I have a menu movieclip that has 800 x 22 px i need to embed this flash menu in a jsp page and make that the displayed menus got outside of this size and overlay the contents of jsp. kinda of what does the menus of the adobe page
View 1 RepliesI have a ComboBox in Flex with about 20 items. How do I display all of them in a dropdown with no scroll bar? Right now, Flex displays 5 at a time in the dropdown and puts a scrollbar to scroll for more.Here's an example:

how I export the thing (as an image, or a movie, and in any format) I can't see the text. This is especially frustrating because text forms the entire basis of my animation.Tried converting text to movie clips, no difference. The weird part is, I was able to test the thing early on with no problem-- text displayed and everything. I should add: I have used MULTIPLE fonts... and I think this was about when things started not working.I'm working on a deadline and if you know how to fix this, it would make a big difference to my life.
View 1 RepliesI have a movie clip on the stage. In the main .as file, I can easily access the instance i.e., myMovieClip_mc.x = 10; How do I do that from a class in my "classes" package? I am passing the stage instance into the constructor of the class, so I would think something like myStage.myMovieClip_mc.x = 10 would work, but it comlains that it is null.

View 5 RepliesIn my game, Ive got a HUD, (heads up display, life bar, points scorer etc...) and when an enemy comes onto the stage, the lifebar is appearing behind everything else, and it should really be the thing that's infront of everything else. Is there like a line of code and a function or variable I should declare or import that allows me to create depth and put my lifebar at the front.
View 2 RepliesI am making a site in flash. Without a preloader everything appears on the stage fine. Once I add a preloader I can no longer see certain things on the stage. I know they are on the stage because I can call them through code and I traced their getChildIndex and they are the same across both files. Files w/ preloader and problem:[URL] The main file is Test.fla. The code that adds the objects that I cannot see is in Test.as and the objects that I cannot see are menuBG, menuBGL, menuBGR, menuBGB, shader, grid, and imageStatus, or anything that is imported from the library.
Edit: The problem is caused by me exporting my classes in frame 2 which is needed by the preloader. In my init() function I tried adding gotoAndStop(3);

I have a looped sound and some components in my main movie (scroll bar) which for some reason is really bogging down my swf and causing the preloader bar not to show up until like 46% or something ridiculous.So I am trying to solve the problem by having a preloader swf as suggested by Kode in this thread. However, now all my targeting is messed up in my main movie. Everything that was _root has to change but I can't tell what to load it into. I tried using _parent, _parent._parent, _root.container_mc (which is a blank movie clip created in the preloader swf that main is loaded into after the preloader is 100%) and others but nothing works. Even the simple looped sound which was originally just _root.backsound.start(0,999) can't be targeted.how to target things on my main stage based on the preloader swf?

At the minute they are all just coming on together, how do i seperate the functions so they come on individually, for example like bullet points, e.g click once and image1 appears, click again and image2 appears etc... so eventually all of the images are on screen, but they don't all just appear together, if that makes sense!

I thought it might be done by having layers on a button with 2 hit areas, I mocked it up quickly, but it just played both animations when I hovered over each button.

Like FaceBook: You can login and register for a new account. Post on your wall (which I don't want that feature). Send messages and receive messages to and from people. Invite people to upcoming events (which I would like to have a calendar that I can create new events and have my members view the calendar and RSVP). And like when your posting on your wall you can make privacy settings change (similar to what I want just not friends only or just me option, I want Everyone, 'names of everyone that is a member to post this to'.).
I'm making an interactive animation for my project and I need to display chinese characters on stage. I've already installed the neccessary Window XP features to display chinese and it does display chinese anywhere I go. The strange thing is that the chinese characters are displayed as little white squares on stage but not in my library. In other words, I can read chinese in my library or any other places in my computer besides those that were set on stage.

View 6 RepliesI was wondering if there was a way to display emptyMovieClips created in Actionscript while working in Flash? I don't mean on run time but rather in real time, as you're working on the Stage in Flash. Basically, I drew a couple of things in Actionscript since I work with banners in varying sizes for different countries. I figured that it would be easier to draw the redundant things in AS and have them adjust automatically to the sizes of the banners rather than to do it for every single one. However, the downside is that myself and the other designers would like to see what we're working with on the Stage.

I would prefer to not show the stage of the generator project, but only output the pdfs file. Is it possible to make a screenshot of the stage without displaying it ?

I have a DynamicText movie clip call mcShotsText. In my .as file I'm creating an instance via:

If I make the symbol so that it starts with text, it displays that fine. I want to alter it in code throughout the course of the game. I was hoping this would work:

I have a datagrid on the stage with an instance name of dg. When I add a element to it, the data-grid adds it correctly (like it shows an empty row) just the data isn't shown. It's like the font is invisible or something. Do I need to like set a font on a datagrid component I have on the stage?

I have code for the user to enter their name in a text box. Once the submit button is clicked I want the name entered to be dispatched with an event as well as displayed on the stage. The reason I want the text field input name to be dispatched is because the text box to enter your name is on the main menu which is loaded and unloaded in order to play through various games.Below is the code to enter your name into the text box.

I have several swf files embedded in my website, but they don't display immediately in the browser. The rest of the page (html) displays without delay, but there's always about a 1 or 2 second lag for the swf. Is there a way to optimize the swf files so they load immediately along with the rest of the page?
View 4 RepliesI have a flash movie atwww.cityofhillcrestvillage.org that will not display either locally or remotely in IE8. It is written in actionscript 2 and requires Flash Player 7 or greater. It displays fine in Chrome and Firefox. I tested it in all three browsers when I first developed it a couple of months ago and it worked fine.When the page first loads, it flashes on for a second, then disappears, and the alternate content does not display. If you reload the page, it flashes on again for a split second.

It works fine, except that sometimes swfs load up, and sometimes they don't. For example, if I hit button 6, the 06.swf loads. but if I hit button 6 after hitting 3 other buttons, SOMETIMES 06.swf loads, other times it doens't and I get an error that relates to the removeChild

I made a number of Flash Movies during the week on my MACbook using CS4. Today when I open the files to continue building, I do a control movie and/or export movie and all my images display and move as designed but ALL TEXT is invisible. these same files worked fine yesterday. Aside from a shut down, with no issues, at the end of the workday nothing has changed that I can forsee.
When I publish an FLA, I get this message prompt:"Some characters could not be converted to outlines because an appropriate outline font is not available. These characters will disappear in the swf movie file. The characters that failed will look jagged if you choose Anti-Alias Text in the view menu."obviously I tried resetting the preferences and editting the anti alias preferences.. it is happening to all FLA files going back years and versions.
It is possible to create a flash picture that the usercan drag around ?In another words, this will be a big pictureon a small area or screen and the person withscrollbars or mouse can drag / pan the picture.
