I am using a ContextMenu for an AdvancedDataGrid in my application. I could implement the normal context menu for the grid. Now, I am planning to make the context menu dynamic.For example, if I click on a particular cell, I need to see only the items related to that cell in the Context Menu. Is there any way we can do that?

In one area of my application I am creating a display that builds itself with actionscript during a loop. (in my actual app there are A LOT of nested children and my function might be looking for any of those children) In that AS I assign each item an ID, but when I try to access that item by it's id it fails. What gives? and how can I accomplish finding a UI component without having to go through knowing all of it's possible parents? [code]

View 1 RepliesI have created a tile list with custom item renderer and in terms of functionality it works as it should. I reduced the width and height of the item renderer to 95% which then shows the tile lists background in the remaining 5% of that item. The problem is that only when I hover over the item, the background is covered up and I cant get a gap to appear between items. Is it possible to change the height and width of the hover over?

Just compiled it with amxmlc and it gave me errors over the presence of "customItems" - nothing else at all in the entire 1500+ line AS3/flex program. I took out the customItems reference and it compiles with amxmlc just fine. Nothing about that feature 'customItems' is indicated to be anything other than active and current in the documentation. All amxmlc actually does is add a command line argument for AIR to the standard mxmlc.

I want to dynamically add different items to thumbContent canvas and use scroller canvas to scroll. I see than the height of thumbContent bigger than 7977 it truncate from scrolling. So - I see the scroller canvas with empty space on top. Then I scroll to bottom - I see the content of thumbContent and at bottom scrolling I see empty space too.
I have a DataGrid with a custom itemRenderer(Canvas) which has a context menu on its right click. I am trying to get the data of the itemRenderer. I tried to find something in event & variables. I also tried with FlexNativeMenu on RIGHT_MOUSE_CLICK. But I didn't find any way out.

I have a Flex Library Project which has both Flex specific classes, and Air specific classes.When I reference the library in an Air project, the compiler complains about an overriding contextMenu in mx.containers.Panel, saying that the param should be of type NativeMenu (instead of ContextMenu). If I switch it over to NativeMenu then it compiles fine.
The issue is when I reference the library in a Flex Project. This time it complains that it doesn't know the type NativeMenu. If I try to change it back to ContextMenu, then I get the same error as above.I've searched google to no avail (found that someone else encountered the exact same problem: http:url.... )

View 2 RepliesI'm creating a facebook application in flex. I'm actually working on the friends component that shows your friends who are using the application. now, each friend has a profile image.
I created the component using a s:List element.
In the Skin Class of the element i configured the requestedColumnCount to 3, which means it shows 3 friends. i added buttons to scroll left and right in the list.
Whenever I scroll to see a different friend, for a half of a second i see no image because the List component is loading the image in order to view it.
is there a way to make the list preload all the elements so i won't have this kind of problem ?
Can we change the width of the datagrid column dynamically by clicking on the border of the column in order to display the complete string which is too long to be displayed and needs to be scrolled ? If so, How ?
Also, how can we ensure that the column width changes dynamically based on the number of characters / length of string; since many a times the data is too long to be displayed. Can we set the column width to take the length of data into consideration before displaying onto the datagrid ?

View 2 RepliesI am creating a program where a change in a value causes the color of a pie slice in an mx:PieChart to change dynamically.the code that is supposed to change the color is similar to this:(pieChart.pieChartSeries.items[i] as PieSeriesItem).fill = new mx.graphics.SolidColor(0,0.2); // black, almost opaquetracing out the results of this appears to apply the color to the particular PieSeriesItem, but the color does not change visually. I checked the AS reference and the fill property is of type iFill and should accept a solidColor instance. It is involving into itemRenderer, but I wish to change the color of the image when some event occurs (like clicking above or something). The rest of the objects used the image shall remain unchanged, only the object on which the event has occurred shall change the color of the image. But the biggest question is: How to change the image color mainly - like there is a Blue area on image - to turn it on Green, or Yellow?

I am having a set of slider for each bar in the graph. I have bindded all the sliders with their corresponding bars. When i change the value of slider the value in the ArrayCollection changes and i have also used

The tree should have a minimum row count of 4 and a maximum of 10 (beyond which it should display the scroll bars). So, I have a tree with rowCount="4" and I want rowCount to change up to "10" depending on the currently expanded nodes. In debug I can see two of the tree's properties which I could use[code]...
But these are not accessible from outside so I can't find a way to understand if the tree is expanded or not.
