Apr 29, 2010

When i change to a different frame from my  main movie ( Main Timeline) the sound from my old movieclips continue to play. It seems that sounds are still in memory and clips are not garbage collected.I've tried unloadAndStop from CS4 with flash player 10 but still the same problem? my movie clips will continue to play sounds in different frame from maintimeline

Professional :: Play FLV And Stop All Other Webpage Sounds

Sep 5, 2010

I have a website that has two flash items on it. I have a swf that calls mp3s that plays on the page load, and I have a FLV that plays on page load. What I would like to happen is: on page load the FLV plays when the FLV Finishes the swf starts to play the mp3s. What already happens is that the pages load in _blank pages so they are in new windows. This is good because while you navigate the site, the music from the homepage is still cycling through the swf's mp3 playlist. The problem comes in when you navigate back to the homepage from a new window, and the homepage is still open within the first window. That means that the video plays over, while the music is playing, and the music doubles up. Now the video playing isn't bad, it's that music is doubling up. Can't it sense itself playing a 2nd instance of itself on another webpage and stop it?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Control Multiple Sounds In Multiple Timelines

Here's the setup:

-I have a music score that will be streamed in via actionscript

-I also have multiple short sounds (SFX) in multiple nested MCs

-these SFX sounds are customized using the ide edit interface, so it would be a pain to use actionscript to play each sound

What I need: To have 1 mute button for the music, and 1 mute button for the SFX, both on the root timeline.[code]...

ActionScript 2.0 :: CS3 Getting Sounds To Start Again After Using Stop All Sounds

Nov 29, 2009

I have a film with 4 scenes in it: Here's a link to the film and as you can see the film does not play the music the second time because of the StopAllSounds function which is probably the wrong code to use. The first scene is just a button with 1 frame, a stop action and a music clip. The second scene is the film. The third scene is the credits fourth scene is a Play again button. I have a Stop all Sounds action on the fourth scene because if I do not use it and I press the Play Again button, the music from the first song keeps playing but also the music from the film starts up again so it starts to play twice. What I want to know is, how do I get the music to stop at the end of the film but start up again once I hit Play Again?

I am using Flash CS3 if that helps and using Actionscript2.

ActionScript 3.0 :: SoundChannels Will Not Stop Sounds When Stop() Is Called

Sep 10, 2011

On a recent project I am working on, I created an event-based sound engine. Different components within Flex will be registered, and then the controller will listen to events and handle the information correctly. So, it just takes a custom SoundEvent or ChannelEvent to alter one of the channels, or play a sound.

I can not quite figure out what is wrong with my code, and I am finding myself snow-blind to the issue at hand. At first, I was going to rewrite it but I figured it would be better to learn from my mistake. Also, I realize that this is not correct for streaming sounds, but I am working off a local sound library until I get it up and running smoothly.

Here is the code for the SoundEvent:

package code.events
{
import flash.events.Event;
public class SoundEvent extends Event

Professional :: Possible To Adjust Length Of Multiple Timelines At Once?

Sep 1, 2010

I am using Flash CS4. Is there any way to adjust the length of multiple timelines at once? I am doing an animation of leaves falling from a tree. The leaves alone have 17 separate timelines on separate layers plus each has it's own guide layer.If I had the ability to to select all of the timelines together and adjust all of their respective start and end times at the same same time, relative to each other as well as separately, life would be so much easier!Of course I can do it timeline by timeline, no problem, but I can't seem to adjust the length of more than one timeline at a time. (no pun intended)Even when I select more than one timeline, the double arrow only adjusts the length of one timeline. Even each guide layer's length has to be adjusted separately. I understand the benefit of this, but, testing timing and making adjustments would be so much simpler and go so much faster if I could select and drag multiple timeline lengths at the same time.

Professional :: Scaling Timelines Keys And Inbetweens?

Nov 4, 2010

Say you have a keyframe on 1 and a keyframe 25 and a keyframe on 50. Can I grab 50's key and scale down? So could I grab 50s key or all 50 frames and scale down to say 25, and then the key would be in the middle still (guessing 12 or 13 for the middle key). Until then I'll manually drag keyframes using Ctrl. It just would be nice to easily scale down keyframes/frames even if it's not 100% precise.

Professional :: CS5 Bug: Symbol Rotation Points Shifting With Long Timelines

May 16, 2010

I have come across a large, and very annoying bug in CS5. When animating with the same symbols over a long and complicated timeline, the rotation points of symbols earlier in the timeline begin to shift around very slightly. The more you work on the flash, the more they shift, so things that you did right at the start will begin to wobble around all over the place once your timeline gets very big. This is because, as we all know, when you tamper with a tweened symbol's rotation point, the symbol moves out of place while tweening.

This has completely ruined a large project I was working on that I began in CS4.

I am using a Mac Pro running 10.6.3

Professional :: After Saving, Closeing, And Reopening .fla Files, Assets Are Missing From Timelines?

