Media Server :: FMS 3.0.1 FMS Service Freezing / Failing To Restart
Mar 24, 2011
I know that we are an entire version behind the current, but this is due to problems with a failed upgrade due to a bug in FMS with streaming our (3TB) collection of .mp4's with the new version... that being said, onto our current trouble...
I'm using the server Stream.play() method to playback a recorded stream, it plays back fine until it hits the buffer limit (Say I set the buffer to 5 seconds, it will playback fine for 5 seconds). But then it freezes and playback is very stuttery (1 frame every 2/3 seconds). Is this a know issue? I'm using windows 2008 server. I've tried a few things to resolve this but no luck. The server is running the dev license and has no load.
i have FMS Installed And after its installed i also Install The Addon Auth to make a username and password so no one else can just start a Stream but after i install it and restart the server it wont work any the fms does work but the addon doesn't.
I've now had two occurances of SWFVerification not enabling itself when the values are added to the application.xml for a client app. We've enabled it with an empty dir and any player will still get through.I tried to add a "not-really-the-player.swf" to confirm that it will reject all other connections, and they still get through.I've tried reloading the Application, and that also has had no effect. In a previous instance, only after the VHost is restarted, will SWFVerification start to work. This presents a rather large issue for us - as we host 100s of other client application connections on multiple boxes that do SWFverification, so it's not simple to just "reboot" these boxes.
I am really new at this forum thing and am quite an amateur when it comes to computers, I am taking some classes, so please be patient with my ignorance when it comes to computers You Tube, Ehow, or any kids web sights(for my kids),ie:PBS; continuously freezes. I just recently bought a Samsung RV511. When I first started using it adobe worked just fine but only for about a month and now I don't remember changing anything. The only advice I have gotten was that I should back up and restore my computer. I have not done this because I am not sure exactly what it will affect. I have backed up my computer to a external hard drive but that is as far as I have gotten.
I understand that the Flash Interactiver Server has this feature called 'Adobe Media Player Tracking Service' which the free version dosen't have. Any idea what ' Adobe Media Player Tracking Service' is and what it does
We have a custom application that is running on FMS. Server is dedicated just for fms, there is only one application running on the server, with more instances, average traffic is 3-15 simultaneous users. The problem is,server suddenly stops accepting connections (after 1-3 days from restart), from this point it is impossible to connect to any instance, and fms server must be restarted. When the server crashes, the admin console can see all open instances, can close instances, can restart fms. There is nothing logged, that would explain this sudden failure.Second problem is, cores are connected and disconnected too often, causing client to reconnect (takes 2-5 seconds).

I came across a very strange issue. There was a session in which no fso has been recorded. It was a session of around 110min with more then 10 users as per the logs. Flv have been recorded for the session and I can see the chat text file which has been written from server side script but no fso has been recorded for the whole session. While cross checking the logs access log and Master log i saw that the last message recorded on that particular session was around 14:47 and in master log i see following lines:
2010-04-18 14:52:56 52768 (i)2581223 Core (56012) is no longer active. -2010-04-18 14:52:56 52768 (w)2581256 Core (56012) _defaultRoot_:_defaultVHost_:::_0 experienced 1 failure[s]! 56012 is the core process on which this session was running. So is it somehow related? I mean no fso being recorded on server with core recycling? In access log these are the last 2 messages on this core:disconnect session 2010-04-18 14:52:20 Central Daylight Time 186.24.19.5 56012connect session 2010-04-18 14:52:46 Central Daylight Time 186.24.19.5 56012 FMS server version is:FMS is 3.0.2Windows server 2003.
I built an advertising website for one of my clients. Hewould like the website members (advertisers) to be able to uploadvideos and have them automatically appear on the website(Sort oflike how YouTube works, but he doesn't want to use YouTube).
I have Flash Media Server installed on Windows Server 2007. I configured the Flash Media Server service to Automatic (Delayed Start), using a network logon instead of the local system account. In case you are curious, I use the network logon for the service because I need Flash Media Server to be able to access media stored on a network share. My problem is that, despite the Automatic start, the service does not seem to start automatically. Also, if I log out of that network account, the service seems to stop. what I can do to make sure that Flash Media Server will always start, as well as keep it running even if no accounts are logged in?
I have Flash media server 3.5 and it is working fine but now a days Apache service is automatically stoped so all streaming services is stopd then i restart the Flash Media Server after restart FMS goes smothly and all streaming services goes smothly.ut this issue, below are the event viewer detail wehere the appache service stop detail is mentioned.
here is the event viewer details for FMS Event Type: InformationEvent Source: FMS (Master)Event Category: (258)Event ID: 1413Description:C:Program FilesAdobeFlash Media Server
currently, we're running FML 2 and I'm writing a very simple recording application that generates a random stream name and publishes a flv using the microphone on the user's computer. The error I'm running into is that the first time I press record (and run netstream.publish(fileName, "record")) it always fails. if I stop recording, then rerecord it works fine.
like I said, it always fails when I first "record". if I end the recording and start again it works fine.(the trace basically reads NetStream.Record.NoAccess) a workaround I did was to put a publish and close immediately in the begininng to "trick" it to recording.
The Apache service named reported the following error: >>>[Thu Feb 16 17:07:10 2012] [info] mod_jithttp - FMS installation path: "C:/Program Files/Adobe/Flash Media Server 4.5/"I installing FMS 4.5 in windows 2008 r2 X64 ,but apache error ,pls help me? why?
I am working on a project using flex/java/blazeds. This worked fine on local host however now that i have uploaded to a tomcat server(online), after having an error with the service uri, this error has now seemingly been solved, yet I am receiving another error which is as follows:
I have an ASPX script that load the properties of a long list of objects from database (about 1000).
