Here's the example:

Why does this not work? "column" ends up null. ColumnChart is a derived class of CartesianChart, so I would have thought I'd end up with a ColumnChart with a width of 100.
So I just started using JASON to make my application data driven. I'm not doing any encoding, only decoding (I encoded once to create an example data layout). My question is, how come I can't cast the data that I read in into the object that it is? In my app i am pushing data into an array collection. When I debug or trace the AC i get [object Object].

I have a tree with nodes , and a delete button , first user select the node and click this delete button , I want this node to be removed from the tree , Its not XML , every node in tree is of type Object

The issue is that (with tree:HierachyTree) neither tree.maxVerticalScrollPosition nor the protected property tree.verticalScrollBar .maxScrollPosition updates when the search string is changed.I've tried calling invalidateList() and invalidateDisplayList() on tree — and calling invalidateDisplayList() and invalidateSize() on tree.verticalScrollBar — to no avail.
I have an action script Object that contains an array collection of other object, both objects are reflects of the Java Objects which are the database tables represented as beans, i am using blazeds spring hibernate... the regular configurations for flex RIA with java backend server language, all other objects work perfectly, but this time i needed to get this data from the client side and i do, but when i get into the Set represented as array collection in client side i get this error! both classes work for other situations, mapping is ok for these classes, i suspect that i need to convert the array collection on the server side.

I have a Flex tree control that holds a tree full of various types of objects. I'd like to change the label of the item based on this type (and other properties). I'd prefer to do this in a custom TreeItemRenderer rather than via label or labelfunction.It seems that whatever I do, I cannot typecheck nor cast the objects and thus I get [Object object] in the nodes of my tree. I have the code in one of my flex file used as labelFunction in a DataGrid.When I run the FlexPMD to do the code review, it generates an objection about the dynamic type object used in the following method signature and it suggests to use strongly type object.

Everything seems to be a string right now & that kinda ruins the whole xml as an internal data structure thing, I don't need a big tree of string I need typed data :-/ Are there any changes I can make to either my XML files or my AS3 code that will force it to cast ints as ints and Numbers as Numbers? Or maybe some kind of type schema I can impose? Not really worked with XML til recently so chances are I'm just ignorant of the canonical way to deal with this...

In order to compute dynamically the string I wrote:
e.item.(myStr.toString()) where myStr (type string) = "fatturato_ac_s" + Index (so I can have fatturato_ac_s1, fatturato_ac_s2, ...)
I can correctly retrieve the value of e.item.(myStr.toString()) (a numeric value), but if I try to put it in a variable I get the error in the title:
myVariable = e.item.(myStr.toString())
myVariable is a Number.
I also tried:
myVariable = Number(e.item.(myStr.toString()))
But doesn't work... the same if I try String to String....

My application currently contains a number of Widgets that are managed by a Widget Manager. When the user clicks on a widget (e.g. a Helper widget), the Widget Manager loads the widget into a separate sibling application domain with the following line of code:
wgtInfo.load(null, null, null, moduleFactory); //wgtInfo = IModuleInfo
However, I am unable to use the widget's variables and functions later on. I attempt to find the Helper widget from the Widget Manager's list of widgets, and I do successfully. But when I try to caste the Helper Widget from type IBaseWidget (the interface all widgets share) to type HelperWidget, I receive the following error:
TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed.....
This is because the application domain of the class trying to use the Helper widget is different from the application domain of the Helper Widget. I tried to fix this by loading all widgets into the same application domain as the loader:
wgtInfo.load(ApplicationDomain.currentDomain, null, null, moduleFactory);
I now get the following error whenever I attempt to load the Helper widget:
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
How can I load my Helper widget into a common application domain that is accessible by the other widgets?

I'm using as3corelib to decode/encode JSON strings. In my little experiment I want to encode an object (UserInfo) to JSON string and decode it back to the object, however it seems to fail at the convertion point (the last line), why would that happen? how can I make it work?

I have a flex application with two objects: a parent widget (called an IBaseWidget) and a child widget (called a HelperWidget2).When the user clicks on a help link, a helper widget is loaded into the list of base widgets and then displayed for the user.However, when I try to access this child widget by casting the base widget in the collection to the child widget type,the child widget returns null and I am unable to work with the widget.The following snippet correctly returns the widget ID of the newly added widget and dispatches an event to load the widget:

Im trying to connect a Flash client to BlazeDS. There has been some success with this from others using the vanilla BlazeDS setup. However I'm using the new Spring BlazeDS Integration from springsource and running aground. The flash client actually seems to be working in that I can see the correct data in the body of the returned object, but for some reason unknown it fails casting as an IMessage. It fails in PollingChannel.as on this line with the subject line error
