I have a viewstack with 3 items in it. Now my problem is that I want all these components to be of the same size. Its simply enough to do this manually but is there any other way of setting the size for all the components at once?

I have a viewstack with two tabs.In one of them there is a data grid shows a list of notes. The other one is includes a form that can edit notes or crates new note. I want the user to be able to add new note or edit existing note when clicks an item in data grid. I mean when user clicks an item the viewstack must become editor.
View 1 RepliesI want to create a panel (or any other component) inside a component that has a 5 pixel border on all sides, but scales fully when the window is resized. I know I can set width to "100%" to make it resize, but that gives me no borders. If I put it to "95%",I have borders, but they scale annoyingly. Also, that only works for borders on the right or lower bounds, and not to the left or upper sides.Is there a convenient way to do this without having to write tons of resize-code (in which case I will not bother and just accept bad rescale behaviour, as it is for a private pet project).
EDIT: I know that I can just overwrite the display handling and set the positions manually every frame. I wondered if there is a cheap way to do it in the mxml-structure, along these lines:

Coming from C++ and Java, I am intrigued by the option of setting something to "95%" and let the library work out the details, instead of having to write many lines of code, just so my text-area always keeps a 5 pixel distance from the border, but scales with window width.If there is no easier way to do it than figuring out pixel sizes by hand and setting the coordinates.

View 6 RepliesWhether or not this is easy to code, I've seen it used very widely. You simply click on an image on a website and it's loaded in another spot (via movie clips I assume). The spot that it's loaded in could be a box that resizes itself to accommodate that image perfectly. How is this done? If my description is unclear, just ask and I should be able to find an example easily enough. Also, I'd like to know how to make a browser pop-up window that resizes itself to fit an image (shown here under gallery) and a flash pop-up window that resizes itself.
View 4 RepliesWhy can't I adjust the height of the slider component? I created a new component and placed it on the stage, and changed the height of all of the images that comprised this slider (which were movieclips) to a larger size, but it still remains a skinny line when I run the program. I even did this in the Actions section:
mySlider.height = 20; but it seems like the program is ignoring anything that has to do with adjusting the height of the slider. If I try adjusting the width, however, then that works. It makes the line longer when I set the width a larger number. But why is the height of the slider line not being adjusted? No matter what I do, nothing is working. I have searched all over the internet for answers, but I can't find anything.

I'm using a drag and drop inside to choosecar component, so I want to change the 'currentstep' - which is a variable of the main application - with +1 so the viewstack changes to the second component 'configcar'. The only solution I found is calling a component from the main application, I need it the other way around but I can't find it.
I'm having a viewstack with a few components. Those components have to execute a function with parameters coming from other components. Therefore the other component may not me loaded directly. Is there any way to load a component via AS3 with a function?

I'd like to get the actual height of a component after adding some children.
When inspecting the variables tab in debug mode, I see 2 different height variables:$height (which contains the correct value: 138) and height/_height (which contains a wrong value: 10).
I guess that the display is not updated and so I'm not getting the correct height using component.height, but how can I get the value in $height?

View 1 RepliesI'm building a flex .swc library using Ant, and many of the assets that are supposed to be in the file are not being copied, instead creating 0-byte entries in the .swc.Here is the ant compc target that is doing the creation. I've tried both compiler.include-libraries and compiler.library-path here, which is why the latter is still present and commented out. Neither worked.

I have a component and I add some content to it making it change it's size, immediately I need it's new size, but flex only updates the size in the next frame by calling updateDisplayList. how can I force it to update the size of the component right away.

I'm trying to create some user-resizeable "windows" in Flex, but I'm having some trouble getting the layout calculations for the contents correct. Right now I'm just trying to get a good understanding of how Flex calculates its layouts, but I haven't found any good overview documentation. How can I set font size of title property (header) in TitleWindow component? If I use fontSize property, it sets the font size for all components in TitleWindow, which is not what I want. I only want to set it for the title. I'm using Flex 3.

i'm trying to create a unordered list in Flex. My issue is that within each line, i want the word NEW to be a different font color and different font size from the rest of the label text. I am unsure of how to do this INLINE within the label component.

