Flash :: Video Recording From Browser Using PHP - Red5
Oct 28, 2011
I wish to build an application using which I can record video (along with audio) and also audio (only audio preferably in mp3 format). From some research I did, I found I need a client app in flash or flex, a RTMP Server (RED5 preferable as its free) This is the code which I used to get cam working flash.
var camera:Camera = Camera.getCamera();
var video:Video = new Video();
video.attachCamera(camera);
addChild(video);
The problem is, I don't know how to send the stream to RED5. Also, what do I need to do so that I can store the video according to the user. The website I am creating is in PHP/MySQL and need to have their own videos and audios recorded. I love the way facebook has integrated Video Recording.

I'm trying to implement a flex app that will be able to record a video from a webcam and then upload it to a server. I've only found tutorials and examples that require a media server running such as Red5, Flash Media Server and Wowza and an open rtmp stream to the server. However, I want to know if it's possible to record a video locally and then submit it to the server with a simple HTTP request. Is there a tutorial somewhere that shows how to do this? I'm really new in flex development

i'm developing a web site, and i'm trying to let the user record some video from his webcam. I'm using actionscript and flash media server. I got it work in my delevoper enviroment, but when i deployed it to the production server, the webcam can't get connected to the FMS. I'm afraid this is because of port blocking from the firewall. Does anyone knows wich ports are userd for recording from a browser by the Flash Media Server? I open the 1935 port in the Flas Media Server, but it still doesn't work.

Let me first establish what I want to do:My user is able to record voicenotes on my website, add tags to said notes for indexing as well as a title. When the note is saved I save the path of the note along with the other info in my DB.Now, I have 2 choices to do the recording, both involve a .swf embedded in my site:
1) I could use Red5 server to stream the audio to my server and save the file and return the path to said file to my app to do the DB saving, seems rather complicated since I would have to convert the audio and move it to the appropriate folder that belongs to the user in a server side Red5 app, which I'm not very aware of how to build.
2) I could simply record the audio and grab its byte array, do a Base64 encoding on it and send it to PHP along with the rest of the data that is necessary (be it by a simple POST or an AJAX call), decode it on the server and make the file with the appropriate extension, audio conversion would also occur here using ffmpeg, this option seems simpler but I do not know how viable it is.

I´m having problems with h.264 in Flash. My idea is streaming a h.264 video from Red5 to a Flash client with ActionScript 3 or 4. The original code supports streaming video in .flv format with Sorensen and I would like to support .flv format with h.264 encoding.This is my original code:
play_btn.play_symbol_txt.background = false;
stop();
isPaused = true;[code]............

I'm trying to send a video stream to a Red5 server using Flex.
My Red5 setup seems to work for remote method invocations and shared objects, but I've yet to succeed in getting video working.
This is the AS3 code that connects to Red5:
# connect to RTMP server
netConnection.addEventListener(NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS, netStatusHandler);
netConnection.connect("rtmp://localhost/context_name");
# omitted code for waiting for connection success, and setting up shared
[Code].....
As said, note that the Red5 setup works flawlessly for remote method invocations and shared objects, but not for video which is strange.

I'm going to do a voice recording plugin/addon on a website that will record audio and send it to the server for further processing. I have had two suggestions; either write a java applet or use flash. The service is supposed to work for all major browsers(IE, Firefox, chrome,..). I'm new to this area of development and is looking for tips on how to proceed with this. What is the pro's and con's for each solution?
For java applet, what Java speech API library do you recommend? I want a simple, small library, I only need voice input. Also, I am puzzled by Flash development, I can't find any good information about development, the adobe website dosn't make much sense. What is the programming language for flash, and how do you actually run it in html code? I have found ActionScript 3, is that used to create Flash plugins and can it perform voice recording?

I am planning to create a video conferencing application finally in flash using RED5. But i don't know flash. Is there any readymade free video conference program available that i can directly integrate in my website? If not, then can anybody point me to from where should i start? Because gaining microphone and webcam access programmatically seems very daunting to me.

I just met a piece of error log when I was trying to resume the paused mp4 streaming. Here is the log from the server:
[INFO] [NioProcessor-1]
org.red5.io.mp4.impl.MP4Reader - Frame
position was not found for timestamp:
92000
I'm using Red5 newest 0.9.1 final for mac os x to stream the H.264/AAC encoded MP4 file to my flash app.
And there's no problem when I'm resuming the .flv file.

need some help in recording the H.264 video using Flash media server 3.5, does anyone have working experience (or) any idea about H.264 video recording with the Flash player. I am trying to publish the stream using the netstream.publish(mp4:streamname.mp4); but the video codec id of this recorded video is coming as H.263, hence I tried to record the video in H.264 format.I am using logitech webcam for capturing the video.
Do i need to install anyother codec plugin for h.264 support?