Jun 19, 2011

Well ok so, I've been looking, and I see similar things, but not really going anywhere. And I also can't make it happen at will, it just happens.But often enough to make it really frustratrating and scary to close a file.It's easy to explain what happens when it happens.I open a file, work on it for a while, during which time I've imported some images or wav files and placed them on the main timeline or movie clip timelines.I can test and save the file often while I'm working and everything seems fine.  Eventually I close the file.When I reopen the file, the imported images are all missing from the timelines. It's very odd.All of the edits are still complete.The keyframes where the assets were placed are still where they belong, and the assets are all in the library.So I have to go through to each location and put the image or wav file back in its keyframe where it belongs.So far, it seems like after I go through this exercise once, it doesn't happen again.Here are the only details I can really offer.

Don't know about new files.The files I'm working on originated on a Mac, and they may have gone back and forth between CS4 anc CS5 versions, and finally are going to CS5.5 on a pc.I have seen this problem now in both CS4 and CS5 on both the Mac and the pc.It only seems to affect newly imported assets.Doesn't seem to matter how they're imported.Sometimes I use the menus, sometimes I drag and drop them into the library, sometimes I copy them from other Flash files and paste them into the current one.So far, I'm not sure that his problem has been seen on my own equipment.Just at my contractor location.Because of the things I'm seeing around, I'm beginning to suspect that this could have something to do with these RAID systems these guys usually set up, which I know virtually nothing about. RAID5 on these new machines.But I'm wondering if some caching of something is going on somewhere, and somehow not being saved somewhere else

I'll probably start trying some things like importing assets, saving,closing and re-opening before I do anything, or some such exercises, in an attempt to make it stop happening.Like I said though, it's virtually impossible for me to reproduce.It really seems to be one of those things that just likes to happen out of the blue.Maybe 15 to 20 percent of the time.Probably whenever it'll do the most damage.

IDE :: Sounds Loop In Nested Movieclips?

Dec 9, 2010

We have found that if you skip over frames that include nested movieclips with embedded timeline sounds, those sounds loop endlessly.For example, if you gotoAndStop(20) from frame 2, but frames 5-10 have a CLIP A that embeds CLIP B, which has a timeline sound, you hear that sound over and over again (even though the playback head never touched the frames with that clip).Does anyone have a convenient workaround (other than the obvious -- playing sounds dynamically, etc). For animation-sync reasons we need to use timeline sounds in this particular case.

IDE :: Any Limit For MovieClips / Sounds In Library?

Feb 2, 2012

It seems like we have hit a limit in how many assets (movieclips/sounds etc) that we can have in our library. We can export at the moment, but if we put in another cutscene or sound flash wont export. It shows the progress bar but when its done the .swf dosent show up and cannot be found in the project folder.
Some file info:
Swf - 9mb
Fla - 128mb

Which solves the problem (mutes all sounds) but now there is an issue, I want to stop all sounds but one.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Controlling Objects (Sounds) Across MovieClips

Sep 9, 2003

I have a few movie clips running swf's and I need a play/stop button in one clip to control the audio in another clip. The buttons are in the _root clip and the audio is contained in an swf I load into an empty 'content' movie. I have labelled the frame containing the audio but can't seem to use the object hierarchy to access it. On a somewhat similar note, is there a way to have the root movie display the bytes loaded/bytes total of a swf loading over top of the root movie, i.e. in a content empty movieclip?

Is there a way to set a global variable for muting the sound that will work across the entire website?

Flash :: Stop All Sounds Permanently In AS3?

Mar 30, 2010

I have a main swf which has sound on/off buttons. It has many SWF's which are loaded into different placeholders at different time. All of them have different sounds in them. In addition to that there is a music loop going on in the background.Now, this perticular swf lets call it Father will be placed in some swf later on. What I'm trying to do right now is when the sound off button is pressed turn off all the sounds permanently so the child swf's and their sounds stop too.I have found a way in AS2 :

global = new Sound( ) //no movie clip target path.

and add the following code to your off button.

on(release){
global.setVolume(0); //mutes all sound
}[code]....

which ofcourse does not work for AS3. So how can I stop all sounds permanently in AS3? Secondly what if I have one sound (my background loop) which I want to keep going on.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Stop All Sounds Except Background Music?

Feb 20, 2011

I have created a simple soundboard, with multiple buttons that play sounds upon release. These sounds are embedded within the 'hit' frames of the buttons. Only one can be played at once, so this has been applied to each button:

on (press){stopAllSounds ();}

This all works as planned so far. However, I would like to have a background music feature that would be exempt from the "stopAllSounds" command and thus able to keep playing regardless of what buttons were pressed (or until a designated stop button was pressed).

ActionScript 3.0 :: Stop All Sounds Except Background Music?

Jun 17, 2011

I am working on a website that has 11 sounds in one frame. All of the sounds are external, meaning I have to call each one of them every time I want them to play, which happens when I click on specific MCs in my stage. Each MC I click all sounds stop and the new one starts playing. So far, so good.

But therein lies the problem: I want this to happen but keep background music playing. I have no idea where to start from.
