Professional :: Finding A Symbol Within A Project?
May 24, 2010I am in the process of updating all of my symbols in a project I am working on, and found that some of the objects are set to temporary paths, I guess I had just imported from the clipboard, as opposed to importing an actual saved file.
Anyway, there is one particular graphic object that, according to my library, is in use in 1 place in my project, but I can't for the life of me find where that is. Is there any way to locate instances of objects in the library? Or am I going to have to go through my entire project, piece by piece?
Professional :: Finding An Object's 'path'
Jun 30, 2010I'm trying to write a plug-in for Flash CS5 that will display the "instances path" for a selected object. I'm trying to work with JSFL.I manged to get all selected objects using fl.getDocumentDOM().selection. I iterate over the array I get and look at the objects. I am able to get each of the objects' name. What I need to do is construct the "path" to that object (e.g., scene.scene.instance4.myText). Can anyone think of a way to do that? Is there a way to get the object that contains a certain object?

I am also creating 2-4 animation shorts to play as an introduction to the website that I created with Toom Boom Studio 5. I would like to have one of them randomly play at the beginning of the website so that every time someone logs on to our website, a different one plays. My question is that someone said that if I go to Adobe that I could get a snippet of code to make these 2-4 animation shorts play randomly.

May 5, 2010Is there a site for submitting defects for CS5?Code hinting/completion for optional params in custom classes does not function, and seeing as it does every where else, such as the built in classes, I imagine it's a defect. For me this feature is huge, can't wait to see it working.

Then I rotate the square along the x axis so that the square is now a plane laying on the z axis. How do I get the length of the Movie Clip? I need to know when a plane starts and ends on the z axis. I also need to get the width.

May 27, 2010I am trying to use the new unCaughtErrorEvent, as explained here: [URL] When testing the event I run across two problems:
1 - when testing the movie from the flash IDE, the uncaught error is indeed caught and handled (as in the example) BUT the original
error still gets thrown! For example, when loading an XML file that does not exist: - first the uncaughterror event gets called. (good!) - then I get an unhandled event error (ioErrorEvent for not finding the xml file). Isn't the whole point of catching uncaught errors that you can catch ALL these errors? This way it seems rather useless to me.
2 - when testing the uncaughterror handler from a html page, the debugger gives an entirely new error: VerifyError: Error #1014: Class flash.events::UncaughtErrorEvent could not be found. So for now, I'm truly baffled as to what UncaughtErrorEvent is supposed to do and why it doesn't work
Professional :: Flash CS4 Can't Open .fla Files Or Lose Files/graphics?
Mar 20, 2010I installed Flash CS4 Professional trial version for school use. It wouldn't install successfully. I deleted the font files the troubleshooting guide said to, tried again, but gave up. (I'm afraid to run regedit and mess up everything else I have loaded.) (I previously had the Fireworks CS4 trial version loaded, then uninstalled it.) My problem is this- I have it running, but it saves files and then they can't be opened, even if I use the save function often- it's worse when I create the file, test the movie and then save.If I try to open it again, it says "cannot open file." Once it opened a copy I had saved, and it appeared blank, even though it was 544 kb file size. I only need it for a few more days, one more assignment and I'm afraid my previous files are corrupt. I have Windows Vista Home Edition.

I need to simply create "swf" files from a number of videos I have finished in Premiere Pro 5.5.
These videos are 800 x 600 videos that display at "point-of-sale". The spec is swf and not flv.
(I do not need to do anything else in Flash apart from create the video file with the swf extension.)

The rest of the page (html) displays without delay, but there's always about a 1 or 2 second lag for the swf. Nov 28, 2010I'm obviously doing something fundamentally wrong here, but in CS4, to make an .as file, I just chose to make one and started inserting code.
In CS5, when I chose to do so, or try to open a previous .as file, all my coding is greyed out.
How do I access my code, or add new code?
Professional :: Can't Seem To Attach The Flv And The Files?
Dec 22, 2010This file has been supposedly changed from As2 to As3. It seems as if it used to stop when I first got it. But the links didn't work. When I followed troubleshooting protocols, it started looping non-stop.
Please help. I can't seem to attach the flv and the action script files. All I get from the output window is "Fonts should be embedded for any text that may be edited at runtime, other than text with the "Use Device Fonts" setting. Use the Text > Font Embedding command to embed fonts."
Professional :: Can't Open Swf Files
Jan 26, 2011I have downloaded Adobe Flash Player and Adobe Shockwave Player to play some swf files I have downloaded. These files still say that Windows can't open them though and I don't know why. I've tried uninstalling reinstalling etc but the computer doesn't seem to know the Flash Player is there.

Feb 10, 2011My students and I enjoyed importing .mov files and tracing over them as we would embed them in the timeline in flash CS3. This year we upgraded to CS5 and I am finding that we cannot import the .mov files.
