I am trying to Skin a "hightlight" of a DropDownList item. I can not find any documentation on changing the skin of the items hightlight / rollover skin. How to do this?

I have an array of items that should be selected in my tree control. As you can see from my code below, I bind this array to the selectedIndices property of the tree. The selected Items are not properly selecting in tree(selecting some other items and always root is selected).Flex seems to "ignore" my items (selects some other indices).

View 1 RepliesI have built a basic theme for my Flex app. I would like to add support for additional predefined themes. By default, app has a theme and I would like it to change when user selects a theme from dropdown list. This can be done by loading a swf file using styleManager. However, all the skins have colors hard-coded in them. So, in order to achieve this I would have to duplicate skins and change value of the colors.
Is there a better way of doing this? Can I just have a skin that will change color values dynamically based on user selection?

SkinParts are a great way to add event handlers and logic to an object that is instantiated in the skin, away from any business code. Often, though, I find myself wanting to do the opposite, and define parts that will be used in reusable, skinnable containers in the parent mxml files which will be inserted into the skinned containers.
What's the best practice for when you want to be able to define a control and a skin which can be reused with different controls inserted from outside the skin? Edit: A better way to put this might be that I want to use something that works a little bit like a SkinnableContainer, but that isn't limited to one area where content can be placed.

I extend Button to create ImageButton, and I extend ButtonSkin to create ImageButtonSkin. But, when I define hostComponent like this:
public var hostComponent:ImageButton
I get an error that there is a conflict with hostComponent:ButtonBase inside the ButttonSkinBase. How do I extend a skin AND provide a new hostComponent for it?
I am using a ContextMenu for an AdvancedDataGrid in my application. I could implement the normal context menu for the grid. Now, I am planning to make the context menu dynamic.For example, if I click on a particular cell, I need to see only the items related to that cell in the Context Menu. Is there any way we can do that?
View 3 RepliesI have created a tile list with custom item renderer and in terms of functionality it works as it should. I reduced the width and height of the item renderer to 95% which then shows the tile lists background in the remaining 5% of that item. The problem is that only when I hover over the item, the background is covered up and I cant get a gap to appear between items. Is it possible to change the height and width of the hover over?

View 1 RepliesI've got an area that, when you rollOver, tweens out a group of menu items. These menu items change colour when you mouseover. When you rollOut of the whole area, the menu tweens back. It seemed like the most simple thing to do, but it keeps giving me trouble! What I've got at the moment is an invisible symbol over the top of the rollOver area, including where the menu sits. The menu items are individual buttons for the mouseOver effect. I've got a full page invisible area (my standard technique - I call it "blockout") sitting right at the back, so when you rollover that (and off of the invisible area) the menu tweens off.
I can't just use rollOut invisible area because hovering over the buttons triggers that response and causes the menu to tween off. I've had to do plenty of similar things for work (apparently 'basic flash' to them meant I can do complex AS-based apps), and just tend to use my blockout method, but now that it's my own site, I'd like to do it right! If anyone knows a better way to do it,

View 2 RepliesI'm creating a facebook application in flex. I'm actually working on the friends component that shows your friends who are using the application. now, each friend has a profile image.
I created the component using a s:List element.
In the Skin Class of the element i configured the requestedColumnCount to 3, which means it shows 3 friends. i added buttons to scroll left and right in the list.
Whenever I scroll to see a different friend, for a half of a second i see no image because the List component is loading the image in order to view it.
is there a way to make the list preload all the elements so i won't have this kind of problem ?

I have a supplied video.flv that I have in Flash with a skin control and exported as video.swf and inserted into a GoLive site, all is well apart from the excessive sound. The volume controller is defaulted to max and I would like to reduce the default volume by about 50%. Is this possible to do in Flash before exporting the video.swf.
