I have Flash CS4 and whenever I right-click on an image to select "Edit with..." I get that annoying Micro$oft photo editor. Where do I change this so it will open images in Photoshop for editing?

View 4 RepliesI can't edit it in the sense that I am unable to go in and take the eraser tool and erase a section of the scene on that layer that wasn't created in Flash. I can draw on it in Flash and modify it that way. I can effect it via tweens enlarge, alpha transparency etc. But I can't erase part of the graphic that I created outside of Flash in Photoshop.I've tried erasing on the graphic itself, also after it's converted to a movie clip - inside the movie clip's timeline etc. It doesn't work. As I said , I can draw on it and effect it but I can't erase part of what was already in it before it was imported from PS4.
View 1 RepliesI'm having a hard time figuring out the best way to import graphics from Photoshop. I tried importing a psd for an arrow shape into Flash CS5. The imported image looks good. But when I right click on the imported image and choose 'Edit with Photoshop', it's just a flattened version. Is there another way of importing that keeps the editability of the original psd?

Everytime Photoshop CS4 is open it will cause Flash Cs4 to Crash. I can work in Flash without any issues until Photoshop is opened. Flash will usually crash in under 5 min with Photoshop open. I have tested this over and over and it is Photoshop causing Flash to crash. Does not matter whether I am running the 32 or 64 bit version of Photoshop. I am starting to believe it is a memory issue but I am not sure or how to fix if it is.I have tested the memory and it passed all tests. This is really killing my production time.

View 1 Replieswe're developing an app that should be able to open specified file with default editor application. (so if it is .doc - it suppose to be opened by MSWord or openOffice)
But I also need to wait until user will close the editor, check if it was changed (by size and date), and upload it to the server.
So the following steps:
1) find def editor
2) open file
3) wait it be closed
4) do smth after that with the file.
now results of my research:
-> opening by def editor is simple: file.openWithDefaultApplication();
but there is no way to know that editor is closed (maybe by checking that file is not locked in timer???)
-> i can start the native process and pass file as parameter BUT looks like the code NativeApplication.nativeApplication.getDefaultApplication(file.extension); does not work for any extension :( - it doesnt work for "rtf", "doc" but works for "pdf"... and [file.openWithDefaultApplication()] works fine with any file!

From this gallery I want to allow them to flag images they like then submit the selections to me via email.Currently they are using the gallery just to view the images. There is not a way to mark the images or to submit them via email. The clients have to manually write down the file names, type and email, and send it to me.
1. Can the function of selection boxes be added to the web gallery? I do not own the full flash program.
2. Can the file names for the selected images be put into an email to me using a submit button?
I am trying to figure out how to open a pop up window in my Air application, in a secondary Window, instead of the main application window.I am using the ReusableFX components, which include a custom DataGrid with filtering and other capabilities. The filtering feature displays a pop up window via PopUpManager when you click on the top of a column in the grid.
PopUpManager.addPopUp(this, FlexGlobals.topLevelApplication as DisplayObject);
The problem is that the pop up window opens in the main application - I am assuming because of the 'topLevelApplication' reference.So, I need a way to open this window in the current Air "s:Window". I am assuming I need a way to walk up : this.parent.parent or this.owner.owner - though I have tried that and it did not seem to work (it said null reference).OR, is there a way to get the current top most window / component (NOT the main application / window)?
Update:I decided to create a new project for the component, and add in the Air libraries. Now I am able to access the "NativeApplication.nativeApplication.activeWindow" call. That gives me the correct Air window. However, it does not seem to be working:
PopUpManager.addPopUp(this, NativeApplication.nativeApplication.activeWindow as DisplayObject);
My popup does not appear. I am assuming because "activeWindow" is not actually a DisplayObject?(so how do I get the DisplayObject if that's the case?)

View 3 RepliesI'm a complete novice to ActionScript, OOP and Flash. I have no idea when you are supposed to use the keyword "this". I have searched the forums but obviously searching for the word "this" is not very successful! I've read quite a few tutorials now and it seems that different people have different opinions on when and where it should be used. For example what should I be doing in the following class? Both seem to work but is one the "correct" way? Are there situations where things will not work if you omit the "this"?

I have another possibly related question with regards to naming conventions. I like the use of underscores for properties with getters and setters but what about the names of the constructor parameters that are used to initialise these properties? In the above example I have used "radius" for the constructor parameter although it is also used for the getter and setter functions. It seems a bit of a palaver to come up with different names for the same quantity but is what I have done really bad coding practice?

Ok the fourth page of the website is a portfolio page with 16 thumbnails (4 across 4 down) which opens a larger pic on the same page to the right.
I can't figure out what to change. The first and third thumb down seem to be linked and open the same image. Same with two and two down from that and so on. I want to separate them so each open their own image. If I edit it in PS both thumbs change...

I have images which I have been broken to resize them to suit my design. What happens is that every now and then when I re-enter my flash movie these images turn red and I have to do the whole image imputing and breaking apart process once more.......

Then, I load myurl's image into img_container.This works when I test the swf while flash open, but not while I test in the standalone swf thats exported on my computer, or on a browser. View 3 RepliesIn my application I'm using a custom embedded font for English (Helvetica New) which does not contain characters (glyphs) for chinese unicode range. In the application, wherver chinese characters are avaiable they are not displayed (suppressed) since they are missing in the custom embedded font. How can I make the flash player to use a fallback system font for the missing characters? And the fallback should be for the missing characters alone. For the Engligh characters it should use the embedded font.

I put in the following information into the FLME:

Stream: mp4:sample.f4v
Then click 'Connect' , but I get an error "Failure to connect to primary server verify that your server URL and application name are valid and that your internet connection is working and retry". My server is a 32-bit windows 2007 VPS , with FMS running.I don't know if I set up the DVR Cast application correct. All I did was copy the dvrcast_origin into the installationdirectory/applications, then I started a new instance of dvrcast_origin with _definst_...Also, I am running the trial version of FMS, and DVR needs FMIS. Is there a way I can just run FMIS?
I need to make a video page. i used a flash player and implemented the videos on the pages. now my client needs that, the same page have to work with ipads, i know that we have to use html5 video player for that.
My question is in case eventhough html5 video supportable player available that should play the flash content first. in case it will not run the flash player then it should run the html5.
