Mar 8, 2011I am very new to action script. I want to stop the stream from publishing then later on i want to publish the same stream again. My problem is that I have 3 levels of stream processing (Ingress-Rename ProxyLimelight-AuthProxy-Live) before it goes live. User wants to stop stream from publishing and then publish the same stream when he wants in each level. User does not want to start the stream from the begining, he wants to restart the stream on the same where he stopped.

How can I instal a password (I don't mean SSL), to prevent that unauthorized persons can stream their own content over my server. This means, the Flash Media Encoder should ask for a password and username.

I want to let the live stream stopping status after be load completed.but after I set the autoPlay=false, the fms live stream is not stopping status after be load completed.
However I try the fms vod stream as the autoPlay=false ,is can stop .
what's different the live stream and vod stream. why the vod stream can stop but live stram can't stop?
Media Server :: Why Does Audio Stop After Minute When Watching A Live Stream
Apr 6, 2009HI installed flash media server 3.0.4 on a Windows 2003 server.I am using the default LIVE application and broadcasting to it using FME version 3.0 Inside FME I choose MP3 as the audio codec, stereo and 128kbps When I watch the stream everything works fine but after a minute (sometimes 2 minutes) the sound disappears and I can only see the video run.If I refresh the page that contains the SWF that plays the stream then the sound works again but then again after a minute the sound stops and only the video continues to play. It is important to say that this only happens when I play a live stream from a server that is located outside of my local LAN. If I play a stream from my development FMS server in my local LAN this problem doesn't happen using the same SWF and same settings in FME.Moreover, if I use the nellymoser audio codec then everything works fine and this problem doesn't happen also. The thing is that I want to broadcast a live event and it is very important that the audio sounds good (stereo and 192kbps) and if I use the nellymoser codec the results aren't that good.

Mar 10, 2012Is it possible to stop a (live) Stream from playing for a user, but keep his NetConnection open for eg chat functionality?I only see a setBandwidthLimit to accomplish something similar to this, but then, if BW is set to 0, chat won't work.Why isn't there a built in feature to do something of seemingly common necessity like Client.stream.stop/change function to stop or change what video playback the client sees?

Oct 13, 2010I'm trying to figure out whether or not it's possible to have two incoming streams to the same FMS server. Every time I try to search this information, I find stuff on having multiple outgoing streams, but nothing on multiple incoming streams.
The two streams will have the same content, but will use different video / audio codecs, and be set to different resolutions / bitrates.
I don't want to spend the money on another server, so it'd be great to know if FMS can do this..

Oct 12, 2011I've now had two occurances of SWFVerification not enabling itself when the values are added to the application.xml for a client app.We've enabled it with an empty dir and any player will still get through.I tried to add a "not-really-the-player.swf" to confirm that it will reject all other connections, and they still get through.I've tried reloading the Application, and that also has had no effect.In a previous instance, only after the VHost is restarted, will SWFVerification start to work.This presents a rather large issue for us - as we host 100s of other client application connections on multiple boxes that do SWFverification, so it's not simple to just "reboot" these boxes.

Oct 8, 2010Only just getting started on this whole domain of learning, so go easy!If I set up a P2P video/audio chat (similar to the sample VideoPhone thing on the Cirrus site), can I get the stream from both parties to send to a server at the same time so that I can record it? If so, would I have to use a FMS to stream it to and perform the recording (and if so which version could I get away with)? Are there any (preferably free, or just tutorialised) solutions for the recording side of things?
Currently it seems like the only option for doing the P2P thing is to use Stratus/Cirrus unless I use FMS4 Enterprise.
how effective this kind of situation can be, in terms of quality of the stream and recording? Does any of this make sense?
Media Server :: Write Access Denied For Stream Error When Recording Audio Stream
Jul 26, 2010I've had FMS running on my local machine for a while and have had a little experience writing FMS apps, but I've just tried recording audio for the first time using the standard vod application and I keep getting a "Write access denied for stream" error. My AS3 code is copied and pasted for various examples and am confident that it works.
I'm running Windows XP service pack 3 & FMIS 3.5.
I've had a look at the vod/media directory and under windows->properties the read-only attribute is ticked. Every time I un-tick this it reverts back to being ticked. I've googled this and MS say that most programs ignore the read-only attribute and that it only really applied to files. I've also tried the MS fix for setting the read-only attribute via cmd and still no joy (doesn't fix read-only attribute or FMS recording the audio after setting via cmd).
I've also tried our dev server install of FMS (running under linux) and am getting the same results.

My Encoder is setup with three streams: Vid: 500 kbps - Audio: 48 kbpsVid: 800 kbps - Audio: 48 kbpsVid: 1500 kbps - Audio: 48 kbps I start the encoder and everything looks fine in the log. In my browser (Safari or Firefox) I go to my html site and the stream starts after 6-8 sec. But anytime with the lowest bitrate 548 kbps and nothing look like the stream is switching to another bitrate. I tried it with the smil playlist and the result is the same. Only the lowest bitrate is plublished.

Aug 27, 2010I'm having a problem with recording a live webcam stream. The last few seconds of the stream is getting cut off.
The recording is stopped with the following piece of code:
vid.attachCamera(null);
vid.clear();
ns.attachCamera(null);
ns.attachAudio(null);
ns.pause();
What could be causing this? Is the stream cut off too soon? Is the client unable to send buffered data to the server?

Dec 12, 2011I'm trying to stream a HDS live multi-bit stream, it seems to push to the FMS but my player doesn't display the stream.Are these settings and files correct? The documenation is confusing on what and which files need to be edited and/or created.

Oct 7, 2009We have a custom application that is running on FMS. Server is dedicated just for fms, there is only one application running on the server, with more instances, average traffic is 3-15 simultaneous users.The problem is,server suddenly stops accepting connections (after 1-3 days from restart), from this point it is impossible to connect to any instance, and fms server must be restarted.When the server crashes, the admin console can see all open instances, can close instances, can restart fms. There is nothing logged, that would explain this sudden failure.Second problem is, cores are connected and disconnected too often, causing client to reconnect (takes 2-5 seconds).
Hardware: 4 x quadcore Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E7440 @ 2.40GHz, 32 GB ram
OS: CentOS release 5.3 (Final), kernel: 2.6.18-128.4.1.el5
cpu and mem usage: 1-5% max[code]...........
Media Server :: Core Process Restart/re-cycle Have An Impact On Fso/flv Of Running Session?
Apr 21, 2010I came across a very strange issue. There was a session in which no fso has been recorded. It was a session of around 110min with more then 10 users as per the logs. Flv have been recorded for the session and I can see the chat text file which has been written from server side script but no fso has been recorded for the whole session. While cross checking the logs access log and Master log i saw that the last message recorded on that particular session was around 14:47 and in master log i see following lines:

Media Server :: Stream.play On Server Side Makes Video Choppy?
Apr 30, 2010I have an *.flv file on a FMS. When I play it on the client side the video plays just fine, but when I call Stream.play(filename, 0, -1, false) on the server side the video turns out really choppy.I both cases I use NetConnection to connect to an rtmp and NetStream to play the stream, but in one case I connect to a stream and request the server to play my file on that stream. Apparently that doesn't work with files? It works just fine for live streams.
