I have a simple array of SWFs that I want to load on top a menu/template swf - I want to navigate forward and backwards using two buttons on the template/menu swf. I can load one swf but I cannot figure out how to do this and navigate through an array of swfs.
I've been working on this project, and I've been using external swf's to navigate thru my project. I started working on it, and everything was good, but I noticed that when I was navigating around the project, it was starting to get really slow with the animations.
The way that I had it set up was this: I had a file called "home.swf" that held a movie clip called "container", and then i would load everything thru that. Then I put that same "container" movie clip on my other swf's, and scripted it out so that other swf's could load thru the "container" MC on those pages.
That is what I was doing, and I was thinking that was good, but it's making my animations run slow. I was scripting everything out like this for the navigation on the buttons: on (press) { container.unloadMovie("promotions.swf"); } on (release) { container.loadMovie("apparel.swf"); }
My question is do I need to not have the "contianer" MC on each one of my swf pages? Here what I have done so far: [URL]. Not all of the pages work just yet (I'm still working on it), but if you click thru the pages "print", "apparel", "promotions", all the ones that are on the top of the white center area, you can see what I'm talking about.
I wanted to setup an array of movieclip buttons to navigate across my timeline via labels, this is where it went pear shaped.
Having spent three days reading and attempting most online solutions I couldn't find a method which worked 100% without failing in some way or another.
I've had some joy with the method below having seen a blog entry covering different ways to call frames etc and which highlighted the bugbear below :
I've added the full code below so hopefully it may help anyone else who similarly nearly resorted to hari-kari in trying this.
import flash.events.MouseEvent; import flash.events.Event; var clipArray:Array = [btn_1,btn_2]; // Movieclip's called btn_1 etc...
[Code]....
This works fine, now however my understanding of whether it is 'good' code or not is an issue, if this could be improved in any way I'd like to know why and how as the problem with learning AS3 from 2 is that often you use code having seen it online without fully grasping the detail.
Adding MovieClip buttons with fluidity and which cancel out from an array became a three day mission when you're learning...
I have a long timeline with a series of slides arranged along it with a labeled frame at the beginning of each slide.These slides do not have any standardized length so instead of counting out frames and jumping a set number I am trying to navigate with my previous and next buttons to frame labels stored in an array.
This works GREAT!Or rather...it works great if you're rapidly hitting the Next and Previous buttons to step through the area.The problem comes when you sit and try to watch the whole thing play out and then try to use the next button.If you have passed framelabel2 and hit the next button it returns you to framelabel2.If you have passed framelabel3 and hit the next button it returns you to framelabel2. Clearly the problem is that it does not know it has gone past framelabel1 and is thus gotoandplay-ing the next frame in the array...which is 2.I need to make it check its current position in the array before adding 1 and advancing the playhead.
var fLabels:Array = new Array("start1", "start2", "start3", "start4", "start5", "start6", "start7"); var cLabel:Number = 1; function nextPlayClick(evt:MouseEvent):void {[code].....
I have the problem with creating multiply functions. I want to create onRelease function for every item in array that will navigate to specific URL from xml.Here is the code:
for(var i=0;i<numOfItems;i++) { var t = home.attachMovie("item","item"+i,i+1);[code]....
The problem is that the trace for url will work if I put nodes[0] for example instead of [i].
I have a menu files that loads all the swf clips I have in another folder.I did it in an array so that it calls to the clip and then plays it in the movieclip I have in the menu flash file.And yes, I use Actionscript 2.0.My question is, how can I make a player control that will skip to the previous swf that has been played.I have a rewind button already, but it doesn't rewind through the previously-played swfs.I'm trying to think of a code that will load the previous swf file played in the array when a button is clicked.Similarly, I would like to do that with a forward button and simply have it move to the next swf in the array line up.I'll just tweak a little bit of the code I'd have for the previous swf button.I just don't know where to begin.It seems like I almost have it figured out, but I'm just missing a key element.
I'm trying to use an array adapted from AS2 script to load random swfs called "koan_1.swf" or "koan_2.swf" etc into a "koan_loader_mc" on the stage. Each "koan_#.swf" has code in its last frame to both advance the "shuffle" array in the action script in the first frame of the stage and to load the next koan swf. The code below -- almost -- works, but....?
