My rails website uses the open_flash_graph plugin to generate flash graphs for my clients. If a customer doesn't have flash installed, it doesn't display any messages, it simply doesn't show any graphs.
I've noticed that if I go to other websites that need flash, I get a yellow bar at the top of my firefox window that offers to "Install Missing Plugin".
Have CS4 installed on my system, but have some requirements for Flash 8. Can I install Flash 8 from the Macromedia Studio 8 CD in a separate location on the same system without breaking CS4.

I am rather new to Flash but have been in software/web development for more than 20 years.I have a project which I have to provide specs on which entails updating over 5000 SWF files from Flash 6 to Flash 9 on about 1000 classroom PCs that do not have internet connectivity.
Currently, I am simply just trying to setup one test machine but I can't seem to find the Flash 9 plugin to download and install. All I seem to find, even with a google search is Flash 10. someone direct me to where I can download the Flash 9 plugin and how to install it on my test machine?
I own Flash CS3 Pro so if there is some way to just copy components from it to the target machine,
I'm wondering wether there's a Javascript way to detect wether a user has any sort of flash blocking plugin installed so i can accommodate these users properly. For example, I use 'click to flash', but sites that use SiFR to render text are littered with "click to flash" buttons, which is getting very annoying. I don't use SiFR in my designs for this reason. But if I could spot wether there's a flash blocking plugin installed, I would simply not call the SiFR function.

Whenever I open a page containing a flash content, my browser crashes due to flash player plugin's crash.
I checked the version of my flash player debug plugin with [URL]
and as the version checker is written in flash, my browser crashes a few seconds later.
I am using version 10,0,42,2 (debug edition: yes)

I'm trying to install the Firefox add-on called Flash Switcher. I'm using Parallels on a mac and I"m trying to install it on Firefox 3.5.8. Problem is it won't install. I click the install link and it downloads and then it says restart Firefox to finish the installation but then when it restarts the add-on still isn't installed.

View 2 RepliesI installed flash cs4 the other day and ever since firefox will popup annoying errors. Its probably some debugger, but i want it disabled cause it comes up 5-6 times in a row when i browse the internet, (usually will happen on facebook or some youtube vids in blogs). the error starts like this: TypeError #1009 I will paste the whole thing in this thread the next time it happens, but i'm pretty sure the error itself doesn't matter, i think some debugger was installed in firefox when i installed flash cs4.
btw I want to make a multiplayer risk game for facebook in flash. think it will be hard? i'm already well versed in php and mysql. but i don't know any flash. i want my flash app to communicate with the server without reloading. is that easy with actionscript? will i need to learn AJAX as well?
In a small WebView app I wrote, I am able to load YouTube and see the picture the represents a video clip, with the familiar right-pointing arrow that is supposed to start playing the video:ut... when I touch that arrow, nothing happens (the video is NOT played).mWebView.getSettings().setPluginsEnabled(true);So, I searched for more clues about how to make Flash (YouTube) run embedded in my WebView and I found the following hint:I am OK with the requirement for Android 2.2 but what I don't understand is what "install Flash plugin" means: YouTube plays fine in Android's default browser (which is based on WebView AFAIK) and also in the YouTube app that's also installed in my device. Doesn't that mean that the Flash plugin is already installed?
View 3 RepliesI have a big problem with my firefox plugin: I have a button, which opens a new window for me, where I want to include that .swf file.
Here is the XUL code for the embedding:

Without the html:embed, the window opens without problems, but as soon as I change that, firefox crashes without warning or something, it just disappears from the process bar. The .swf file works properly when I open it from my operating system (its windows 7 64 bit) and is coded in as3.
I have a Flash website that I have tested in various browsers on my laptop, and it looks fine. I tested it on another PC in Firefox 3.6.8 (same version as my laptop) but for some reason, there is a sprite missing from the stage. On the same PC, the website looks fine in IE8. The vanishing sprite aside, the whole site is kind of sluggish in Firefox. The PC is kind of slow and old, but I can't see why that would cause images to vanish.

an answer here opening swf files using WebKit framework says the following about running SWF movies inside WebView inside Cocoa application: "because the Flash plug-in is not garbage-collection supported, the plug-in won't work if your application uses garbage collection".
Meanwhile, an answer here Flash AS3 animation in Mac vs Windows discusses Flash garbage collection on Mac (likely in Safari) and says that it sucks but it does exist.
So is the first claim about no garbage collection in WebView false or is the WebView plugin distinct from Safari plugin?
there is a yellow stroke appearing on my Flash buttons sometimes and i really have no idea why..anyone had this before? I didnt put there...and sometimes it appears on random buttons..
View 5 Repliesworks perfect on my macbook pro (safari, firefox, and opera) but when I view the site on Vmare Fusion Windows XP and use IE and FireFox the pages don't load... I don't know what to make of this. Has anyone hear or seen anything like this happen before? BTW the website was created in Adobe Flash CS4/ AS 3.0 and published using Flash Player 10.
View 2 Repliesim doing an accessible site and i know that objects areaccessible by default. all my buttons were highlighted in yellowwhen tabbing through...then i opened my accessiblity panel to add labels and now theyellow boxes are gone. i've deleted all the additions but still nosign of the yellow boxes.accessibilty is checked for everything, i've gone through thewhole site. nothing seems to be missing. is there some way i canglobally re-set the accessibility settings.

View 1 RepliesI had made a custom Youtube player in Flash CS4 in AS3 with Play/Pause, Mute, Stop, Seekbar and VolumeBar Controls. My problem is "only" with the Seekbar and the VolumeBar. It always shows up a bounded Yellow retangle over the controls when you try to drag it (scrub it) using a mouse which looks really ugly... I have tried every possible ways to remove the tabstop, like tabEnabled, tabIndex , and the like but all in vain. Also I have tried to remove the focus from the stage of the FLVPlayback component, still in vain...
