using the default CS4 FLVPlayback skin, mainly the SkinOverPlayMute.swf. I know there's a skinAutoHide option, but because I don't want it to auto play, I want people to see a play button when they first encounter the video (so they don't think it's just an image). But the skin needs to hide when the video is actually playing (so the video doesn't get blocked by the controls).
In other works - when video isn't playing: skin showing; when video is playing: skin hide.
I extend Button to create ImageButton, and I extend ButtonSkin to create ImageButtonSkin. But, when I define hostComponent like this:

I get an error that there is a conflict with hostComponent:ButtonBase inside the ButttonSkinBase. How do I extend a skin AND provide a new hostComponent for it?

I am creating my own skin for the FLVPlayback component. I coped an existing one, renamed it and made some changes very easily.
However, I want my player to have fewer buttons. I had a go at removing some buttons from the layout_mc but when I published I found that the buttons I had taken out were appearing in the video playback area of the stage (I'm not really surprised it didn't work because the manuels say that layout_mc isn't actually put onto the stage at runtime, its just used for working out where things will go...)
ANyway, how to I successfully delete a button such as the fast forward

View 1 RepliesI have an elearning course, a .swf, that loads multiple .swfs as the user progresses through the course. At the end, there is a quiz. The quiz.swf uses the radiobutton component. I have developed some custom skins to use on the radiobutton component. I have figured out that:I have to add an instance of a radiobutton in the main .swf for the radiobuttons in the quiz .swf to show.I have to copy the radiobutton intance from the quiz swf library to the main swf library if I want my custom skins to show in the quiz swfWhile, this works fine. It is not practical. I want the quiz.swf to more modular. So I can pop it in to any course and not have to go back in and add the radiobutton skins to each course.

(feel like I want to scream!)In the library for the skin I get "fl.video.skin.FullScreenButtonOnOver" and paste this into the main timeline with some code like this.

I am importing a video into Flash using the wizard.When I get to the screen that asks about the skin for the controls, I choose custom and then type the URL:..for my player.When I try to upload the SWF that is generated, the player doesn't show up.I have checked the component inspector and see that the URL is indeed saved there and if you go to the URL of the custom player SWF, it loads.
