Professional :: Error Initializing Java Runtime Environment At Launch
Jan 9, 2011
I'm currently on a Windows 7 64bits system and I've got this unsolved problem of "Error initializing Java Runtime Environment. You may need to reinstall Flash" pop-up at Flash CS5 launch. This error (apparently relied to AS3 compiling machine) also appears during SWF compilation (so the compilation is bugged and the SWF is unusable) I've googled it and tried every piece of answer but none of them worked :
- Re-install Flash or Java (32 & 64 bits)
- Delete CLASSPATH in environment variables
- Reduce (or raise ?!) -Xmx128M environment variable
- Launch application with XP SP3 compatibility
Is anyone here had the same problem and succeed to pass through in any kind of way

When I apply a 3D tween I get the following error when I test the movie: Error initializing Java Runtime Environment. You may need to re-install Flash If I remove the tween, no error on testing. Is this a bug? I am using CS4 on a brand new Dell M6300 mobile workstation.

I'm trying to run ASDoc on just one of my classes, but I keep getting the following:
ActionScript Code:
Error: Cannot find JRE.
Error: Cannot find Java 2 Runtime Environment.
I've read up on the issue and I tried setting up the JAVA_HOME environment variable to point to ..AdobeFlex Builder 3jre folder but it's not working at all. Is there a compatibility issue or is something else going wrong?
/edit: Nevermind, it just started working. I guess I had to exit out of command prompt before it took effect

Are there any differences implementing Flex application security in a clustered Java environment (such as Oracle Application Server/OC4J or a JBoss cluster) vs a single application server environment? (And/or does it depend on the specific environment software?)
What considerations are there in a situation where you need to authenticate with LDAP (AD) and store user access information in a database (ex. USER table containing username + permissions/roles info)? Any differences between Blaze DS and Granite DS?

I'm developing a webapp with Java backend and Flash (pure ActionScript) frontend using BlazeDS. I'm using the RemoteObject stuff to send objects, using custom serialization, where I need to implement Externalizable (Java) and IExternalizable (AS) interfaces. This works fine so far.
But now I need to send objects from Java to Flash, whose classes are generated with JAXB/XJC. Of course these generated Java classes don't implement the Externalizable interface, so it seems that I can't use my approach here. One possibility seems to be writing a XJC plugin which makes the classes implement Externalizable. But this looks like a tough job...

I was wondering if it was possible to launch a Java server when an SWF is started up. What I want is for a player to be able to "Host" a game from their browser, which will launch a Java server that will run on their computer and allow users to join, similar to what would be done with an out of browser game if a player chose to host a game themselves.I already have the Java server written and interfacing with AS3, it's the automation of the launch process that's got me stumped.Is this possible? If not, how is something similar to this usually done? My main hope is that I wont have to create dedicated servers that users will connect to. Would I have to launch the Java application through the web page?

When I try to build a "Hello World" iOS app for the iPhone using Flash Pro CS5.5 I get the following error:
Error creating files. Error occurred during initialization of VM Could not reserve enough space for object heap Could not create the Java virtual machine.
Has any one else encountered an error like this and successfully fixed it? I've been trying to solve this for a long time, have reinstalled Flash CS5.5 and Java, but so far I'm still getting the same error. I've also tested building the app on another person's machine and there everything works fine. My OS is Windows 7.

I just finished up my site, and this is the only thing holding me back from publishing it. Whenever I "Test" my site, I get this error: " Your content will not stream. Runtime Shared Library (RSL) preloading will require all of your content to download before the first frame will play.
To prevent this you can change the Runtime Shared Library Library Settings, in the Advanced ActionScript 3.0 Settings dialog which can be raised from the Publish Settings dialog.The Runtime Shared Libraries being preloaded are:
textlayout_1.0.0.595.swz for TLF Text"
Does anyone know how to correct this error? If you do, could you please walk me through it step-by-step. I am still very new to "Flash Professional (CS5)" & "ActionScript (3.0)"

i don't know how to say that in technical terms. and i think this is the reason to why i cant get good answer from Google.i have xampp on my local winxp machine. i use it for developing websites locally then upload these files to my clients shared hosting accounts.
the problem that in 2 years i have always found differences between how xampp works and how the web server work.some code work locally but dont remotely and the opposite. also flash behave differently on xampp than the remote web server.is there is a way i can get the server configuration and use it with xampp like get the server php.ini and use it with xampp?