I want my users to record audio/video and post that to other users.
Is it possible to record video through Flash's and receive encoded video on server side without any further processing (i.e. just saving the stream to a file)? I did some Google search and found that it's possible with new microphone API [URL] Did anyone tried that already? How easy is to use Red5 server for recording? How can i get the recorded video/audio file(s) from it? DO i've to write some logic for this?

I am planning an implementation for a lecture capture solution for a local university. It is supposed to record all aspects of the lecture: the presenter will be recorded using videocamera + mic, his desktop activity is captured and optionally the whiteboard is captured as well (using Mimio). These input streams arrive (as video streams) to a computer that stores the recording on its harddisk. The file format for the recording should be able the hold multiple streams (Matroska for example).
The recording will be available from the uni's website. So at the client-side Flash seems a natural choice.
The player should display the different input sources into different rectangular regions of the player. One region displays the presenter, another region displays the desktop recording.
Is it possible to use a Matroska file as source for Flash streaming? If yes, how?
If no, is there another container format more suitable for this? The FLV format can only hold one audio and one video file. Is it possible to have one Flash client receive multiple streams and diplay them in different regions of its own canvas?

I have performance issues with my test web chat app - video playback is very slow on, around 1 frame per few seconds at 640x480, 15fps, quality: 90. Network usage is low (gigabit LAN), cpu's still have some headroom so it should be the software.
Quick description of my setup:red5 0.9.1; simple flash broadcast and subscribe derived from here [URL] and mr. accattato's videos; using oflaDemo on serverside.
Local image on the broadcaster is good.So far I guess flash broadcaster would be the most likely culprit, but here is my worst since I am new to flex. Red5 should not modify the stream I guess, and it doesn't make much sense for the subscriber to play only 1 frame per second.

I am writing a Red5 application that provides 1-on-1 video chat to a Flash client over RTMP.
Unfortunately most tutorials I was able to find were sketchy at best and the documentation of Red5 itself tends to be vague when it comes to API concepts and intended usage.
In short, I am a bit stuck and looking for hints on Red5 ApplicationAdapter implementation. Gnarly details are as follows:
First of all, the connections come in two flavors: visitors and consultants. A visitor should be able to indicate which consultant it wishes to communicate with. A consultant simply gets connected to the requesting visitor as long as the consultant is not busy servicing another. Obviously, every RTMP connection has two-way traffic: both sending and receiving video. From the standpoint of the server, connections bring in a bunch of video streams that get their receiving endpoints assigned by request. Since several video conversations can be in progress simultaneously, the main task of the application is to handle the mapping of visitor streams to consultants and provide a list indicating each consultant's state (busy/available) via AMF.
So, all in all, I have a pretty good idea what I am aiming for but how to achieve it with Red5 is still a bit of a mystery.
What is the easiest way to establish the connection type (visitor/consultant)? Which API classes should be used to implement a persistent, globally accessible list of active connections for reporting the state of each consultant? How to switch receving endpoints dynamically when the goal is to connect a specific visitor to the selected consultant?

If one wants to record sound from the microphone input in the browser one can do so today through Flash. (Afaik there is currently no other good option which works across browsers.Is there a simple swf-plugin which allows one to do so? That is,with the options "Start recording", "Stop recording", "Get wave of recorded sound (or similar)".

I'm looking for a flash script/library to capture video and audio from a webcam and then somehow get a saved flv to my encoding server. I'm not looking for something that will host the videos for me. I just need something simple to capture and then upload. I really want this to be open source and free.
I've done a fair amount of searching and it seems that most of what i can find is either a full blown service with hosting, or the red 5 suite. I've been trying for a day to get something going on with Red5, but honestly I haven't done any flash or java development in over 6 years and this seems way too complicated when all i really want is a flash object i can stick on a webpage.

I am trying to build a web application that can capture audio and video from a web cam and upload it to our server. The solution should work with both Windows and Mac. Supporting mobile devices would be a plus, but is not required. My boss would prefer if the platform/framework was from Microsoft. My initial impulse was to start looking into SilverLight. Interestingly, there were plenty of demos showing how to capture video and display it to the user, As far as I can tell SilverLight will not record video.
I already have a component that can record video in a winforms application using DirectShow, but the goal is to build something that is cross-platform so that our program will work for Mac users as well as Windows users. A desktop application is not out of the question, but we would much prefer to stick to a web page. I am aware that Flash can record video from within a browser, but the higher ups would prefer to avoid flash. Is there any other way to record video captured from a user's webcam from within a web browser?