I have a component called X. I'm trying to make a menu come down from it when I put my mouse over it.
I have a mouseOver handler which changes the component's state to another state which shows an extra child component (the menu) on the lower part. This of course makes the X component grow.
I also have mouseOut event handler which makes the menu disappear by returning component X to its original state.
When I move the mouse over the component the menu appears as expected. But when I move the mouse down to the menu that is now visible, as soon as I touch it, it disappears. This way it's impossible to reach the menu.
I guess the mouseOut event is triggered as soon as I move out of the old boundaries. Is this so? And how can I avoid it? The new boundaries should now consider the extra child with the menu.

I can change the color of the label in Flex Builder, I can even BIND the color to a variable and that works, but I can't find the Color PROPERTY in order to change or reference it programatically! What is the ActionScript 3.0 code to change the font or color of a piece of text in a Flex RIA - or is caring in what color your text appears too bizzarre a request for a RIA? I wrote whole applications after just minutes of "learning" flex, how come it's taken me three days and I still can't change the color of my stupid label?

I'm developing a Flex 4.5 app and in it I have a viewstack of 2 components that use some of the same services. Currently the only way I can get the app to correctly use the web services is by defining 2 different web services that use the same PHP web service file. For example: I have an app, and within it I have a viewstack with tab navigation of 2 components: #1) retrieve a list of all Salary Employees, and #2) retrieve a list of all Contractors. Currently to get it working I am defining a UsersTableEmployees webservice within component #1 and a UsersTableContractors webservice within component #2, but they both point to the same PHP class, and only differ in the arugment value I pass to them. Ie, getUsers("employee") and getUsers ("contractors"). Of course this is not best practice.
Searching StackOverflow and Google gives me many results about ColdFusion and MVC (example What's the best way to share data between components in Flex?), but I'm still confused. Can anyone here point me to a basic example (even sample MVC) and source code of an app that uses Zend AMF and allows different components to call common web services?
I'm using a viewStack which have is property resizeToContent set to true. When I'm selecting a child higher than the viewStack, it's correctly resized, but when I'm selecting another child which is smaller, the viewStack isn't resized! What I want is that my viewStack get the height of the selectedChild each time.
though, the Adobe doc say :
If true, the ViewStack container automatically resizes to the size of its current child.
I've got a Flex 3 project.Does deep linking only work on viewStacks? (My project doesn't have any viewStacks). I'd like to use deeplinking based on what was selected in a comboBox. I'd like the user to be able to bookmark or use the back button based on what was selected in the comboBox.The comboBox selection determines which data is pulled from the database.Is this possible? I set-up deeplinking in another project, but it had viewStacks. And all of the deep linking examples that I've seen use viewStacks.

I have as good as finished a new project I'm working on now for a while, and I have this small problem coming up at the fine tuning.The area of concern is so I believe the ViewStack I'm using, but I'm not sure so here the details.I have several check boxes (4), and only one at all times can be selected to show off associated Radio Buttons as a Group of (6). No RBtn pre selected.With the selection of a check box I also make visible a new Radio Button Group of (4). No RBtn pre selected here either.Now if I select one of the RBtn (6 - each has a different Paper size measurement showing) then I can view through a external Xml data file details as Size, basePrice and the totalPrice which is in this case the same as the basePrice!
This totalPrice is located on the first Canvas/Label in the VStack!Selecting any of the first three (3) of the second RBtn Group (4) No RBtn pre selected either! - it will show me a Paper type description, and by selecting the fourth RBtn it will show me as well a field with the extra costs for a Canvas type, and it should select the second Canvas of the VStack with the totalPrice which is basePrice plus the extrasCost Canvas Price.Now the problem is that my second VStack Canvas/Label = totalPrice (basePrice +extraCost) is not showing up immediately! (It just shows blank canceling the basePrice out), and only if I select another of the six (6) RBtn! then it is showing the second vStack with the totalPrice (basePrice +extraCost). From here on everything works perfectly!I think that I have to mention that my RBtn Group are working in a function If / Else / If /Else configuration where both the Labels on both VStack Canvases are called up at the same time. So therefore both Labels should have data available which than should be viewed when the VStack changes?
