Flex :: How To Implement Effects On Components Creation Or Removal

I have multiple MXML custom components that I add on the fly (using a repeater) that is binded to an ArrayCollection. So everytime I add/remove item from the ArrayColleciton new items show/disappear from the screen. Is there a straightforward way to make item fade in when they get created and fade out when they are removed? I thought of using states and state transition effects but that will make things a bit complicated at different part of my application for those components to manage the states.

I'm developing a Flex/AIR application that's growing big, and some of the components need to be seen from different points of view (i.e Admin, Staff, User, Guest). I've seen myself placing code in those components to handle what the user can and can't see. But it's becoming unmanageable as the code and the roles grow bigger. I was wondering what's the best way to implement multiple views inside the components while keeping them as reusable as possible.

What I'm doing right now:

Flex :: 4 - Implement A Custom Toolstrip For An App - Inherit Components?

I am new to Flex programming. I want to implement a custom toolstrip for an app. This tool strip will include a menu bar (or a customized equivalent) to display the common menu items such as File, Edit, etc as well as a search box. It should be flexible enough to include other menu items such as bookmarks, etc in the future. I have been thinking about mx:Group, s:BorderContainer, mx:HBox, but haven't been able to choose between them. And none of them seem espcially suited to my task as they merely specify layout of other objects. Is there any component which has direct support for such functionality. I have also thought about using mx:MenuBar but I don't know if it will be flexible enough to add non-menu items like search box.

My goal is to remove all hover feedback from the UI. The motivation is for testing touch interface prototypes and not wanting users to have the queue of interactivity when the mouse hovers which they won't have with a touch interface.

I have a partial solution but it has two problems:

Requires an event handler on each component. Flickers on hover.

the above code shows my rectangle and two buttons, Intially Accounts Form was selected by default, when i click PersonalDetails button i have to show the screen change effect (From Right to Left that means Personal DetailsForm is moving from right to left ) within that rectangle. Xml :: Adobe Flex XML Creation And Checking?

I am working on a game in flex, and I am trying to create an xml file for each user if it is their first use, and then after that just access that file and edit it accordingly.Is there anything that could do this same thing first off, basically create and edit some sort of save state? I assume that flex would have some kind of saving state type of thing, but I am not sure what to look for in that respect.If not, does anyone know how to do this with xml files?

My problem is i am trying to make a panel. My button in in Main.mxml whereas the panel functions are defined in panel_Create.mxml. the code works fine. In panel_Create their are functions to create panels at runtime. The problem i am facing is when i run the program it wont show the panels but it does increase the value of n and after 8 clicks it gives alert message. The code works fine when i put all the code in Main.mxml

I have created a custom control Which contains an header(HBox) and list control below the header. I can open and close the list (Meaning list.height = 0 and list.height = 200) by using the header click event. Initially the list will be in closed state (height = 0). When we open it for the first time. It takes too much time. For the successive open of the same list looks smoother (I suppose this is because itemrenderer is being reused). I want to open the list for the first time smoothly. I have created my own renderer for list control which contains one 5 combobox inside a HBox.

The problem is that the destination folder structure and content need to be identical - right down to the creationDate and modificaitonDate file attributes. How can I change these file attributes using Adobe Air? I'm able to READ them both just fine, but the properties are read-only. How do I change them?

I have created a custom item renderer for the tree, i have added some children in create children function, my problem is that sometimes i need to show these children and sometimes i don't, depending on clicking on a button which also i have added at create children, the problem is that i had to create the item even if i don't want it to be visible, and removed it by making visible false, and this costs a lot of memory, i have tried to create it at buttons click listener but when scrolling the child disappears, and it may appear again if i keep scrolling up and down.. i am trying to add the child just when i need it to be visible, is this possible or i have to create it on child creation method?

I am writing a Flex application for use on a private intranet with no external Internet access. I want to use Google's 3D Maps Flex API, but it must be connected to the internet to download map tiles on demand.

Is there a way to locally cache the 3D map tiles and data so that I can run this app without an internet connection? And if not, is there a 3D GIS that supports Flex integration and allows for a local map cache?

So yahoo astra has grate compohent for saving inputed data. They show examples of how to use it. But I had not found one capable to solve my current problem. For example user inputed his name. It is saved, but when he comes again he always needs to input at least first latter of his name. so I wonder - how to make Yahoo astra autocompletemanager component to pop up last inputed into it value on application creation complete?

This process can take a bit of time, so I would like to implement a "Please wait..." modal popup to let the user know that everything is alright and the program hasn't frozen. How to achieve Flex Localization !! In my current project other than English, I need to change the language to French/Spanish also.I am using FB 4.0 and it integrated with Java/Jsp/xml. I've written a Flash (Flex) client connecting to a back-end server to exchange data. I've also written my server from scratch, and it serves two purposes:

(1) Web (HTTP) Server- By default listens on port 80

(2) Socket/Application- Server - By default listens on port 443

Just FYI, both servers run in the same process space, for convenience reasons. They are not expected to handle massive loads, so I'm fine with that. As soon as the Flash client is served to the browser from the HTTP socket, the client attempts to open an XMLSocket to the Socket/Application server. I now want to implement HTTP tunneling, so that my client can connect to the Application server even if the user is behind a firewall. I do not want any external servers involved (proxies etc.) - simply use the servers I already have.

My questions:

(1) Is it better to use port 443 for that? (does it better fool firewalls?)

(2) As far as I can see, what I am required to do, is just ensure that my actual application data is simply encapsulated in an HTTP structure (preceded by a dummy HTTP header), both from the client and server sides. Is that so or am I missing anything here?

(3) Do I need to keep hiding/encapsulating my data every message I send through the socket, or can I just encapsulate the first message when opening the connection?

Flex :: Possible To Implement Facebook In Adobe?

I am considering creating a website with the complexity of Facebook that should be able to scale into the millions of users. My question is: Is there any reason not to use Adobe Flex for such large project apart from the obvious point of requiring everyone to have Flash installed and not having to rely on Adobe? In my view Adobe Flex would reduce the server load for Facebook, because more of the work could me done on the client side.
