Professional :: Possible To Adjust Length Of Multiple Timelines At Once?
Sep 1, 2010
I am using Flash CS4. Is there any way to adjust the length of multiple timelines at once? I am doing an animation of leaves falling from a tree. The leaves alone have 17 separate timelines on separate layers plus each has it's own guide layer. If I had the ability to to select all of the timelines together and adjust all of their respective start and end times at the same same time, relative to each other as well as separately, life would be so much easier!Of course I can do it timeline by timeline, no problem, but I can't seem to adjust the length of more than one timeline at a time. (no pun intended)Even when I select more than one timeline, the double arrow only adjusts the length of one timeline. Even each guide layer's length has to be adjusted separately. I understand the benefit of this, but, testing timing and making adjustments would be so much simpler and go so much faster if I could select and drag multiple timeline lengths at the same time.
Say you have a keyframe on 1 and a keyframe 25 and a keyframe on 50. Can I grab 50's key and scale down? So could I grab 50s key or all 50 frames and scale down to say 25, and then the key would be in the middle still (guessing 12 or 13 for the middle key). Until then I'll manually drag keyframes using Ctrl. It just would be nice to easily scale down keyframes/frames even if it's not 100% precise.
I searched everywhere but no answer.i have a main Movie containing many movieclips with sound atttached in their timeline. When i change to a different frame from my main movie ( Main Timeline) the sound from my old movieclips continue to play. It seems that sounds are still in memory and clips are not garbage collected.I've tried unloadAndStop from CS4 with flash player 10 but still the same problem? my movie clips will continue to play sounds in different frame from maintimeline
I have come across a large, and very annoying bug in CS5. When animating with the same symbols over a long and complicated timeline, the rotation points of symbols earlier in the timeline begin to shift around very slightly. The more you work on the flash, the more they shift, so things that you did right at the start will begin to wobble around all over the place once your timeline gets very big. This is because, as we all know, when you tamper with a tweened symbol's rotation point, the symbol moves out of place while tweening.
This has completely ruined a large project I was working on that I began in CS4.
I'm loading a bunch of images through XML like this:
[Code]...
Pretty simple. Loads each image into a imgHolder_mc named 0, 1, 2, etc. Each image is also set to alpha = 0 since I don't want them to show unless the slider is changed.
I'm having trouble when scrolling across keeping my eye focused on the layer I want... is there anyway to change the view so that they alternate between grey and white(or anything like that) or are each there own color..
Well ok so, I've been looking, and I see similar things, but not really going anywhere. And I also can't make it happen at will, it just happens. But often enough to make it really frustratrating and scary to close a file. It's easy to explain what happens when it happens.I open a file, work on it for a while, during which time I've imported some images or wav files and placed them on the main timeline or movie clip timelines.I can test and save the file often while I'm working and everything seems fine. Eventually I close the file. When I reopen the file, the imported images are all missing from the timelines. It's very odd.All of the edits are still complete. The keyframes where the assets were placed are still where they belong, and the assets are all in the library. So I have to go through to each location and put the image or wav file back in its keyframe where it belongs. So far, it seems like after I go through this exercise once, it doesn't happen again. Here are the only details I can really offer.
Don't know about new files. The files I'm working on originated on a Mac, and they may have gone back and forth between CS4 anc CS5 versions, and finally are going to CS5.5 on a pc.I have seen this problem now in both CS4 and CS5 on both the Mac and the pc.It only seems to affect newly imported assets.Doesn't seem to matter how they're imported.Sometimes I use the menus, sometimes I drag and drop them into the library, sometimes I copy them from other Flash files and paste them into the current one.So far, I'm not sure that his problem has been seen on my own equipment.Just at my contractor location.Because of the things I'm seeing around, I'm beginning to suspect that this could have something to do with these RAID systems these guys usually set up, which I know virtually nothing about. RAID5 on these new machines. But I'm wondering if some caching of something is going on somewhere, and somehow not being saved somewhere else
I'll probably start trying some things like importing assets, saving, closing and re-opening before I do anything, or some such exercises, in an attempt to make it stop happening.Like I said though, it's virtually impossible for me to reproduce. It really seems to be one of those things that just likes to happen out of the blue.Maybe 15 to 20 percent of the time.Probably whenever it'll do the most damage.
How does one adjust the seek behaviour of an FLV in playback? youtube videos work the way I expect them to: As you click and drag the seek bar it shows you the current frame. Any of the players I have experimented with don't do this. What they do is show you a still frame and update the video window only after you release the seek bar.
Is it possible to adjust the frame spacing for all layers? For example, I have my stuff (graphics, text, etc..) spaced at 24 frames. Is there a way to globally adjust everything to 48 frame spacing? or 12 frame spacing?
i was wondering how others have designed applications, such as photo galleries, that automatically adjust to the resolution of the screen on which it's being viewed, as opposed to adding or removing scroll bars to view just a standard, presized bg image, as in HTML.