Frame on main stage:
// creates function called at the end of koan_#.swfs function shuffle(a:Array) { for (var ivar = a.length-1; ivar>=0; ivar--) {
I don't think I'm as familiar with arrays as I need to be to complete the following project - I've read about 60 posts and no one seems to be doing exactly what I am. Here's what I need to do: From a main swf (home.swf), I need to load 7 consecutive swfs in random order, (movie01.swf, movie02.swf, etc) from an array, into level 1. I need all seven to play without repeating, then repeat them in the same order in a loop.
But I ALSO need the user to be able to navigate through the swfs by using next or previous buttons (or by selecting individually 1-7, but that may be asking too much from my limited knowledge).Here is the code I'm using to generate a random ordered array:
I have a main fla file which loads an external swf into an empty movieclip on the main timeline which works fine but I want a button in the external swf to load another external swf into another empty movie clip on the main timeline.eg. start.swf loads UKEIAMap.swf into (empty movie clip within start.swf) MapLoader_mc then a button havant_b within UKEIAMap.swf needs to load HavantProjectSheet.swf into (empty movie clip within start.swf) ProjectSheetLoader_mc without unloading UKEIAMap.swf
I am loading eight external swfs by way of eight buttons with actionscript to remove the swfs and sound after a new button is clicked. This works fine except that as soon as you get to the frame where the actionscript is all the swfs load at one time on top of each other. I don't want any to load until the button is clicked for the right one. MouseEvent listener works but only after all the swfs have loaded. How do I get the swfs to load only when the buttons are clicked. I can't figure out what I am doing wrong.
I am working on a having external swfs get loaded into the main swf one by one from an array.I can get the first one to load, but it just keeps on playing the first item in the array over and over, instead of loading the next movie. I have a container on my stage, cleverly named "container" and I am using AS2 and loadMovie.
I am guessing my conditon on my if statement is off, but I am not sure how to tell the onEnterFrame to check the currentframe of the loaded swf and not the container itself. I might be way off, but in my mind I feel like this mostly makes sense, but knowing Flash it is probably not nearly enough coding.I might also add this won't be running on the web, so I don't need to worry about preloading swfs since it will be running directly off a PC onto a screen in our office.Here is my code:
Code: var myClips:Array = ["movie1.swf", "movie2.swf", "movie3.swf", "white_logo.swf"]; var i:Number = 0; _root.container.onEnterFrame = function() {[code].....
I am trying to find a way to preload swfs while other swfs are playing, i've found several scripts and tutorials, but none of them seem to work for my needs.
Flash - 8 : Above is an example of what I would like to do/have done. I've gotten as far as loading the "loaded.swf" into the "start.swf" but my problem is I'd love to use that little loading action I made earlier without copying and pasting into the new movie the same actions for a different link. So, how do I load "loaded2.swf" into "loaded.swf" via the link in "loaded.swf"?
[URL]regarding this tutorial I started my site [URL] to get some trasition effects but im getting somewhat different since the external SWFs take time to load. isn't it better to create "intro and outro" on the same time line instead of loading external SWFs bcos once the movie loaded as a whole will lead to smooth and contineous transitions.
I have created a swf (image1.swf) that has 2 "tweens" in it with a "stop" action at frame 20. I loaded the swf file correctly (into the current swf file "document 1") and it works the way I want it to by running and stopping at frame 20, code: on (release) {loadMovieNum("image1.swf",30);} The question I have is, is it possible to hit a button in my current swf file "document 1" and have it jump to a specific frame and play in my other swf file for instance jump to frame 21 and play to frame 40 in the image 1.swf. file?
I recently created a site using the "Transitions between External SWFs" tutorial for Flash MX 2004. I use this to load the sections of my site into the main movie file. Each section is an External SWF file. When a viewer clicks on a navigation button, the specific external swf move will load and play. Currently, a viewer would need to click on another navigation option to close the current external swf file. I would like to add a close button to each of the external swfs so that a view has the option to close the window without clicking on a naviagtion link.
