I already have the encoder, FMS, and my AIR application all talking, so that portion is going well.The problem that I want to tackle next though is to have the FMS server record the live stream to it's hard drive. All of the guides that I've found talk about how to make a DVR stream, but that's not what I want. I want to be able to have the live stream, and then separately I would like to have it recorded.

but what i found in media encoder is i have to manually setup everything and it only support camera devices. But in my case i have multiple video files keep received from another program and place it on file system (server),my goal is use the Flash Media server to perform a live boardcasting with these video file one by one. That means when client watching a live streaming, they will not notice the server is playing mov1, then mov2, then mov3, then mov4... and so on.
You can imagine i am trying to boardcast a live footage say for 60sec, but the video file will not recorded entirely after 60sec, instead for every 10sec i will save a new video file, so that when client watching the live by HLS [URL]when the time reach to 10sec, a mov1 video file available and FMS should boardcast this video on live123.when the time reach to 20sec, a mov2 video file available and FMS should Immediately follow the mov1 boardcast on live123.and so on...Also can FMS dynamically create a new streaming session (invoke by code), so that when client A uploading some video files to the server, the FMS open a new streaming session only stream cilent A video files?the configuration to boardcasting like screen size, bit rate, etc should be pre-defined on the server. I have tried countless times in finding out from Adobe what would be the best solution to use the already 100s of videos encoded to H.264 in the mp4 container. Unfortunately, salesmen never know the answer yet keep asking me to buy. What benefits, if any is there to encoding to F4V over MP4 other than the ability to inject metadata without having to use a sidecar xmp file like you would if using MP4? The only downside I see with going F4V is that files will not be playable on set tops, gaming consoles, and also iPods.
Does FMS protect files already encoded to MP4 and if not, is there a tool to rewrap the MP4 into a F4V? My overall goal is to be able to put all metadata needed into the file and use actionscript 3 to populate the information on a web page and in the future an AIR app. I would love to pull the trigger and buy FMS but it just seems like the salesmen are reading from a brochure and never once address my questions let alone find me answers.
What we would like to do is create an archive (f4v or mp4) on the FMS 4 server any live stream that is pushed from our endpoints. Primarily as a backup and if necessary - an editable file within CS4 or CS5.
We are at a University and capture lecture powerpoints natively and sometimes need to edit the files. flv is not enough and we would like to take afvantage of mp4 and the FMS server while we use it for overflow as a recorder.
I'm using envivio 4Caster C4 to encode my videos from a ipstream, and them publish them to my wowza server, and al works fine.Now i'm making some tests with FMS development, in or to use it for live Flash http Dynamic streaming, but my fms server wont accept the connection from envivio.I used your tutorial below, to test it localy on my pc with windows, but when i installed it on my linux (Ubuntu) Server, i could no longer connect to it, neither with the Adobe media Live encoder, neither with Envivio, i allways receive a conection refused message.Do i need to make any special changes to the confugurations used on the tutorial?

Composite the 'overlay' media using normal alpha compositing into that asset at variable times (defined by the user). I'm trying to make a software which sends video and audio data to a flash media server by using RTMP protocol. Currently, my program can communicate with a flash media server correctly. RTMP specifications does not describe about the raw data in video/audio messages, so I muxed raw H.264 and AAC data into video/audio messages and sent to the server. The server seems to accept them, but a video player cannot playback the stream sending from the server. The player just says "Loading..." For a test purpose, I sniffed the network packets between Wirecast and the flash media server and ripped off only video and audio data. Then, I muxed those data into video/audio message and sent to the flash media server. In this case, the video player connected to the server can playback the stream correctly.
I checked the stream sent from Wirecast, the stream seems not to be H.264 raw data because those data are not started from 0x17 instead of H.264 start code. With those situation, I am wondering what kind of container format I should use for H.264/AAC data to the flash media server.

I have started a stream from Flash media encoder to flash media server. According to my encoder, it should be located at: "rtmp://localhost/live" and is called livestream.In the Flash software I try and set the source of FLVPlayback component to rtmp://localhost/live/livestream", and I get this error: "NetStream.Play.StreamNotFound : Adobe Flash tried to play a live or recorded stream that does not exist. Source can't be found.". Both the server and encoder is runnind and I am encoding.

When I play it on the client side the video plays just fine, but when I call Stream.play(filename, 0, -1, false) on the server side the video turns out really choppy.I both cases I use NetConnection to connect to an rtmp and NetStream to play the stream, but in one case I connect to a stream and request the server to play my file on that stream. Apparently that doesn't work with files? It works just fine for live streams.

View 10 RepliesI am testing RTMFP unicast for a video chat project using FM Developer Server 4.0.During the testing I overloaded the upload traffic to make packets dropped rather than suffering delay due to retransmission.
However, I see it makes a significant delay and it looks like doing retransmission just like RTMP.
Do you know if there is an option in FMS to disable the retransmission or other configuration I have to consider?One thing I found is "Netstream.videoReliable=false; Netstream.audioReliable=false;" but it doesn't make any difference.
I am running Media Server 3.5.2. The server is still non production. I copy video files to webroot/vod/video.flv. From the client workstation I attempt to access [URL] and get nothing. It was my understanding video's copied here could be viewed as such.
