Flash AS2 - Accessing LoadVariable With Number On End

I have a flash that loads variables from a mysql database. It loads them with their id appending the variable. Example:
Variable Name:itemName
Id:1
var sent to flash:&itemName1=(item name in database)
Now the problem is in flash loading that variable with the added id at the end
Code:
onClipEvent(data){
t = this.totalItems;
for(i = 1;i <= t;i++){
itemNames = this.itemName + i;
_root.itemList.addItemAt(i, itemNames);
}}
But the list returns NaN. I so far have 2 items in my database so these are the values returned.
itemName1
description1
price1
itemName2
description2
price2
So I thought this.itemName + i would return the value itemName1 where i=1 in the for loop. Is there any other way to do this?

I wanted to achieve some basic functionality
loadVariablesNum("http://www.mydomain.com/cgi-bin/myscript.pl?act=NewArticle","0",'POST")
My script myscript.pl is designed to return an appropriate varibale value to load into this flash movie so te remaining logic will work.
Now my problem is this WORKS in standalone flash movie but when I upload the movie to [URL] for example this does not work. I tried to put a relative path to my script, even that does not work. I want to make the movie Flash 5 compatible.

i used a for loop to addChild of a class object(movieclip) to the stage and at the end line of for loop after addChild i push it into an array and i add eventlistener to it , such as
for (var i:Number = 0; i < 9; i++) {
.....
clip = new CLIP;
......

and if i want to get the array number which currently accessing how can i do that ? for example, i drag one of the mc class from the array which has already added eventlistener above.
how can i get the number of the array which im accessing ? evt.target..... etc ?

I would like to know is there any limitations in flash textarea like the number of lines it can have or the number of bytes it can have. iam opening a text file using php in textarea, where all the contents of the files are not getting loaded in the textarea. If it is there then how to increase its size, is it same thing in flex?

Inside my code i have some variables declared as Numbers, and i get some others from an external source; these variables can either be Numbers or String representation of Numbers. Now, i have to implement some equality controls on these variables, and since i don't know in that moment which type are them of, i'm converting all of them to Numbers (i don't need and neither want to compare strings) via the Number() function which accepts either Numbers or Strings as an input. These controls can compare 2 single variables or a variable and a sum (or subtraction) of other variables, for example:

I need to be able to round a given number to an even number that is divisible by 10, 100, or 1000 depending on it's size.
For example:
4 would be 0 -- Round to nearest 10
6 would be 10 -- Round to nearest 10
54 would be 50 -- Round to nearest 10

If I take a swf, and run it through swfdump
swfdump.exe -abc file.swf > ABC.txt
One the first run I may get some output in ABC.txt like this
ObjectConfig.as$60
And on a subsequent run of the same SWF get a different output

I get the right number when I click on only '+' or only on '-'But if I click '-' until 0.7 and '+', it stays at 0.7
The same append when I click '-' until 0.9 when '+', it stay to 0.8. Why? How can I do to increment or decrement a Number by 0.1?

I have the following PHP file with a variable I am trying to access to place in a dynamic text box on my flash stage.
PHP code:

The code was adapted from a tutorial using a class. However I do not get on with classes so wont be using any.

I've been trying to access my webcam on my macbook pro using flash cs4 in an attempt to try and use the live feed to detect levels of motion and from there use that information to alter / animate an image on the screen (idea being more movement = more change in image), however I cant seem to get my webcam to even stream out and play on a flash file.
The code I am using is:

var video;
camera = Camera.getCamera();
video = new Video(camera.width * 2, camera.height * 20);
video.attachCamera(camera);
addChild(video);
end code
And when I run the file it asks for me to grant access to webcam / microphones (which is what it should do) but it doesnt stream to the file.

In Flash CS5 I have a button with an instance name "btn", which is made up of movie clips with instance names "mv1" and "mv2".
The question is: can I use gotoAndStop or something similar on the movie clips inside the button from the stage in which the button is instantiated. In pseudocode:
btn.mv1.gotoAndStop(3);
btn.mv2.gotoAndStop(7);