I've got a slide show going on and the client wants it when it reaches the final slide, the next click of the right arrow button takes you to a URL. Thought I had it down in an if statement but it's not working.
var slides:Array=[slide1_mc,slide2_mc,slide3_mc,slide4_mc,slide5_mc, slide6_mc,slide7_mc,slide8_mc,slide9_mc,slide10_mc ,slide11_mc,slide12_mc,slide13_mc,slide14_mc,slide 15_mc,slide16_mc,slide17_mc,slide18_mc,slide19_mc, slide20_mc,slide21_mc,slide22_mc,slide23_mc,slide2 4_mc];[code].........
stop() var home_req:URLRequest = new URLRequest("home.html"); function home(event:MouseEvent):void[code].....
I created this flash intro (CS3) and after this flash intro, I want the home page to come up. It's not doing it. What am I doing wrong in this code? I want it to open in the same page.After my into, it's just a blank web page.
Im having trouble navigating from one point in a movie clip to another.My structure is looking like this:root > Products(mc) > Bracelet(mc)i have a button in the Bracelet Movieclip, which i want to navigate to frame 70 in the Products movie clip. Framelables dont work.
I'm trying to make a menu with a text that you can click on, and an animation will start - expanding a new three-button menu beneath it.These three seperate buttons were supposed to have their own menus expanding to the right of it when they are clicked.[code]the button is named "effekt" and the movieclip that is supposed to start is called "elforbrukning" of course. Why won't it work? I have tried _global and _parent._parent instead of _root with no success. I'm running out of ideas."kvadratmeter" and "effekt" lies in the same movieclip, is that the problem?
I have used flash in the head of my pages and have added navigation bar within that header I have attached code to the message so you are able to see the actionscript I have used to control said navigation. The problem is this does not seem to be working as I cannot navigate from one page to another
I have put 2 days into this simple problem now and I'm ready to give up and go back to AS2.I'm using CS4; publish settings AS3, 10.0. I have a button on frame 2 that should take me to frame 3 when clicked.(So far I've tried a hundred different ways but I don't get to frame 3...)Different things I tried...
> Creating the button dynamically from the library...
> Inserting it statically from the library on frame 2...
> referencing the mainTimeline through a variable...
> wrapping the gotoAndStop action in another function...(if placed directly on the timeLine the movie correctly goes straight to frame 3)
> naming frame 3...
> using 'nextFrame' instead of 'gotoAndStop'...etc..
In most cases I don't get an error in the output panel and no compiler error either; it just doesn't work!!!(Just stays on the same frame after I click the button)Here's the code I think should work; but doesn't.
Long time flash "dabbler" who has avoided using scripts as long as possible. But now finds himself having to use CS4 and AS3.
I have a situation that would have been easy to handle in older version of Flash or Swish. Previousely if I had an imported FLV or SWF that was 7 seconds long at 20 FPS I would have gone to frame 140 and set a getURL action to redirect to a webpage at the end of the movie.
But with CS4 & AS3, this is not so simple anymore.
I have a button that when pressed successfully invokes the navigateToURL parameter when pressed. But at the same time I am playing an FLV in the background that is 7 seconds long.
What I need to do is have a timed event that at the end of 7 seconds (7000 milliseconds) then invokes the navigateToURL function.
how to accomplish this? I have looked all over and have not seen anything that accomplishes this.
Here is what i have as my script on frame 1 in my actions layer including some timed event scripting
stop(); // We need to import the utils packageimport flash.utils.*; // Create a new Timer object with a delay of 7000 msvar introTimer:Timer = new Timer(7000);introTimer.addEventListener("timer", timedFunction);
I use scrollbar at the bottom of the timeline to go to different frames. This is slow if I have thousands of frames. I wonder if there is a similar interface like the Actions window for labels on timeline. I mean you can see all the scripts at left pane and be able to go there directly by clicking on anyone on the list. I would be nice if you can see all your labels in a menu and click to go there directly (I believe Director has that). Maybe I can put some dummy script in different label and then I can use Action window to travel to there.
I was wondering is there a way to have an embedded swf navigate to different pages of a pdf?
Example:my swf is on page one. There are mulitple buttons in the swf, when clicked it will take you to page 3, or 5, or 7, etc.
Currently, when I click on a button, it DOES take me to say page 4, but the content on page is the SWF file from page 1, and not the content that is suppose to be on page 4.[code]...
I just wanna create my own website using actionscript 3. I. I have 4 buttons, each links to a specific page but instead of using frames for each page. I just want a whole movieclip wherin the target page moves to its target loation. Here's the attached image[code]...
