Playing FLV Files On The Timeline In Secondary Scene?

Nov 2, 2009

I'm currently working on a project where I mix animation sequences with short videos. My project also has two scenes and the FLV will be placed on the main time line of the second scene. The problem I am having is, if the movie is previewed from the first scene, or exported, the FLV on scene 2 won't load. the timeline on the playhead will just spin. I'm currently using "Load external video with playback component" as the method for importing the flv file.I have already worked with this video multiple times in other flash files and have never had a problem loading the video. Is there a limitation to FLV playback in multiple scene movies?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Secondary Navigation Using External SWF Files

Dec 20, 2010

Everything was going fine on a website project I've been working on, until yesterday. I'll try to explain the whole scenario first, and I'll put the code in here too so anyone can try to figure out what is wrong. Here's the breakdown of the site:

1) There is a MAIN SWF file that plays an intro and then stops on the last frame with the "Main" Navigation buttons.

2) Inside the Root folder where the MAIN SWF resides, there is another folder called "swfs" which contains six main external navigation pages, as well as another folder called "galleries" which contains additional external swf files for six gallery pages.

3) On one of the layers of the MAIN SWF, there is a movie clip called "mySWFLoadingClip" that the "Main" Navigation buttons load and unload the main swf pages onto. These all work perfectly. The problem start on the next step. This is the code I used for the navigation buttons on the MAIN SWF timeline:

var Xpos:Number = 0.0;
var Ypos:Number = 0.0;
var swf:MovieClip;
var loader:Loader = new Loader();
var defaultSWF:URLRequest = new URLRequest("swfs/home_page_swf.swf");
[Code] .....

4) One of the external navigation SWF pages is called "portfolio_page_swf" and gets loaded into the "mySWFLoadingClip" moveclip on the MAIN SWF. This is where the problem begins. The "portfolio_page_swf" has six buttons that call out to an additional external swf from the galleries folder. Now when I open the "portfolio_page_swf" file to test out if the buttons work, they work perfect. When I click the buttons, the external swf gallery files show up like they should. But the problem is that when I open the "MAIN SWF" file to test out the site, I can click the Main Navigation buttons and they work. I click on the Portfolio button on the Main SWF time line, and it places the "portfolio_page_swf" onto the stage like it should, but when I click the buttons that are within the "portfolio_page_swf" the galleries don't show up. The buttons from the "portfolio_page_swf" page only work if I open the "portfolio_page_swf" file directly.

Here is the code that is used in the "portfolio_page_swf":
var Xpos:Number= 0.0;
var Ypos:Number = 0.0;
var swf:MovieClip;
var loader:Loader = new Loader();
var defaultSWF:URLRequest = new URLRequest("galleries/gallery_print_swf.swf");
[Code] .....

How to load an External SWF onto the main time line and then load an additional external swf from within the first external swf.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Go To 2nd Scene After Playing Intro

Sep 4, 2009

I have two scenes on my movie. My first scene is just an introduction animation. At the end of that scene I just want it to go to the next scene. I thought it would do this automatically but I get this error:
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
at InteractiveCDAnimation_fla::MainTimeline/__setProp___id0__Scene2_content_0() at InteractiveCDAnimation_fla::MainTimeline/frame1()

I tried putting a this.gotoAndPlay(1, "Scene2") <- My scene is name Scene2. It does not work. I even tried creating a function and seeing if it would listen to an enterframe event listener. I do not want a button to click at the end, I just want it to automatically go to the next frame. Why I am getting this error above, and why I cannot get this thing to go to the next scene.

Get Sound / Music To Keep Playing Through A Scene Transition?

Feb 1, 2010

I'm trying to build a sort of flash based portfolio that will allow the user to control what they view. I want some background music to play under all of this, but when the user goes to a particular scene or frame of animation the music will stop or skip as they move.

Is there a way to get the music to just play in the background in an endless loop regardless of which scene or frame they jump to or another way to get a similar effect? I'd really like it to be interactive rather than just a preset slide show.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Finish Playing Movieclip Before Going To Particular Scene?

Jun 27, 2010

Basically I'm doing a flash website for my 3D animations. Once my intro animation ends my menu comes up which is within a main movieclip called menustage_mc and within that movieclip is a bunch of movieclips acting as buttons to navigate through the site and their animation.When you press on a button it will move to a particular scene. I'm using multiple scenes so i don't clutter the main timeline for myself. I've read a couple of posts saying that i shouldn't use multiple scenes but there is no explanation as to why. I'm assuming i should add and remove movieclips but i'm very new to actionscript and in particular as3 but that's a different question somewhere down the line.

My problem is that when i click on a button for example sketches, i want to finish playing the menustage_mc animation and then go to the sketches scene. However i'm trying different variations and am not getting any success. There are instances where the animation plays but then doesn't go to the next scene. Another instance is that it goes straight to the selected scene but doesn't finish playing the menustage_mc.So all I really want to do is finish playing the menustage_mc animation before it goes to the correct scene? I have seen things where I can go the menustage_mc and put nextScene(); on the final frame but it's not what i am really aiming to do.

ActionScript 2.0 :: External SWF Files - Movie Does N0t Go To The Next Scene?

Apr 5, 2006

I have each page broken out into scenes. Intro, Step1-19, and outro. Here is what i have in scene 2. Keep in mind the swf file i am calling was generated with Macromedia Captivate and i dont have a way of editing through flash that I am aware of. I need some time of code that tells scene 2 to go to scene 3 when the external swf file is done playing at 737 frames. Ok here is what i have: all on one frame

1. stop action

2. a label for navigation purposes

3. preloader action:

var myMCL:MovieClipLoader = new MovieClipLoader();
var myListener:Object = new Object();
myMCL.addListener(myListener);[code]....

Problem 1. I am using actionscript to call the external swf file. I have a preloader that is working somewhat. It preloads the movie with a bar and when it reaches around 60%-70% it starts playing the movie too soon and the bar doesnt go away till it is full. So you see the movie playing with the bar still loading for a bried time.

Problem 2 (bigger problem that 1). After the movie plays it stops and doesnt go to the next scene because I had to put a stop action on the first frame for the preloader to work. So it plays the external file in the container but doesnt move on to the next frame or scene.

I had a friend try this approach and got an error: Make a MC that has an action script that says..

onClipEvent(enterFrame)
{
if (_root.step2_container._currentframe >= 737)[code]....

That sounds like logical but isnt working. The error I am getting is: **Error** Symbol=loader_helper, layer=Layer 1, frame=1:Line 1: Clip events are permitted only for movie clip instances

onClipEvent(enterFrame)

ActionScript 3 :: DispatchEvent Does Not Work In Secondary Class

Jan 14, 2011

I have a SWF called Application.swf that loads another SWF called jeu.swf. My main class (don't know how to call it haha), is called Main.as. Another class is called actionObjets.as. When I call:
dispatchEvent(new MicroJeuEvent(MicroJeuEvent.JEU_TERMINE, 8, ""));
It works perfectly from Main.as, it works perfectly.

But when I call it from actionObjets, it doesn't work. No error either. I tried putting this line in a static function, doesn't work either. Why can I dispatch an Event from my main class and not from another one? I'm not a programmer and I just don't get a few of the basic principles of as3. Is there a way of doing differently?
