IDE :: Create An Interface On Flash That Sends Information Over A Port Into Maya And Controls Certain Things In Maya?
May 18, 2009
I am trying to create an interface on flash that sends information over a port into Maya and controls certain things in Maya. I have been able to connect flash and maya to the same port but there is nothing that is telling Maya to listen to flash.
I have a slider ... This slider controls a value 1 to 5 ... I have written the script in flash to make that slider control the radius of a sphere in Maya (using mel scripting) ... so imagine I have two screens one with my flash interface with the slider and the other with maya and my sphere ... I am trying to make it so when I adjust the slider in flash .. the radius of the sphere in maya changes .. I am just missing that middle piece where one listens to the other ...
import 3D models from either 3Ds max or Maya into flash CS4. If so what file format do you have to export them as??
If not what 3D software can you use to export models into flash cs4? I heard swift 3D can but I'm not sure how to use that software so would it be possible to export models from maya/max into swift and then into flash cs4?
Could someone tell me what the process is for importing 3D models from Maya into Flash CS4? I heard you could use Swift 3D but I don't have that. Could anyone else shed more light? Also if anyone knows any good video tutorials for working in 3D in flash CS4 please let me know asap.
how to change the geometry to something exported from maya using collada but the problem lies when i rotate the object. the cube rotates just fine but any toher geometry that isnt a perfect square gets all fecked up when you rotate. as you can see from the shape i have currently the top and bottom rotate just fine. im guessing it has to do with the math.cos and math.sin but really not sure.
I don't know if this is too much to ask but could someone give me a quick overview on how to create an email form that actually sends the information to my email? I have the form created, and I'll post the .fla file (I allow a laugh at my elementary flash movie. This is just a final project for an intro to flash class), and I understand I'll need the .asp file from GoDaddy setup on my hosted space.
I would like to know if there is a way to make a flash movie that sends information straight to my email with the push of a button. Is it possible? Can it be done without knowledge of the person? I want to have a poll, and calculate the votes by hand, or eye, I suppose. I just don't want to have to set up a server of any kind.
Unde linux, the foreign keys such as... do not seem to work with this code:URL...The output is wrong under Linux, but Windows is Ok.the output of foreign keys such as ΓΌ with Linux looks same here, totally broken, two chars appear: URL...
I'm trying to create a button that sends you to a url when it's clicked. Whenever I test the movie, I get the compiler error "1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: MouseEVENT."
Here's the code:
homeBtn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN,mou seDownHandler); function mouseDownHandler(event:MouseEvent):void { navigateToURL(new URLRequest("url")) }
Sites like The Daily Show (I can't post URLs since I'm a new user, but just go to their front page to see) are doing what I need to do. When you go fullscreen with their video, the bottom video controls and the top social media bar aren't scaled. They adjust themselves in width, but the text and button graphics remain the same size. Now, I've had success with a method where, when the FULLSCREEN event is invoked, I downsize my interface elements by a ratio equal to the difference between my SWF size and the screen size, essentially keeping the interface at a constant size in both modes. However, all text and graphics inside those elements are distorted or blurred when I do this.

how to create zoom and pan controls in Flash -- I'd like to create controls with functionality similar to that you see in Google Maps, GigaPan.org, etc. Does anyone have suggestions for where I might find a tutorial or instructions for how to create these controls using ActionScript? I browsed some threads in this forum on zoom and pan controls, but I'm not seeing anything that really explains how to write the code.
I've been asked by a client to create a flash rolodex.Basically it will look and act like the rolodex object to hold peoples information. He's seen the pageFlip application which i'm sure your all familiar with and wants it to look like that.
I'd like to know if someone of you guys has any experience in using Flash (and AS 3.0) to create user interface for Crestron system. I'm experiencing few problems with the management of feedback join
In my game, Ive got a HUD, (heads up display, life bar, points scorer etc...) and when an enemy comes onto the stage, the lifebar is appearing behind everything else, and it should really be the thing that's infront of everything else. Is there like a line of code and a function or variable I should declare or import that allows me to create depth and put my lifebar at the front.
I can't decide what i want to use. I've made an admin page using flex adding FAQS to a database plus some other little options.but for the user i want a FAQS search app. I initially thought i would use flex, but i've come to the conclusion Flex is only quick when using the built in components. To me flash would be easier to create an app where i could control how things will visually appear. For example in Flex would it be just as easy in flash if I were to NOT use "lists" and "datagrids?" What if i want to have a "skinless" expand and collapse type menu?
I'm trying to create rows of information in Flash using createTextField in a dynamically attached movieclip. I have the autoSize property set to "center" to account for varying lengths of text. However when I try to obtain the height of the current textbox so I can set the _y property of my next record, Flash doesn't seem to be recognizing the autoSize property and returns the same height for each record.
I added a second frame in the movieclip I'm attaching with a "trace(this._height)"... The correct height property is shown.
how I can get the height property right away after creating the textbox?
I'm kinda noobish when it comes to getting information from XML information sent to my flash file from the socket server. OK so for example the server sends me this:
[Code]...
I want to get the name of the user and the X and Y position! Is there a way I can get this information without a load of fuss from functions and other junk remember im kinda noobish.
I want to build a program built around my pc specs. Is there a way to access such information as how much ram I have or how much cpu usage is being consumed, etc.?
In a project that I'm working on, I have to be able to read input data from a serial port. The input data will be very simplistic in nature. I'm guessing more like a on/off, yes/no, true/false style of operation.I have found some examples in other languages, but nothing in AS3 or AS2. Could anyone send any sample code or a link to a tutorial that gives me some lead way on this? Which approach is better, going with a Flash projector piece, or building it in AIR? The final piece will be on a PC based system.
I need to create a login page in my flash site that relates to information input to a mysql database. after the submit their information we want to send them a link to a differnt flash page with a login screen they will use their first name and a password (already in our database) to gain access to this "new" page. on that page there will be a welcome message that says "Welcome, User First Name" so I guess i have two questions
1: how do i set up a login page?
2: how do i pull that login info to a welcome page?
i want to create a slider that controls 2 images and when you move the slider to half 50% it will have to show 50% of one image and 50% of another image . when i'm at 70% i want to show 70% of one image 30 of the other.the problem is that i coudn't find a way to show just half of image , i don't want to move the image to the left and animate it , simply i want to cut the image in half.
(I'm using the free Flex SDK and compiling actionscript on the command-line) How can I create interface components around a Bitmap? I'd like to lay out my interface so that the Bitmap is in some sort of container, which interface components above and below it (and maybe to the side) Is it possible for a Bitmap to be the child of some Flex container? I haven't coded Flash since Flash 8. I'm not sure how to go about this at all. I thought maybe the Canvas container might work, but it throws a runtime error
