I'm trying to make a flash site and basically what I'm doing is loading an external page on top of the swf without having to reload the swf.

Ive finished Kirupa's excellent Photogallery Tutorial and Im very happy with the result. I have exported the page as a SWF file and I now want to load it into my main page (essential in the design on my website). But when I do so the larger images do not show up! Strangely however, the title and the thumbnails are displayed - so the XML file is still being loaded. Additionally, the drop down menu I made also does not work.

i am a webdesigner i do flash layouts and animation and trying to learn as2, I have a problem with one of my projex, 1=i hav to load an xternal swf video in flash 8 file,
2=at the end of playing video i have to automatically go to nxt html page. 3= i was able to do all the stuff using tutorials but in slow internet speed,my page switches to next page before completely playing the clip. well i can show u the code i used for loading video.

my videos duration was 75 frames,so i tried a trick,i made a mc of 90 frames and at the end of it gave the code.so at completion of 90 frms it switches to html i want that the video should play completely and switch to html.

I am working on my first Flash project with AS3.The structure of the flash site is pretty simple. I have a stage 1165px wide x 710px height Inside my Stage I have an horizontal bar with a menu followed by a container right under.
is that whenever I click on one of the button on the menu, that the related external .SWF loads into the container with a preloading bar and %. I already did all my .SWF files.
I work at this place that does tons of partner sites for our main company, that all the same site, just with different color schemes and logos. i'm in the middle of redoing a lot of the elements and making them flash based. i realized if i can have a way of maybe dynamically loading the colors on the page from an external php or xml document, that i would save myself and other much work in the future.
View 5 RepliesI have an invisible movie clip I want to go to the NEXT page, as it goes to that page, I want it to essentially remove itself (page1.swf). e.g. page1.swf (contains fancy.swf - [AS2], 4 images, several invisible MCs with code) has an invisible MC + on click = remove page1.swf.
To be clear, this does work. It goes to page2.swf and page2.swf goes to page1.swf as it should. The issue is that if the user repeatedly does this (just 2 or 3 times) the fancy.swf becomes impossible to control and Flash (CS5) crashes. I think this is due to the fact it's not unloading the entire thing, it's only unloading fancy.swf on click (I hope). So underneath page2.swf is page1.swf, and when the user clicks back to page1.swf, page2.swf AND page1.swf are underneath that, and so on and so forth.

I am trying to load an external swf with a number of quotes into an empty movie clip on the home page. then I want it to obviously disappear when nav to any other page.
1) know that you need a loaderEmpty_mc to load the swf into
2) don't know code for how to get it to load on entering the home page
3) don't know how to cdde for leaving the home page and making it disappear

View 3 Repliesi'm trying to build a flash site and ran into a problem... i have a gallery page with a bunch of page numbers at the top. when you click on one, a movieclip loads of some images coming in.so the problem i'm having is that i made a little animation for when you roll the mouse over the page number (they scale up when the mouse is over, scale back when the cursor moves away)... what it's doing is when you roll over, it goes to a certain frame in the timeline and plays that animation.that's all working cool, but i need it to not do that once it's clicked on. so basically when you actually click on a page number, the over script should stop until you go to another page... here's the code i've written,

I have a movieclip clip that plays when the movie starts, the movieclip is a visual assets that show's that the application is loading some information but it's not showing any loading progress, just playing while the assets are loaded.I created a for loop that will load the assets using a simple loader, and then when the object is loaded the application push the object to an array.Problem is that when the loading starts all the animation that i have on screen stops until the loading is finished.The whole point is that the animation will play while it's loading.

In my main.fla, I have a code which loads the other two files. [FMX] I am having trouble loading an XML file on an external server into my flash movie when it is uploaded. The data loads in fine when the flash file is on my local computer with the xml file on a server. As soon as the flash file is uploaded the XML data will not load in.

I have created a main "site.swf" file that loads a "default.swf" file into a container after a preloader. On this default.swf file I have buttons that needs to load new external SWF files in its place in the container. All of the external SWFs contain buttons and navigations that will also call up other external SWFs into this container. So, I would like to know how to program each button (some are movieclips as buttons) to unload itself and load the respective SWF into the container (eg. AboutUsButton to call up aboutus.swf into the container). I do not have a main navigation on the site.swf file bacause the navigation changes on each SWF that needs to be loaded into the container.