I assume this is a certain line of ActionScript, but like I said
What im looking to do is dynamically create TextFields based on my array.length. So if I have 3 strings in my array then 3 TextFields with the array text needs to be created.
I've managed to actually create TextFields based on the array.length - however afterwards I dont know how to reference them individually, to lets say re-position x, y for array[1]. I've tried saving the Textfields in another array by .push method, but can't seem to reference them correctly.
//Create textfields based on data in Array - in this case 3 textfields var textArray:Array = new Array('First TextField','TextField Two','Anything, really'); //Array to .push "save" created textfields
Let's say I have array foo and a positive integer y, where foo.length > y.I want to remove elements from foo so that foo.length becomes y (or very close to it). Also, I need to preserve the first and last element of foo. The indices of the removed elements must be spaced apart as equally as possible. Foo can be sliced, or it can be used to create a new array.
Example: if foo = [a,b,c,d,e,f,g,1,2,3,4,5] and y = 6, then trimmedfoo could be [a,c,e,g,2,4,5] or maybe [a,c,e,2,4,5], but not [a,c,e,g,2,4] because the last element of foo is missing.
Is there any way to determine if a (anonymous) function has defined the ...(rest) parameter in ActionScript 3? I know there's the function.length property, but it only counts the explicitly defined arguments.
In CS5, I want to create a simple series of still images that display in the Timeline for about 5 seconds each. Is there an easy way to do either of the following:
1. Change the Timeline to display in seconds instead of frames?
2. Specify how long something should appear prior to the next symbol showing up in the Timeline?
if I take a square, turn into a Movie Clip, addjust the Perspective Angle, and the Vanishing Points. Then I rotate the square along the x axis so that the square is now a plane laying on the z axis. How do I get the length of the Movie Clip? I need to know when a plane starts and ends on the z axis. I also need to get the width.
Here is my problem. I have a file set to 1000 pixels in height and length. My image covers that size. I am trying to create a series of panels that are lined up next to each other and than motion tween it so it looks like the background is moving. I am creating each panel by copying and pasting it and placing them next to each other so it forms a single large line. However, the screen does not allow me to see everything and tends to cut off my panels and I don't know how to fix this. I have it set as "Show All" and it still does not work.
I was told to covert it to background strips dynamically. Can someone tell me how to do this step by step?
I was told to do this, Covert the files to movie clips and that add this:
I have learned from a video tutorial (Flash CS5 in the Family 23: Banner Ad Part 1)to use the F5 key to set the length of a time line of a particular image. When using the F5 key on the MAC keyboard, it will only allow for the audio to be worked with.I've tried Apple+F5, Option+F5, Ctrl+F5 etc. What am I missing?
Is there a way to tell a movie clip duration without opening it? I have several movie clips on scene and it would be great to be able to tell where the scene ends, without opening each movie clip, adding their length to the starting frame and comparing them, which one will last the longest in the end.
I just joined this Adobe Forums, and I am new to action script 3.0, I am working on a couple of lessons and I would like to be able to shorten the number of frames they take up on the timeline by setting the time the transition takes in seconds in my action script, and limiting each to a single frame so that my timeline can be organized and easy to work with.SO I set the seconds to 10 seconds, and kept each on a single key frame BUT THE PROBLEM is that the transition only plays as a single frame and cuts off and then moves to the next frame and so on
I am trying to build a flash that auto-adjust its size to the browser window size, while leaving the content of the flash itself top-centered in the screen.I have found this solution [URL].. on How to keep centered stuff in this exact case so i am pretty confident i will be able to adjust that script to do what i want.
Now my problem is that if i put my content inside the movie-clip (centerrectangle) with all the animation require, link and other stuff, the movieclip (center rectangle ) never have the exact same center, thus making the script go wild trying to always adjust the location to the variable size of the movie clip.
I have a flash movie with 3 buttons I am trying to link relativley to pages within my site, I have one working fine but can't get the others to link and when I try it makes the one that is working, work no more..
Below's the code I am using for the one that is working;
import flash.events.MouseEvent;var getIndex:URLRequest = new URLRequest("../index.html"); //---Enter Button---\
I have a button instance mc "mcBtn",inside this instance i have the actual Btn graphic symbol and AS layer.inside the AS layer i have defined onRollover, onRelease, onRollOut methods.if i rollOver/Out/Press Btn it works fine and Btn animates in some way.
I needed to access mcBtn from _parent timeline AS WELL, so i defined a method mcBtn.onPress [one which is not defined inside mcBtn yet], and inside onPress told mcBtn to animate some other content.... What happened is, that onPress works fine and after pressing Btn, requested content is animated, BUT all other methods defined inside mcBtn stopped working! [no animation when rollOvered, rollOut-ed, onRelease-d]
