Professional :: Finding The Length Of A Plane Along The Z Axis?

May 10, 2010

if I take a square, turn into a Movie Clip, addjust the Perspective Angle, and the Vanishing Points.  Then I rotate the square along the x axis so that the square is now a plane laying on the z axis.  How do I get the length of the Movie Clip?  I need to know when a plane starts and ends on the z axis.  I also need to get the width.

Finding The Exact Length Of An XML Node?

Sep 12, 2011

I have decided to give XML a go, so I thought I would start with something small : ) and give creating a dynamic menu a try.

I load my menu headings using textField and I can not get my code to find out the actual length of each menu heading. It all produces 100. I wanted to get each individual lengths so I can divide it by 2 and positon that to the center of my menu buttons.

I am also try to turn my menu buttons into buttons, so I can add my eventlisteners, but it doesnt seem to work. The menu text seems to get in the way, even though I made them non selectable.

This is my XML code

Code:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<menu_list>
<menu title="1">Home</menu>
<menu title="2">About Us</menu>

ActionScript 3.0 :: Tweens Objects Return To Their Original Position - Start Jumping Between Y Axis 200 And Y Axis 83?

Aug 7, 2009

I've put together this simple code for an SWF with three roll over images (called: Training, Resources and Contact).When I roll over Training I would like the symbol Training_txt to tween its alpha to 1 (from 0) and tween its y axis to 220 (from 83).When I roll out of Training I would like to run the two tweens in reverse.

This works fine for each of the three roll over images, so long as each tween is allowed to fully execute before a new tween is started. The problem arises if i quickly move the mouse curser between the three roll over images before the previous tweens have finished executing.In this instance, the tweened objects start to behave erratically. They usually return to their original position as per the roll_out tween but then start jumping between y axis 200 and y axis 83 (without tweening - they just appear).

Code below -

stop();
import fl.transitions.Tween;
import fl.transitions.easing.*;[code]..........

Actionscript 3 :: Remove Equally Spaced Elements From An Array With Length Of 'n' To Match A Given Length 'y'?

Mar 9, 2011

Let's say I have array foo and a positive integer y, where foo.length > y.I want to remove elements from foo so that foo.length becomes y (or very close to it).Also, I need to preserve the first and last element of foo. The indices of the removed elements must be spaced apart as equally as possible. Foo can be sliced, or it can be used to create a new array.

Example: if foo = [a,b,c,d,e,f,g,1,2,3,4,5] and y = 6, then trimmedfoo could be [a,c,e,g,2,4,5] or maybe [a,c,e,2,4,5], but not [a,c,e,g,2,4] because the last element of foo is missing.

Professional :: Simple Animation Using X And Y Axis

Aug 22, 2010

My problem relates to an animation that uses the x and y axis.
for(loop =0; loop < 5; loop++){
boxName = "box" + loop;
attachMovie("box", boxName, 10 * loop);
var randomPlace:Number= random(500) + 550;
var NumX:Number = randomPlace;
[Code] .....

What the code above does is displaying small boxes that are moving from the right to the screen to the left, and then they come back again (like a loop I suppose) and each time a 'box' re-appear, it starts off at a random place at the very top of the screen. I want to make it that it drops just from the top to the screen to the bottom. ( Like snow falling from the sky). But I can't get my ahead around the x / y axis. Also, the size of my frame is 550x400.

Professional :: Rotate A Object Around Center Axis?

Oct 4, 2010

I'm using CS3 with ActionScript 3.0.  What I want is simple, and I've done some searching but nothing that can get me the right results.  I'm going to post a link that does exactly what I want:This rotates the circular object around a center point in a way that you can distort the object yet is still remains turning in a circular motion  A simple motion tween rotating the image will only work if the object is perfectly round, so distorting the object to make it more straight or curved won't work with a simple tween.  I want to do exactly what is happening here (with my own object), is there some AS3 behind the scenes here making this turn on a center point??

Professional :: Possible To Adjust Length Of Multiple Timelines At Once?

Sep 1, 2010

I am using Flash CS4. Is there any way to adjust the length of multiple timelines at once? I am doing an animation of leaves falling from a tree. The leaves alone have 17 separate timelines on separate layers plus each has it's own guide layer.If I had the ability to to select all of the timelines together and adjust all of their respective start and end times at the same same time, relative to each other as well as separately, life would be so much easier!Of course I can do it timeline by timeline, no problem, but I can't seem to adjust the length of more than one timeline at a time. (no pun intended)Even when I select more than one timeline, the double arrow only adjusts the length of one timeline. Even each guide layer's length has to be adjusted separately. I understand the benefit of this, but, testing timing and making adjustments would be so much simpler and go so much faster if I could select and drag multiple timeline lengths at the same time.

Professional :: Set To 1000 Pixels In Height And Length?

Jan 8, 2012

Here is my problem. I have a file set to 1000 pixels in height and length. My image covers that size. I am trying to create a series of panels that are lined up next to each other and than motion tween it so it looks like the background is moving. I am creating each panel by copying and pasting it and placing them next to each other so it forms a single large line. However, the screen does not allow me to see everything and tends to cut off my panels and I don't know how to fix this. I have it set as "Show All" and it still does not work.

I was told to covert it to background strips dynamically. Can someone tell me how to do this step by step?

I was told to do this, Covert the files to movie clips and that add this:

Professional :: Finding A Symbol Within A Project?

I am in the process of updating all of my symbols in a project I am working on, and found that some of the objects are set to temporary paths, I guess I had just imported from the clipboard, as opposed to importing an actual saved file.

Anyway, there is one particular graphic object that, according to my library, is in use in 1 place in my project, but I can't for the life of me find where that is.  Is there any way to locate instances of objects in the library?  Or am I going to have to go through my entire project, piece by piece?

Professional :: 3D Rotation For Symbol About Y Axis Using Pivot Point

Nov 13, 2011

I am trying to rotate a symbol about the y-axis, 45 degrees one direction, then back to center, then 45 degrees the other direction. Seems like a relatively simple task, except here is what happens.

Here is the object with no rotation:
Here is the object rotated exactly 45 degrees:
And here is the object rotated exactly -45 degrees:

I need the object to rotate the same as it did the first time but in reverse, otherwise "45" and "-45" are generally worthless numbers to refer to. Is it something to do with the pivot point? I made sure the registration point was in the center when I created the symbol. It doesn't seem to be pivoting the object around the center though. How do I rotate about the y-axis using a pivot point that is actually in the center and gives the same (but opposite) effect when rotating it one way versus the other?
