ActionScript 3.0 :: Gallery Page With A Bunch Of Page Numbers - Click On A Page Number, The Over Script Should Stop Until Go To Another Page?

Jan 26, 2009

i'm trying to build a flash site and ran into a problem... i have a gallery page with a bunch of page numbers at the top. when you click on one, a movieclip loads of some images coming in.so the problem i'm having is that i made a little animation for when you roll the mouse over the page number (they scale up when the mouse is over, scale back when the cursor moves away)... what it's doing is when you roll over, it goes to a certain frame in the timeline and plays that animation.that's all working cool, but i need it to not do that once it's clicked on. so basically when you actually click on a page number, the over script should stop until you go to another page... here's the code i've written,

function over(event:MouseEvent):void {
this.gotoAndPlay(30);}
function out(event:MouseEvent):void {[code].....

Flash :: Get Actionscript3 To Type Cast Numbers And Ints In XML Files As Numbers And Ints?

Aug 28, 2009

Everything seems to be a string right now & that kinda ruins the whole xml as an internal data structure thing, I don't need a big tree of string I need typed data :-/ Are there any changes I can make to either my XML files or my AS3 code that will force it to cast ints as ints and Numbers as Numbers? Or maybe some kind of type schema I can impose? Not really worked with XML til recently so chances are I'm just ignorant of the canonical way to deal with this...

How can I use sendAndLoad to call a php page with flash, and have that page create a user download box, to save a txt file? I have the php code that outputs a text file:

Code:
Header('Content-Type: application/octet-stream');
Header('Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=test.txt');
// Print the text to be sent
echo "hi";

That would force a download box if you ran the php page but the send and load will not get it to work.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Searching A XML File By A Range Of Numbers?

Aug 16, 2010

I am almost finished with my project and I am once again stumped on how to tackle a search feature. I have one more section to do that will be a printing function.

Having an XML file, I need to search this file based on a range for criteria.

My XML data will have many sets of data separated by a gamenumber tag. The gamenumber is unique in value but the sub data will not be. There will be same values in that range.

So what I am looking to do is search anywhere from 2 to 10 gamenumbers at a time with 2-10 numbers. These numbers are in an input box and get called from a click event listener.

I have the routine working to search 1 data set but I can for the life of me think of how to do multiple data sets in one shot.

Here is an example,

Search games 2-5 for numbers 2 7 13 19 43 80 etc... Each number is in it's own input box.

The results could be an array or 4 different strings. It should be dynamic because the searches will changes from 2-10 games.

I am using an if else if statement to separate the searches and run it's own routine. So when the start number is not null and the second search number is null, it only searches a single record. The search parses only the data based on the start number search input box.

But if the end number is not null, it will go to the routine and search the scope of the the number range. I am thinking that the routine starts with the start number and then use each gamenumber in a loop to parse the data for that game only and store the results. Append each result into an array or strings.

I looked at for each and for in loops but I am not seeing who to put it together yet.

Here is what the XML Data looks like

Code:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<Container>
<Game>

ActionScript 2.0 :: Loading Stuff From A Txt File To Be Used As Numbers?

Just wondering. Is it possible to load data from a external txt file in AS2? in particular using the data loaded as a number variable to use for say a Maximum number in a timer counter? for example, say the text file has the variable&numOfPhotos=3how can you make it so flash AS2 can read the variable and convert the number (which I guess is a string) into a Number variable, ready for the swf to use in number related activities?

Audio - Same Flash File (.swf) Downloaded Multiple Times On A Page

Jun 17, 2010

I have a page that has a table with each row corresponding to an audio file. The last cell in each row embeds a simple flash audio player. The problem is that the flash file for the player is being downloaded for each row separately and as soon as rows go beyond 40-50 it crashes the browser.

I tried using different players (1pixelout, flash-mp3-player) and the problem is still there, so its not a player specific issue.

Is there any way to cache the player so that it is only downloaded once?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Load Flash File From A Link On An Html Page?

Jun 23, 2004

I want to get an idea on how the majority of people structure the flash websites they make.First, do most of you actionscripters, when creating a website, use a parent movie that holds the sites navigation and an embedded blank movie clip to load individual content pages? I get the feeling that is true because it saves a lot of space in your swf file.

That was the easiest question. Next, when you create a transition effect to keep the viewer occupied between loading different pages, how do you usually go about this?Assuming you have a blank movieclip in the main SWF to load individual page content.Do you have a movieclip animation that is called in the main SWF that is a layer above or masks the container movieclip which is loading the external content? Or, do you have the transition in the actual content SWF, with a transition in effect, midframe with the content, then transition out effect.

It seems the second choice might be a little more repetitive, but maybe a little more simple, then again, maybe not.My last question is not actionscript but javascript.I want to load my flash file from a link on an html page that launches a new window that is perfectly sized around the flash movie, with none of the menu bars and that works on windows(ie, netscape, opera) and MACs.As a secondary, if its possible,I would like to have the flash movie pop up into the center of the screen, right now it pops into the top left corner.Here is the script I have. It works for PCs with IE, but a friend that looked at it on her MAC had to resize the window:

Code:
<A HREF="" onClick="window.open('flashmovie.html', 'newWnd',
'width=750,height=400'); return false;">Try this</A>

The flash.html is the automatic html page that flash publishes your SWF file.

if you test the fla you'll see that all i get in my array is some lovely zero's and i sort of know why this is, but don't know how to stop it.
