I'm trying to launch some files like a old director file from a button (res1) in my .swf file (I want it to open in a seperate window)

i need to be able to launch pdf files from a .exe off a cd. simple enough. the problem starts here.... when i wiew the movie using .swf or .exe some images shift a tiny bit and then shif back during some of the animations. (god knows why but it dosent look great) when viewing the movie over a browser however there is no such problem. i would like to launch a browser window with no toolbars and such fit to the flash movie that can launch pdf's. again, i can launch the .exe from the cd and furthermore launch the pdf's but some images shift for some reason.. is there anyway possible to get around the security features in flash that wont allow you to launch a local file from a .swf file?

When I publish for Windows and Mac projector..the windows version works great. But when I test it on the Mac......the call to action doesn't work.

View 3 RepliesI'm having difficulty debugging an ActionScript 3.0 project.When set to ActionScript 2.0, I'm able to debug just fine, but I'd like to use some 3.0 functionality. However, when choosing Debug > Debug Movie, the debugger launches (or at least the empty AS 3.0 debugger panels are displayed), but I receive the message "Debugger launch failed. Debug session will terminate.". Click OK and the debugger closes.

View 1 Repliesi work at this place that does tons of partner sites for our main company, that all the same site, just with different color schemes and logos. i'm in the middle of redoing a lot of the elements and making them flash based. i realized if i can have a way of maybe dynamically loading the colors on the page from an exteral php or xml document, that i would save myself and other much work in the future. does anyone know if a way to do this? to load the color of something from an external document? i'm taking about fill colors here. i think i've seen it done with componients, but is there a strictly actionscript method?

View 1 RepliesI'm currently on a Windows 7 64bits system and I've got this unsolved problem of "Error initializing Java Runtime Environment. You may need to reinstall Flash" pop-up at Flash CS5 launch. This error (apparently relied to AS3 compiling machine) also appears during SWF compilation (so the compilation is bugged and the SWF is unusable) I've googled it and tried every piece of answer but none of them worked :
- Re-install Flash or Java (32 & 64 bits)
- Delete CLASSPATH in environment variables
- Reduce (or raise ?!) -Xmx128M environment variable
- Launch application with XP SP3 compatibility
Is anyone here had the same problem and succeed to pass through in any kind of way
So I read through Kirupa's XML/Flash thumbnail gallery tutorial and have since modified some of its actionscripting to display my online design portfolio. How do I make it so that 'LAUNCH PROJECT' is a link? Here is the modified Actionscripting (I have one of each for the 3 sections):

As you can see at the bottom of the actionscript, I added a gotoURL action, hoping that simply by making <launch> read <launch action="gotoURL" variables="http:url...> that it would become a link. I, however, have had no such luck. Perhaps I have to add something more. How do I make it so that <launch></launch> has the ability to link to an URL?
I installed Flash CS4 Professional trial version for school use. It wouldn't install successfully. I deleted the font files the troubleshooting guide said to, tried again, but gave up. (I'm afraid to run regedit and mess up everything else I have loaded.) (I previously had the Fireworks CS4 trial version loaded, then uninstalled it.) My problem is this- I have it running, but it saves files and then they can't be opened, even if I use the save function often- it's worse when I create the file, test the movie and then save.If I try to open it again, it says "cannot open file." Once it opened a copy I had saved, and it appeared blank, even though it was 544 kb file size. I only need it for a few more days, one more assignment and I'm afraid my previous files are corrupt. I have Windows Vista Home Edition.

These scenes would be individual SWF movies that I could import into my final Flash file in consequential order and when finished I would have a completed Flash Movie. I need to simply create "swf" files from a number of videos I have finished in Premiere Pro 5.5.
These videos are 800 x 600 videos that display at "point-of-sale". The spec is swf and not flv.

The error message is: PreloadSwf paths must be local trusted: [bogus_path]
It's referencing a file that doesn't exist in a directory that doesn't exist. I've seen some posts on the web about how to configure PreloadSwf via mm.cfg, but my mm.cfg doesn't reference any path (just sets log levels).
How do I tell Flash Player to skip this preloadswf so I can launch my app?
