Flex :: List Has Been Jerked On Creation Time

I have created a custom control Which contains an header(HBox) and list control below the header. I can open and close the list (Meaning list.height = 0 and list.height = 200) by using the header click event. Initially the list will be in closed state (height = 0). When we open it for the first time. It takes too much time. For the successive open of the same list looks smoother (I suppose this is because itemrenderer is being reused). I want to open the list for the first time smoothly. I have created my own renderer for list control which contains one 5 combobox inside a HBox.

I'm trying to set a specific list item in a mx combobox to have a custom item renderer, the problem is that I cannot do this via mxml, it needs to be done via actionscript at a later stage, eg: combobox gets created, combobox gets populated, user does other tasks, combobox needs to set one or more items in the combobox to have icons (via item renderer)..
I can do this via the onChange event, but it only applies the icon when the combobox is opened and there is a slight delay so you can see the icon being added.

This is a very complex question, and I reckon for the real gurus on the forum. Before reading the rest of this post, please take a look at the attached image. Basically, I need a dynamic system of masks to do these things:
1. Display six images of identical dimensions, with different fills and blanks. Fills represent 12% opaqueness, blanks represent full transparency.
2. From the first to the last image, there will be an "adding" effect, which results in the last image incorporating all the opaque fills of the previous images.
3. Hopefully, the filled areas' shapes can be modified at runtime, adding or deleting lines (like in Paint/Photoshop/SketchUp).

I am working on a game in flex, and I am trying to create an xml file for each user if it is their first use, and then after that just access that file and edit it accordingly.Is there anything that could do this same thing first off, basically create and edit some sort of save state? I assume that flex would have some kind of saving state type of thing, but I am not sure what to look for in that respect.If not, does anyone know how to do this with xml files?

My problem is i am trying to make a panel. My button in in Main.mxml whereas the panel functions are defined in panel_Create.mxml. the code works fine. In panel_Create their are functions to create panels at runtime. The problem i am facing is when i run the program it wont show the panels but it does increase the value of n and after 8 clicks it gives alert message. The code works fine when i put all the code in Main.mxml

Can i use creation complete in item renderers, i have a data grid and i have kept every single cell as an item renderer. is it a good practice to use creation complete here. I fear events might fire up at wrong instances.

I have multiple MXML custom components that I add on the fly (using a repeater) that is binded to an ArrayCollection. So everytime I add/remove item from the ArrayColleciton new items show/disappear from the screen. Is there a straightforward way to make item fade in when they get created and fade out when they are removed? I thought of using states and state transition effects but that will make things a bit complicated at different part of my application for those components to manage the states.

The problem is that the destination folder structure and content need to be identical - right down to the creationDate and modificaitonDate file attributes. How can I change these file attributes using Adobe Air? I'm able to READ them both just fine, but the properties are read-only. How do I change them?

I have created a custom item renderer for the tree, i have added some children in create children function, my problem is that sometimes i need to show these children and sometimes i don't, depending on clicking on a button which also i have added at create children, the problem is that i had to create the item even if i don't want it to be visible, and removed it by making visible false, and this costs a lot of memory, i have tried to create it at buttons click listener but when scrolling the child disappears, and it may appear again if i keep scrolling up and down.. i am trying to add the child just when i need it to be visible, is this possible or i have to create it on child creation method?

Flex 3 List control had a itemRollOver event. Flex 4 List doesn't have it. Is there an equivalent or a workaround for this issue?

The 'recommendations' dataProvider is an ArrayCollection of String, which are generally sentences about as long as this one. By setting the variableRowHeight and wordWrap properties as shown, if a sentence is too long to fit on a single line, everything works fine- the row expands and the messages show on two lines, or occasionally three.
The space allocated for this panel within the entire canvas means if the total text size of 'recommendations' exceeds six lines, I need for the entire list scroll. This is also working just fine. The trouble is when using the mouse wheel to do the scrolling- Flex scrolls both the entire list and the single item where the mouse is hovering. Often this results in only the second half of a sentence being visible. Non-programmer friends I have asked to look at this noticed this, and tell me it as a problem. If a user does not notice the dual scrolling, and sees only a fragment of a sentence, it will be perceived as an error in the application.

So yahoo astra has grate compohent for saving inputed data. They show examples of how to use it. But I had not found one capable to solve my current problem. For example user inputed his name. It is saved, but when he comes again he always needs to input at least first latter of his name. so I wonder - how to make Yahoo astra autocompletemanager component to pop up last inputed into it value on application creation complete?

I'm trying to animate a list as I delete the top row. All the examples I can find use itemsChangeEffect to bind to the effect, but this property exists only in MX lists, not spark lists.
Any idea how I can get the same effect done in Spark Lists?
I'm trying to remove the top most item in the list with a slight fade out effect before the rest of the items move up to replace the gap.

The traditional way to assign an icon would be to use the icon field of the item renderer,which reads the value of "icon" property in your data, for example:
listData.addItem({label: "Logout", icon: "com.classpth.DefualtThemeLogoutIconClass"});
But i want the DefualtThemeLogoutIconClass to changed to another class: ightThemeLogoutIconClass when the theme is changed.The only way to do this would be to use a style declaration containing a classReference to the icon, and change its the value in each of the CSS files of the various themes.The question is, is there any way to assign this style to an icon in a List, something as easy as intuitive as list[0].getIcon().setStyle("styleName");

i have a full flash template that im messing with, and inside i have added as a symbol, a flash gallery. The problem is how to call the gallery each time with different list of the xml. Heres my code, of the symbol flash_gallery, and it has one page alone.[code]The problem is after i hit the return button which calls the ret_click, it cant load any other list.

I want to create a list of progress bars and update the list accordingly.I have group data in an Array as

I want to make a flash application in which i will load 3-4 different mp3 files of different instrumental music. After loading it I want play all files. Further I want to save or create a merged mp3, from all mp3s sound files in a single mp3 file.
Is it possible to convert different mp3 sound track in to different ByteArray and later using any other technology like PHP or C# can we merge all byteArray in a single byteArray to create a single mp3 file.
So that we can listen all instrument playing in a single mp3 file.

Here is the code I am using in the label function. Some of the values are numbers and some are strings. It works:
