IDE :: Way To Make Objects Not Cover Button Hit Area?

Dec 5, 2009

Of course, when the mouse rolls over the graphic, the button beneath it is not clickable.Without going into all the reasons why I can't incorporate the graphic into the button itself... is there a way in AS3 to programmatically make that graphic virtually "transparent" - so that it doesn't interfere with the button's rollover and hit states?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Video Can't Cover Whole Screen Area

I am playing a video and created a button which displays video area in fullscreen but video doesn't cover whole screen area, there are blanks left and right of the video. I searched a bit and every flash player i found with full screen option in fact resizes the video the same way, it just doesn't cover whole area. Why is that? Can video in full screen mode be resized to cover whole screen area without those blanks at sides?

I've made a mask with a FLVPlayback inside and with a sliding bar that appears when I make rollover in the FLVPlayback. All working well. I want to put some simple controls in the sliding bar like pause or play, but I can't access the buttons because they are inside a first button ( the FLVPlayback ) that triggers the sliding bar. How can I make to have a button inside another button area?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Make A Blank Button With A Transparent Hit Area?

Oct 17, 2007

I'm trying to make a button symbol with a transparent hit area - surounded but a dynamically drawn border. Heres what I have. I have a simple AS script that uses goTo and lineTo (plus a randomizer to make sure the buttons are skewed and differnt everytime) to create a "sketchy box" as my button. My script resides in a movie clip withing the "over" state of a button symbol. Now the active hit area is ONLY the line elements. Question : How in the world, using only actionscript an I make a second, transparent area inside of the sketchy lines to make the whole button symble clickable?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Make MC Cover A Percentage Of The Movie?

Apr 1, 2010

I want to make a MC called bgFade cover a percentage of the flash movie. So the MC starts at the bottom and covers 80% of the vertical space of the Flash movie. So theres 20% at the top that isn't covered. At the moment i have:

ActionScript Code:
bgFade._y = Stage.height;
bgFade._x = 0;
bgFade._width = Stage.width;

...Which places the MC at the botton of the movie, and makes it fill all the horizontal space. So what can i add to that to make it fill 80% vertically?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Finding Objects Within Area?

Nov 13, 2006

need a method of finding all the objects over the top of another object...

I realise I could use hitTest to check if something is intersecting, but I can't use it to find the names of the said objects. I also realise I could just cycle through all the objects on the stage and calculate it that way, but considering there's over 300 objects that could 'possibly' be covering this particular object, thats a lot to calculate, and i'd like it to be snappy...

Nov 22, 2010

Is there any way to display flash objects which are outside the display area when flash is embeded in HTML
The reason i ask is my current project has a rotating + enlarging effect which is largely dynamic so sometimes an object may clip the edge of the stage areathis looks messy but i dont want to increase the stage area to cover  the largest possible area any object could enter because most of the time the objects are at the center and small so i would end up with a lot of white space

ActionScript 3.0 :: Make The Clicking Area Of The Mouse Change?

Oct 8, 2009

I'm having trouble with a custom mouse cursor. In my script I replace the original mouse with a movie clip called hand like so:

Mouse.hide();
hand.x = stage.mouseX;
hand.y = stage.mouseY;

But when I go to click on something it uses the mouse's pointer still. I'd like to be able to drag with any part of my custom cursor(which is larger than a mouse).I've tried making a hit box that detects when the mouse is near the clip but it doesn't work onsistently(sometimes it just clicks like normal).Is there to make the clicking area of the mouse change?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Make The Irregular Shape Of The Silo The Hit Area?

I'm using actionscript to place a bitmap into an empty movieclip like so:

var bitmap_mc:MovieClip = new MovieClip;
addChild( bitmap_mc );
bitmap_mc.addChild( bitmapPNG );

bitmapPNG is an irregular shaped png of a person, but when I use the movieclip as a button, the hit area is the square shape of the movieclip, not the silo. How do I make the irregular shape of the silo the hit area, and not the surrounding square of the moviclip?

AS3 :: CS3 Create Hit Area Button

Apr 1, 2009

I made a movie (looks like a button). Inside that movie, I have frame 1 - 36 for MOUSE_OVER, and the rest for MOUSE_DOWN. Frame 1 is for MOUSE_UP. I've assigned name to the movie home_mc, then went to scene1 and place a script on frame 1 (in separate layer):

home_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER,but tonOver);
function buttonOver(event:MouseEvent):void
{
home_mc.gotoAndPlay(1);
home_mc.removeEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER, buttonOver);
}

The movie plays correctly,but whenever I move the mouse (while its still on the button), then the movie plays again; to me it looks like its a hitArea() not configured.

To check that I have set a button and placed my home_mc movie in OVER frame.

CS3 Movieclip Button Hit Area

May 8, 2009

I have a movieclip button with the following actionscript (which I have on the main timeline above my MC layer):

movieclip1.onRollOver = function(){ movieclip1.gotoAndPlay("normal");
}
movieclip1.onRollOut = function(){ movieclip1.gotoAndPlay("hitout");
}
movieclip1.onPress = function(){ movieclip1.gotoAndPlay("over");
}

This works perfectly! My movieclip button takes up the whole stage but I don't want the whole stage to be my hit area (which right now it is). I was searching and I found this actionscript: hit._visible = false;
this.hitArea = hit; The tutorial said to make another layer inside my MC, then add that code. But when I play my movie, I can still see my green square (which was supposed to be my hit area) and it does nothing!

I need to disable the hit area of an object thats part of a movieclip button. Im trying to create a single image light box effect in which the blown up image closes when you mouse off the thumbnail. Here is a link to my movie [URL] If you click on the pic of the gauge you will see the image blows up, and the background fades to a transparent black for better contrast between the pic and the page. I need the background fade effect to not have a hit area otherwise the rollout action does not work.

Button Hit Area Different In Flash Than Published?

Oct 7, 2010

I am creating a simple flash animation in Flash CS5 of a hip hop group, where when you mouseover their picture, their name pops up over their head.

I made each image a button and created the frames for up, over, down, and just a black rectangle for the hit area.

The problem I have is that in Flash when I have simple buttons enabled, it works fine and flawlessly, but when I publish it the hit area is sketchy and doesn't always react when moused over.
