What is the easiest way to create curved text (i.e. warp the text like WordArt)? I have read that it is possible to do it directly in Flash, but with no explanation how to do so. Thus, I'm not even sure if that's true.

I use Flash CS3 primarily for drawing. I'm a freelance cartoonist and I love Flash for it's drawing tools. Flash seems to only have the ability to create text horizontally or vertically. Other than creating the text in Photoshop or Illustrator, is there a way to create warped or path oriented text directly in Flash? that will perform the same way photoshop or illustrator does with text options? Below is an example of the functions in Photoshop and Illustrator that I'd like to perform in Flash.

I need to write a 3 words sentence which will be placed above and below a circle. Circle contains a logo, but i need to write the text, but it needs to be rounded as well. My circle component is such that I have an outer circle and an inner circle, with a small gap between the two circles. I'm writing in Flex a simple app that allows product personalization, right now I'm working on adding engraving text. Most products are round so I want the text the be slightly curved when placed on the product to give it more realism.
I've looked into text curving/arching in Flex but the solutions I've found seem to be overkill for my requests. Does anyone know how I can slightly curve text in Flex without too much hassle?[URL]..
I need to create curved Arabic text which can be change at runtime by input from Text Field. Currently I am using Text2Curve AS3 component. It works fine with Latin symbols, but I have several problems with it when it come to Arabic text: First problem is that Arabic letters comes in four different forms: end, middle, beginning and isolated. But Text2Curve AS3 component shows them the same.Second problem is that Arabic text shouldn't have any gaps between letters. But in component you can only set one letter spacing for all symbols. So some of the symbols overlap, while other have gaps between them.Third problem is that Arabic text is written from right to left, but Text2Curve AS3 component only supports left to right. (I solved it partially by reversing input string)If someone have had similar problem, or know better component/library (paid or free), or can event create one please let me know. Also I am working with Adobe Flash Professional CS 5.5 and I don't speak Arabic. So it is quite hard for me to check if Arabic text is good or not.

I have three text fields sitting right next to each other, to create a row. Some times the text is longer than the width of the text field, I don't want to widen the the text field to make it fit, I just want to fade the last 20 - 50 pixels of the text out.
Is this possible to do without using an object above it, such as a gradient?
I've seen similar threads but couldn't find one with the exact same issue. I've a PDF / Word document with arabic copy when I try pasting that text in flash all the joined letters start appearing as individual letters.I've tried the dynamic text box solution in which you create a dynamic text box and assign the text to its variable that doesn't work. But strangely when you write arabic in dynamic text box (with out assigning the text to the variable) and double click to select the text box and its content the text starts appearing fine .. but when published its again all individual letter.

I know I can use the textArea component and set the htmlText property but converting all of my RTF to HTML is gonna be a major pain in the @$$. I keep getting into trouble thinking what's mindlessly easy in Director/Lingo is gonna be reasonably simple in Flash/AS3, I hoping this is just my inexperience with Flash getting in the way. Is there an easier way? I thought of embedding a PDF document but apparently that's not an option in Flash either (note: I know how to link a PDF doc, I need this text to display and scroll within the application, not just pop a new window on top).

Similar to this: http:[url]...In this example, select a font then click create text item.At this point you can slide the meter to change the arc of the text. This is exactly what I need to do.My understanding of what needs to be done is I need to first break the letters of the text field into separate text fields, loop thru them then position and rotate each char to the desired arc. The problem is my trigonometry really bites. I have tried many tutorials and I have gotten similar results, mainly arcing text into a complete circle at different radiuses. I have been making a memory game, where words are shown to the user. Once they have memorised the words they go to the next screen where the words that they have memorised are shown. They then have to drag each word into a "correct" place and a "wrong" place. I now want to edit it so that I can use two arrays one for correct words and one for wrong words. I want to generate random words from each of these arrays. I have sort of worked out how this is possible to do but using dynamic text, but am I correct in thinking that the whole dragging the words thing is not possible with dynamic text. (I may be wrong though, I am quite new to flash).

It would look like this:[URL]The swf at the link was created with After Effects and the file size is 1.5 MB - too big for a web banner. I was told I could recreate the whole thing dynamically with actionscript and get file size way down. I've been working through various tutorials with little luck.
I have a list of 100 words, how do I turn the code above into a cloud of words that appear one or two at a time? I assume I will put the words into an array, but then how do I get the code above to cycle through the array and pick up the position and format attributes?

However, I would like to now create an animation that automatically draws a line onto the movie clip which ends up being curved, but I can't figure out how to convert the x, y coordinates of the pixels on the stage to the corresponding x, y values of the movie clip. It had a much better text editing ability then the properties panel, seeing as the properties panel does not even bother to allow me to underline text or to highlight and edit a single word in a whole text box. View 16 RepliesWhen I create a TLF text area that is editable at runtime (which means that it can get a user input at runtime) I set the text direction to the 'right-to-left' definition in both the 'container and flow' and the 'paragraph' sections and set the language for Arabic or Hebrew at the 'locale' setting. I also set the text alignment to the 'align to start' mode. Now at runtime there's a stange thing. When I try to click with the mouse cursor on the editable TLF text-box, it's not displaying the text icon cursor and don't allow me to insert text inside.
But when I move my mouse cursor over the right side of the editable TLF text box, it change his appearance to the familiar text cursor which indicate that if you click here you will be able to insert text input inside. So my problem is how can I make it that only when I will hover over the TLF text box itself, the mouse cursor will be changed to text cursor icon and when I will hover beside its right side, it will remain at the normal cursor mode.
I need to put together an editable text area that has a custom caret (cursor) which is different from the default blinking vertical line. Is the caret a "skinnable" property of text input? note that I am not asking about the mouse pointer cursor which can be set using the CursorManager.

I need the ability to click the Bold button and it bolds or unbolds at the cursor so if I hit the bold button what I type from that point on will be bold until I hit the button again and then it goes back to regular. I am able to change it to bold or unbold by selecting the text and clicking the button but I also need to do it without selecting.
