I am trying to use ContextMenu() to display context menus in Flex 4.

The problem is that the context menu does not change when I add items to it.
how to add a custom right click menu to a List box in flex (without using external JS, just using ContextMenu as Adobe intended.
I'm pretty sure my code is OK as the Context Menu shows nicely when I compile for web, but when I compile for AIR nothing shows up.

Now, I am planning to make the context menu dynamic.For example, if I click on a particular cell, I need to see only the items related to that cell in the Context Menu. Is there any way we can do that?
View 3 Repliesi attached a custom contextmenu to a sprite. there is another sprite lying "on top" of this first one. so if i try to invoke the custom context menu of the first one, it does not show when the cursor is over the second one.
i already set the properties "mouseEnabled" and "mouseChildren" of the second one to "false"
I have an (empty) ArrayCollection that I wrap with a ListCollectionView. Then I add a series of items to the ArrayCollection, but these are not showing up in the view.

transactions contains 150 items, filteredTransactions contains none. I originally thought it was the filter I was applying, but even when I remove the filter, I still get no items in the filtered list.
Do I need to add the items to the view as well as the underlying collection (this would seem to defeat the purpose of using a view though...)?
I'm getting a list of movieclips with attached scripts to display, but when I try to put them on the sceen nothing shows up.I can trace the elements in the list and it will tell me there are elements there.I can trace getChildAt(numChildren -1) and it will tell me there is something there but nothing is visible.If I generate the list in the constructor of the class that handles the displaying it does show them, but when I try to load them when they are actually needed they don't show up.Here's a simplification of the code(its a small part of a larger project and I can't put all of it up somewhere public)This code does what it should do(unfortunately that is not what I need done)

The traces all show up so I know its running the method, the traces tell me it adds stuff the the screen, but what I see on the screen remains completely stagnant, as if nothing is being added.
I'm building a Facebook client in actionscript, and I'm running into a problem. I have this block of code:

I want to add a movieclip from the library and add text from an array into. After a few seconds, that will begin to animate off and a seconds instance of the movieclip will be added to the stage. In order to allow for some overlapping of the animation, i figured that I would just add [i] to the end of the instance and be able to control it that way. So far I'm not having any luck. In fact, right now I'm just trying to have it set the x position and can't even get that.

I am creating a simple game for kids. On the first page, I added an "input text" field for their first name. I called the variable firstname.When they move to the next page, I used a "dyanamic text" field so I can call them by name on this page. It works. However, When I test the game, on the first page, where the firstname is input, it shows_level0.firstname instead of just a blank space for them to input their name. I know I fixed this in the past and it was something simple, but I can't remember how to do it
View 5 RepliesI have an object which needs to be added to an array, but when it is, it doesn't show the string inside. However, when I alert the exact same object, I get the result I'm looking for.
Here's my code.

The first line shows nothing in that location in the array, and the second pops up a phone number, just like I'm after.
I am not new to html or flash but, some what new to XML. I created a carousel based off the tutorials and it works great on my computer but, when I create an html file and attach the .swf file the flash file loads but, the icon images or anything from the .xml file doesn't appear.This is what I use to load my .swf file :

Do I have to put a special script in the html document for it to be able to see the xml file?
I have stored an object template in a variable and then I'm adding the video links via jQuery. I'm doing this because eventually the links will be added into the object template via ajax. However, the video does not show up. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. The sample code is in action here: [URL]

Just compiled it with amxmlc and it gave me errors over the presence of "customItems" - nothing else at all in the entire 1500+ line AS3/flex program. I took out the customItems reference and it compiles with amxmlc just fine. Nothing about that feature 'customItems' is indicated to be anything other than active and current in the documentation. All amxmlc actually does is add a command line argument for AIR to the standard mxmlc.

When examined in the FB4 debugger, the keys look like this:[code]The first two items are numeric (cast to string) but the third item in the multi-part delimited key is naturally a string -- it's like an alphanumeric library shelf reference. As expected, when you click on the [+] icon in the debugger, you can view the object associated with that string key. So far so good.The debugger shows the keys in the (pre-sorted) order in which they were added to the array. However, when iterating the object array so:[code]the keys are returned in some other order --internal hash? My question is, how does the debugger know the order the keys were added in, and can I access that knowledge at runtime when iterating the array? I want to iterate the objects in the order in which they were added. Or do I need to maintain my own index of these keys showing the order they were added to the associative array?

View 1 RepliesI have several SWF's (secondary) published that I want to load into a main (primary) SWF file when the corresponding button is released. I'm currently using loadMovie to load external SWFs into a container_mc on main stage of primary SWF. This works, the secondary SWF loads when it's button is released.But, the secondary SWF has items in it's library that Export for Actionscript, and they should load onto the secondary SWFs stage inside a container_mc (has a different instance name from the one used in main stage). These library items are not showing up. One should load immediately, the others after button releases. None are loading.Should this work? Will items in the library of the secondary SWF that are set to Export for Actionscript be available to load once the secondary SWF is loaded into the primary SWF? Do I have to share the library of the loaded SWF with the main SWF?

I have a Flex Library Project which has both Flex specific classes, and Air specific classes.When I reference the library in an Air project, the compiler complains about an overriding contextMenu in mx.containers.Panel, saying that the param should be of type NativeMenu (instead of ContextMenu). If I switch it over to NativeMenu then it compiles fine.
The issue is when I reference the library in a Flex Project. This time it complains that it doesn't know the type NativeMenu. If I try to change it back to ContextMenu, then I get the same error as above.I've searched google to no avail (found that someone else encountered the exact same problem: http:url.... )
I would like to use the selectionMode=multiple described in the Flex docs, but with a few modifications:
1) I would like the box that the user drags over the graph to remain there until the user drags a new one.
2) In the top right corner of the box I want to display the sum of the items selected by that box.

View 2 RepliesI'm creating a facebook application in flex. I'm actually working on the friends component that shows your friends who are using the application. now, each friend has a profile image.
I created the component using a s:List element.
In the Skin Class of the element i configured the requestedColumnCount to 3, which means it shows 3 friends. i added buttons to scroll left and right in the list.
Whenever I scroll to see a different friend, for a half of a second i see no image because the List component is loading the image in order to view it.
is there a way to make the list preload all the elements so i won't have this kind of problem ?

One more thing, the right menu can have only an few items at a time that do not need scrolling but when more are added then the scrolling will need to take effect.

I am having difficulty getting a reference to elements added after compile-time using the 'id' property. I have seen a few forum topics suggesting that this isn't possible, and that getting a reference to elements added this way is trickier, but never just exactly what that trick is. This code throws a fun little: Error: uncaught exception: Error calling method on NPObject! [plugin exception: "ReferenceError: Error #1069: Property canvas_tentpoles_0 not found on SGraph and there is no default value."].