I have built a simple flex application (using BlazeDS) which displays "Person" details by invoking a java service using flex remoting. So, my Person class looks something like this:
class Person {
public int age;
public String name;
}
As a java developer, here is my understanding: When I run the front flex app in my webapp, an RPC call is executed and BlazeDS does the hard work of invoking the right method, obtaining the result as an object, converting the object to AMF format (serialization). And, then the web/app server sends back this response to the requesting app over http. The flex app now does the task of deserializing the object received in AMF format and somehow make use of it.
Here is my question: I would like to modify the response before it reaches the Flex application by modifying the attributes of the person object. I have a Filter in place to do this. However, I am not sure as to how I would deserialize the AMF stream, modfiy the object, serialize the object back into the stream / reconstruct the stream somehow.
Is there a way to doing this? Where should I start? If the question was too confusing, here is a shorter version: How do I modify the response stream of content type AMF-X, before it reaches a flex app using a java filter?

I'm getting a PreloadSwf when launching my flash application in my browser.
The error message is: PreloadSwf paths must be local trusted: [bogus_path]
It's referencing a file that doesn't exist in a directory that doesn't exist. I've seen some posts on the web about how to configure PreloadSwf via mm.cfg, but my mm.cfg doesn't reference any path (just sets log levels).
How do I tell Flash Player to skip this preloadswf so I can launch my app?

I've been trying to use ffmpeg with an air app that I made in flash cs5.5. I have it so that ffmpeg.exe needs to be located in the directory where the air app is installed (File.applicationDirectory.nativePath). For some reason this only works when I run the program through the flash dev environment. But when I actually deploy the app, I get error #3219:The NativeProcess could not be started. ffmpeg.exe is located in the same folder.
I actually don't know the full message that it gives...not sure what the property of the error that will give me that message when I catch it. All I know is that it's error 3219. Would this be a profile issue? If i didn't have the extended desktop desktop profile, I don't think I would be able to get this error, I'd get a profiling error wouldn't I? I've disabled user access control as well...I'm using windows 7.

We are using GraniteDS autogenerated AS code to map Java remote objects to AS.
We have objects that contain List sites in Java so when they are converted to AS it looks like:
JAVA: private List<MyObject> territories;
Actionscript: private var _territories:ListCollectionView;
The trouble is we are using MXML databinding to bind the contents of that list generically, the trouble is we never reference the type of object contained in the list explicitly so it's never compiled into our SWF is there any way to ensure that objects in a list for a RemoteClass is compiled in?

Looking for any help you might be able to give me with this one. Recently upgraded from Flash CS3 to Flash CS5 Pro. When I publish a movie produced exclusively with CS5, the resulting SWF will work everywhere but inside my company's highly restricted/locked down network. When I attempt to load the SWF in a browser from within the network, all I get is what appears to be the standard Flash preloader - the 5 little dots that crawl across the middle of the screen.
I've confirmed there's no IE version error, the machines have the newest version of Flash Player; the only difference is the network. What could be preventing the SWF from reaching the browser? Is there any esoteric publishing setting I can use in CS5 pro that I should try?

I'm loading an external XML file when in the Flash development environment. ActionScript 3.0 (CS3) accesses the XML file using URLLoader. Everything is fine until I have to make changes to the XML file. When testing the Flash application while in the development environment, it does not see the changes I made to the XML file, because the URLLoader is somehow caching the results. Thus, the XML file looks exactly the same. This is very frustrating. Is there any way I can blow out this cache so that URLLoader is forced to load the XML file? Currently, I either have to re-start the Flash environment or change the name of the XML file.

I'm having difficulty debugging an ActionScript 3.0 project.When set to ActionScript 2.0, I'm able to debug just fine, but I'd like to use some 3.0 functionality. However, when choosing Debug > Debug Movie, the debugger launches (or at least the empty AS 3.0 debugger panels are displayed), but I receive the message "Debugger launch failed. Debug session will terminate.". Click OK and the debugger closes.