I'm loading a external swf into a movie everything is fine with that. The only problem is that its loading only a part of it. Does anybody know why? Also, this swf is a mp3 player with streaming. The streaming part works but the playback doesn't.If i start only the mp3 player by itself it's working.here is the fla for the player

[URL]/img/20042005113934movie3.swf ) My Loading Progress code fails to detect the SWF file size. However the same code works perfectly for a JPG! Essentially the .getBytesLoaded() and .getBytesTotal fail to work. Why is this and how can I get it to work for loading SWFs?

Specifically, I am building a flash page that loads external swf files and inside some of the external swf files, I would like to add audio and flash video (flv) streaming from the Flaash Media Server. In some of the external swf files, (using a FLVPlayback component) when you press a button on the main timeline to unload the current playing swf the audio/video continues to play after loading the new external swf file.So I believe that my approach is all wrong and I should be working to dynamically load the .mp3 and.flvs in the external swf ... my questiion is how to unload those assets when loading the new external swf
View 1 RepliesLets say I have Main.swf and sub.swf, and I wanna load sub when I press a button from Main, but sub.swf has its own external class file attached, so here is the problem, when I load sub using loader class and I would get this message from the output panel:

seems loader class can not access sub.swf's external class when sub is being loaded.

View 2 RepliesI created a site using Kirupa's external .swf loading tutorial. Now in one of my externally loaded .swf's, I am loading another external .swf. I've gotten this to work fine, but the second external .swf (loaded into the first) contains buttons that will swap this second external .swf with another external .swf. I can't seem to get the AS references to the variables set up correctly in order to swap the swf's. The initial .swf loads fine, but the button control gets complicated inside it. It sounds rather confusing, so I've included a link to the .fla's and .swf's below.

I'm using swfobject to replace various objects on my page with flash. I use location.href (javascript) in order to pass the URL into flash via flashvars. In flash, I load the page as XML and then parse the data according to my current needs.This all seems to work fine when testing locally. However, I am trying to use this process with a CMS that is running ASP.NET and it no longer works.Is there an issue with the following code if the page being loaded is a .aspx page rather than a .html page? (xmlPath is the URL passed via flashvars)

In the page.swf there is a text scroller as in this file example. So the main.swf loads the page.swf with the scroller but the text wont scroll when loaded in the main.swf. Im thinking its a path issue and I think the problem code is on the button...

I'm having a problem with embedding games in my website.[url]...
It shows a loading bar whilst the game is loading, but when I embed this same swf url into my website using swfobject (or even with plain old <object> or <embed> tags), the loading bar never shows up, and instead a white box the same size as the flash game is shown, until the game is loaded!
If I have an HTML splash page that has a embedded SWF consisting of a preloader (for itself) at the start of its timeline, then a 5 second hold (no new Flash material), and then have a number of images on HTML page in a <div style="display:none;visiblity:hidden;">, all set with sizes of 1x1:2) Does the SWF get priority with the download, or are both the SWF and images given the same download priority?3) How would I preload (on the splash page) a second SWF that is used in the inner page? Would I embed it as usual, but use the CSS display:none, and set the size as 1x1, as I do with images?
4) Is there a better way to preload the SWF, where the main (splash) SWF actually loops while it downloads the second swf? Would I be loading that second SWF into the splash SWF on a different document level? What ActionScript commands would I use for that? loadMovieNum()? Would I put the incoming second SWF off stage, or set its visibility to hidden?I figured I'd preload some of the interface/common graphics for the inner HTML page that the visitor is brought to after the initial Flash splash page. Even without a preloader that would loop until all the content is loaded, I figured I could just have the splash page hold for a bit, and give the hidden <div> images a chance to load in the background. Obviously, using that method wouldn't guarantee that all the imags load, since it's unmonitored, but would at least give them a bit of a head start
I've recently made a website (www.doneanddone.co.nz) which has two swf's on it. The first is a sound swf which works perfectly, however, my other swf is a video swf that loops over and over and does not show up now I've loaded it on to my host.I just get this error message.[code]

Basically, I am wondering if there is a way to load a html file just like we load movieclips and perform all the functions of html page.