Then I have a spinning mc to entertain the user while data is loaded.
The problem is that it starts to spin, and then, at certain point of data reading the animation freezes indicating that Flash is too busy gathering and putting data into the LoadVars object (it restarts to spin after finish data reading).
Question is: there is a way to override this and force Flash to give priority to the animation? I think that's a very ugly behavior by the point of view of user and would be nice if it could be fixed.
Personally I cannot see another way to turnaround it but performing several smaller and consecutives database readings (to reduce CPU load), but I think that's a totally unaceptable solution...
Can Adobe Flash Media Streaming Server 3.5 run on AMD Athlon Dual Sock Quad Core?I just requested a Dell server to be added to our farm to run as a Media Server and to my surprise, while reading the requirements for FMS it states the following: 3.2GHz Intel® Pentium® 4 processor (dual Intel Xeon® or faster recommended)
I'm trying to troubleshoot a Flash Media Server working with a little video playback application I wrote a few years ago that has suddenly stopped working.I'm using CS3/Actionscript 3.My app uses the FLVPlayback Component, and was working well last time I checked. I recevied a report that the videos stopped working, and have been looking into it.I figured I'd add a bunch of event listeners to the FLVPlayback's ncMgr.netConnection so I could get debug info on things like io errors, net status, etc.The problem I'm running into is that the netConnection is null when I set it to anything on my Flash Media Server, and adding any event listeners to this netConnection throws errors. Here's what I've tried so far:
Playback of a local FLV file works fine.In the FLVPlayback documentation, I found an example and stole the URL of the stream they were using in the example, and that works fine, although it is an HTTP protocol stream rather than RTMP.Any attempt to access FLV files on my Media Server, which has worked fine in the past, basically cause the FLVPlayback object to sit and hang in "buffering" mode and never progresses beyond this point. The netConnection object in this case is null. Here's my code:[code]........
Again the purpose of this is to troubleshoot the video streaming from the Flash Media Server, and it seems like there is no netconnection to the server being created.Does this mean that the server is not working, or is there a problem with the way I'm trying to access the content on the server? This was all working fine before, and I have set up the server-side application .ASC files and such to allow things to work fine on the server end.
I'm trying to make a software which sends video and audio data to a flash media server by using RTMP protocol. Currently, my program can communicate with a flash media server correctly. RTMP specifications does not describe about the raw data in video/audio messages, so I muxed raw H.264 and AAC data into video/audio messages and sent to the server. The server seems to accept them, but a video player cannot playback the stream sending from the server. The player just says "Loading..." For a test purpose, I sniffed the network packets between Wirecast and the flash media server and ripped off only video and audio data. Then, I muxed those data into video/audio message and sent to the flash media server. In this case, the video player connected to the server can playback the stream correctly.
I checked the stream sent from Wirecast, the stream seems not to be H.264 raw data because those data are not started from 0x17 instead of H.264 start code. With those situation, I am wondering what kind of container format I should use for H.264/AAC data to the flash media server.
I have to a problem using the Flash Media Interactive Server Feature Explorer. I want use the sample: RecordStream. I can see the instance "RecordStream" in console FMS 3.5. and show me the video in app AIR, but does not save the .FLV in my server.
I have Flash Media Streaming Server 3.5 (not Interactive) running on RHEL5.5 x86_64 Linux. All is working well, however how do I prevent unauthorized access to connecting to the live stream and streaming content? How can I setup the server to require a user and password to stream live media to the server?I am new to this product and I have been reading some documentation but I have not found a clear cut answer on how to force a username and password to connect to the server to stream live content only.I am using the Adobe FMS Apache install, what files need changing?[code]I want to lock down a person from connecting to the server on the public internet and starting a live stream? Can this be done with a user name and password?
We purchased FMIS and we are encoding large 15+ hour MP4 recordings using flash media encoder. When opening these large files for playback, which have not been opened recently the player displays the loading indicator for up to 4 minutes! Once it has apparently been cached on the server it opens immediately from any browser even after clearing local browser cache. So a few questions for the experts
1. Why is it taking so long to load the file. Is it because the MP4 metadata is in the wrong format and the file is so huge? I read somewhere that Media Encoder records with incorrect MP4 metadata is that still the case?
2. Once its cached on the server, exactly how much of it is cached. Some of these files are larger than 500mb.
3. What fms settings do you suggest I change. FMIS is running on windows server R2 64 bit, but FMIS itself is 32 bit. We have not upgraded to the 64 bit version. We have 8GB of ram. Is it OK to set FMS cache to 3GB. And would that only have enough room for 3-4 large files, because we have hundreds of them.
I am using flash media server 4.5 for video streaming and genrate log files. In log file i have found the user publish point name in "x-sname" filed but this filed contains blank values in many events. This fileds contains value only in "PUBLISH,UN_PUBLISH,RECORD and PUBLISH_CONTONUE" event and other then these 4 events all events are not user related event.?I like to fetch the user bandwidth detials using these log files which user used how many bandwidth.I also like to know I can see serval files on flash log folder name "access.00.log,access001.log and admin.00.log,admin.001.log" Any one please explain what is the name convation for this filed how can i identifiy which files contains information for which date.?
I'm building a video conferencing applicaition for a portal. But now when considering which version of flash media server to buy, I run into some problem. So can anyone helps me about comparing this two versions: Flash Media Streaming Server and Flash Media Interactive server, like if I use Flash Media Streaming Server, some function like NetStream.pause() may not work or something like that? I'm not sure if this is a foolish question but please let me know.
