how can i make it so when the user rollsover the image loaded, it darkens to appear highlighted?
I've completed the tutorial to create a photo gallery using flash and xml, and have gone on to add the thumbnails. Everything works as intended, but now I would like to add another feature... I'd like to highlight the thumbnail that coordinates with the current image (maybe at 100% alpha while the others are only at 50% or something along those lines). Any suggestions, building off of this:[URL] ?

View 5 RepliesI have created one static movieclip and in that movieclip i have created "i" dynamic movieclips.On the dynamically created movieclip i am loading swf(Swf consists of a Preloader and then image appears).All these swf values and link(url) values i get by parsing an xml string in the FLA itself...Now the problem starts here...There are links on these dynamically loaded swf's....And I have given static rollover effect on the swf by making image as a button..Now what happens is that i have written onRelease Function in code and in that i m getting link on images(SWF) using getURL in on EnterFrame function and i am not gettin the rollover effects that i have created in static.

I would like to, instead of letting the thumbnail_mc's scroll when you rollover them, have buttons on either side that scroll (slow when mouseover and fast when pressed) the mc's instead. Here is what I have, which doesn't seem to work:

View 13 RepliesI'm working on creating a gallery for my portfolio site. I have thumbnails of all my work. I've turned them into button and made it so when you rollover it, a larger preview of it appears with a description of the piece, off to the side in a designated area. Instead of making my stage larger or creating more pages to contain all my thumbnails, I made a vertical scrollbar. The scrollbar works just fine. The problem is when the thumbnail is moved, the rollover that would be moves in relation to it.how can I absolutely make sure that any rollover I create with a button is where I want it to be, no matter where the thumbnail moves to?

In IE 6 I have FP 7.0.19.0 and I can see all thumbnails in the navigation bar - also correct.
View 8 RepliesFollowing some tutorials, I coded for a thumbnail scroll panel that works just fine. The thumbnails are scrolling when the mouse if hovering the panel and stops scrolling when the mouse leaves the panel.
However, I'd like to create a slow down effect on the thumbnail scroll panel when the mouse cursor leaves the scroll panel (instead of immediately stop scrolling).
That said, I would like to alter some of the code to allow the thumbnail scrollbar to begin scrolling once the page has loaded. Here is what the code looks like as it is right now.

I built my gallery and import it a parent page (foo)... Sometimes the scroll of thumbnail scroll works... it is choppy.... Sometimes does not work at all.... When I view the movie outside of foo - it works beautifully...

Is there a way to amend this script so you can specify that a thumbnail clicked links through to a url, like you would with a normal button instance rather than loading the image. As far as I know, what I ask here isn't possible, but I thought I'd ask anyway in case I'm missing something.
Suppose you want to let users upload JPG images, and these images are scaled into smaller icons and the original images are always discarded and never required again. Is there any way that would commonly work in most modern browsers that would let the user select a single image on their hard drive, have that LOCALLY turned into a thumbnail and upload the created thumbnail to a server?
In a case where the server just needs a small image, it would be wasteful both in user time and server resources to proceed uploading the whole image, only to immediately discard it. It would be much better to just scale it on the client.
I can imagine three options. Just plain HTML/Javascript, using Flash or using Java. If this were possible with Flash, that would seem like the best option. But reading flash.net.FileReference documentation, it seems that you can upload a file from the HD yes, but you cannot look inside the file you are uploading. On the other hand, if you enable "can access local files" in Flash publishing options, it seems that you can then no longer access the net, so that doesn't work.
With HTML/Javascript, it is possible to load images and display them on a <canvas>, but if you try to access the pixels of these images, you get security violations, so that doesn't seem to work.
Java I hesitate to use, because only 96.52% of my users have it installed, and the file upload dialogs I have seen implemented in Java (at Facebook for example) have not worked well (unresponsive interface). I wonder though if Java is the only thing allowing resizing images from local HD?

I prefer this code because when a visitor rolls off of the button before it is finished with the rollover animation, it will rewind the animation and give it a smooth rollout effect (instead of an abrupt stop to the rollover effect to play the roll out effect).

My timeline would be setup like this: I set up the rollover effect only, putting stop(); code in the keyframe at the beginning and end of animation. Because of the rewind (prevFrame()) effect it would use the same animation to rewind for the rollout effect.

I am trying to create a table of thumbnail pictures from an xml. I have made the table load from from the file though when the items are created the first thumb has the background and text field though all others are missing this. I have tried making a clip inside the thumbnail clip thats called "thumbnail_image" though that didn't work. I also want to be able to click the thumb and have it go to the corresponding url from "curl[]". I just can't work it out. At the moment it will only go to the last url added in the array
