I have just entered Falsh and for some strange reason none of my layers are named. Not only that, when I draw a circle for instance and I want to move that circle. I have to move the line and the fill seperate... I think this has something to do with the layers not being named. I will be posting a print screen. Click the link. [URL]

here is my new code that works for PART of my movie. i have two dynamic text boxes, one named "item" and one named "ssnumber" ssnumberNode works fine but itemNode does not. i bolded the parts that i think are relevant to the problems

the snow effect always acts like the top layer, ok what i mean is, i have 3 layers, (1)toplayer= a car, (2)middle= snow, (3)low= background.I want to make the snow to be seen behind the car...i hope you understand what i mean , whenever i put the code from the link above it acts as the top layer and appears in front of everything.

View 1 RepliesNovice Flash dev here. I'm having a bit of trouble passing the name of an existing MC on my stage to a new variable and then tweening it. I've tried everything I could find.Here is the set-up:
3 levels of question difficulty: Easy, Moderate, Hard. Each question is a seperate MC in the library.Each question has two strings of text: one normal and one altered.container_MC contains all of the questions.Inside container_MC each frame contains one of the question MCs along with a second MC called highlight.Each of these frames is then labeled with the difficulty of the question and the question number i.e. easyQuestion1.Highlight is a MC containing a box that surrounds the alteration. It is labled the same as the frame +"Highlight" i.e. easyQuestion1Highlight.Each of the highlight boxes has Alpha =0.Each frame also contains the variables that determine the correct answer and the difficulty of the question.NONE of the objects on the stage have been added dynamically with addChild (note the Novice portion of my intro :D).
On my maintimeline I have one instance of container_MC. If the player selects the correct answer the current frames highlight box changes from Alpha =0 to Alpha =1.

Suppose I have Flash navigation on an HTML website and want one of the Flash buttons to link to an anchor point within the HTML page that the Flash nav is embedded (i.e. and anchor like this: <a name="top" id="top"></a>) For the Flash navigation, I can link to this anchor by adding the following actionScript to the button:

Is it possible to have a link in Flash link to a different (named anchor) section of an HTML document? I suspect not but I imagine it may be doable with Javascript. Anyone know anything about this?

Is it possible to add layers, re-order layers, move movieclips from layer to layer or specify which layer a duplicate movieclip appears on at runtime with AS3?I am aware of the depth properties and the functions associated with that but it would be easier to have a concept of a layer because I am dealing with masks.I have a nasty feeling I'm gonna be told that layers don't really exist within an swf and that depths and setmask are all there is to work with.

View 1 RepliesMy testing on the Mac side is pointing toward the Behaviors palette as to the culprit in this issue. As soon as I open that palette in my workspace, the ability to double click on a layer name in the Timeline palette stops. I have to right click and select Properties from the popup menu. Resetting my custom workspace does resolve the problem.

View 1 RepliesI purchased the Adobe CS4 Web Premium for the MAC and a Flash template from ozzu.com. The template contains 201 items in it's library but it's only showing 13 layers in the timeline. When I create a new layer, it display a blank "Layer 61", so I'm assuming there are 60 layers created for the template by the original template designer. When I test the movie, it shows all the buttons, pages, images, text, etc. But when I go to Control and Play, it only displays whatever is in the 13 layers, that is, only a tiny portion of the entire template. How do I display all the images, buttons, text, etc.in the timeline so that they will show up in the Stage area?

But when my images appears, I have other buttons (whose layers are on top of this current button layer) also appear on top of my images. I tried merging all my buttons onto one layer, but that doesn't seem to work either.

View 2 RepliesI'm creating some sort of flash video site. It consists of a several HD video's. The background video is 1920x1080. In front of it there is an object witch is also a video, but it it is stopped at first frame. When mouse is over this object - I play the video.
And here's the thing - when I firstly move cursor to the object - it plays like 5-6 fps. From the moment when video plays single time - it starts to go smoothly.
I use FLV files as videos and a sequence of PNG as an object on the video. FLV and PNG is 1920x1080. Flv and PNG's are loaded in the SWF file directly from library.
Here's the questions : Is there some sort of file buffering when the files are firstly displayed? Will it be better to load video from External files?
Is it possible to draw a sprite, on a movieclip, on a specific layer? I have a MC I created in the Flash designer, and it has 3 layers on it, background, some layout stuff, and then some text. In actionscript i've created a Sprite object in code, drawn a rectangle on it, and added it to the stage with addChild (called from within the MC). The problem is, the sprite is always being drawn above all the layout stuff I added in the designer. Is there any way to add the sprite to the MC at a specific layer? In this case the background layer. I tried changing the z on the sprite and no effect.

- Flash document size 1920x1080
- In the background will be multiple HD videos(probably StageVideo that I will make show and play at certain events - like transition to the menu category)
- In the center of the screen will be a fancy menu object that consists of a PNG sequence's.(6 sequences)
- And a FLV HD Video in the foreground with alpha(maybe some visual effects).
The question is : Is it possible to make something like this without the users to experience lags?
This virus named "jusched" that infects Java specifically, then associated applications like flash seems impossible to rid my computer(s)/ network of. I've tried every scanning/security program I can find. I've gone through the registry, files, subfiles and any other place I can think of and deleted it, but it keep showing up once a java application is started causing me to spend hours each time I use java and then restart to disable it and much as I am able.
This has brought my production to a complete halt and my firm is in trouble because of it. We have little production now over the last 10 days. My tech guy's tell me the only remaining solution they can think of is to reconfigure the entire network, and each owrk station, replace all hard drives and begin a 4-7 day over haul of the system to get it back into working order. how to defeat his thing so I don't have to take such drastic measures?
I have a movieclip instance named 'placeholder' on the canvas, and I want to change the alpha of the named movieclip from it's class without effecting the alpha of all the movieclips of the same type. How would I specifically target the named movieclip instance that is on the canvas?
View 3 RepliesI have a class called Mouse (tracking button states in a game). I want that class to be able to show and hide the mouse cursor. Whenever I try to use flash.ui.Mouse.show() or flash.ui.Mouse.hide() I get the error: "Access of undefined property flash.".
I can't import flash.ui.Mouse for obvious reasons.
Is there a way to make this work? What's the point of packages if they don't resolve these collisions?
I am having a problem with a flash piece that I created. I don't understand why it is doing what it is doing. I am new to flash but I have been developing software and database applications for over 10 years.I am trying to make a horizontal scroller piece that reads in data from an xml document. So basically the XML has properties of image, title, and link, I then load the images and titles into an object spaced out properly and link the image to open a new window when the image is clicked. I have 4 layers:
1. Actions
2. Buttons
3. Layer1
4. Scroller
The buttons layer has 2 buttons on it, one left aligned and one right aligned. When you mouse over the buttons, the images in the scroller move the direction the button image is pointing. The Scroller Layer has an object of type scroller (which i made) and that scroller instance name is scrollerbar.In actionscript I use a sprite object to load the image and then use scrollerbar.addChild(photo) to add the sprite into the scrollerbar. Then I set it's width, height, x and y to be in the correct position.Now when this first runs, it works displays 6 images and titles and they are linked, and has a button on the left and right. When I mouseover either of the buttons, everything gets moved to the right, the buttons, the scroller, and all the images inside the scroller. So the left button is no longer against the left side, and you can hardly see the right button because it almost gets pushed outside the viewable area.Can anyone explain why everything is getting pushed over like that? It only happens the first time you mouse over a button, subsequent mouseovers of either button do not cause this to happen again.[code]
