I created a simple button that displays an error messeage: "error opening 'url" when I test the movie, but does play and opens in browser after publishing. However, it won't open in the browser in a different location. I pasted the html code in a web page but it doesn't work there nor opens in the browser in a differnet location from where it was originally published and saved. Why is that?

I have saved it as a SWF file and it works perfectly on my PC with the ability to sweep through the page turns. My issue is now, what type of file can I export the SWF file to so that I can view it on an iPad and am still able to have the page curls?

View 1 RepliesI'm attempting to create a template with one simple change to the file output location. I need the .swf file to placed in a subfolder, i.e. "output/filename.swf" Instead of the default "filename.swf"My problem is, if I edit the output file name field in publish settings in any way, the export file name is now locked, meaning if i have used my new template to create 3 fla files, they will all be named the same thing and replace one another in the output folder i've created. (trying to eliminate the need to open the publish settings menu here)I was hoping there was a variable like ${filename} or something i could use, but cannot find something like that.

I'm building a site that was bought from a template house that has a flash piece in the header. I have Win CS4 and have been able to swap out the images and replace the text but I am having a hard time finding where I can edit where/how the text aligns/ends up. Originally there was text of varying lengths that slides in below each image aligning right to the play/stop button. I tried to get them to give me text of a similar length but they just want the phone number. So now the phone number slides in but because the original text was longer (except for the one that had a ph#) they stop at different locations where the original 1st character came allowing to align right.
So my question is how/where do I edit this action? Would this be [in] the ActionScript? I am a complete noob and have only gotten to where I am through trial and error. I was able to find and replace the text in Essentials workspace and I was able to swap images (update) by right clicking them in the library view and I see a text export in there too that I have a high suspicion is what I need to edit but don't know how to access it.
I'm starting a blog with a hosted wordpress instance and i would like to be able to stream music using a flash player on some posts.The problem is that every player i find uses a simple param to get the file url which makes it very easy for someone to find that url and just download the file.I know that it's probably impossible to prevent this all together, but i at least don't want it to be obvious.

View 1 RepliesI'm using the Flash CS4 IDE, and the first page of my site takes a lot longer to load than I want it to. So I wanted to go through the varied images / symbols / movie clips / sounds and so on to see where all the memory is being chewed up. When I go into my library, however, I can see the Name, LInkage, usecound and Type of my elements, but no mention of file size and I can't seem to find any right click menu that lets me add file size to the list of details being displayed. Is there a way to make it show file size? Or some workaround? And are there any best practices to reduce file size aside from using symbols for anything that's used more than once and reducing image and sound quality?

View 3 RepliesI'm trying to compile some code and I keep getting a "Type was not found or was not a compile time constant" error, but it doesn't give me a location. When I right-click the error and select "Go to source" nothing happens. Anyone know what could be causing something like this? Or where I should look if there is nothing in the location field of the error report? It's really perplexing.
View 4 RepliesI never worked with movie files before and I'm having problems to play a f4v file from a html file.
Inside flash, when I do a ctrl+enter, the video shows and plays just fine.
When building the .html file to play it all, only my presentation and movie skin will show up but the movie won't load.
Even if I do a file > publish the video won't show up or play. Everything I have on timeline is working just fine (and again, even the videoskin is showing up).
Now, do I have to change anything inside publish settings or do I need to try something different with html?

why Flash does not organise files in the library, alphabetically, when type of file is selected? I would like to be able to see all my files grouped by type, but they are not in alphabetical order, which kind of defeats the purpose. Unless I am missing something shouldn't this be an issue for Adobe to fix?

I want to display 600 photos in a flash gallery. The user must be ble to add photos easily. They will preload load in sets of 12 thumbnails, clicking on a thumbnail will result in the larger photo loading. I would like to be able to arrange the photos by date, location and type of shot. I am using swf files for headers on my website. All has worked well until tonight. If I clear my browsing history in IE then go to my website, the swf does not show on the index page (index page only thus far). If you refresh the browser the file loads fine. The only thing I have changed is I added some css for a navigation bar, which I would not think would effect the swf. You can look at the site at [URL]
View 12 RepliesI have a site where all the pages have a common SWF embedded at the top (Nav and banner), but the rest of the page is HTML.Everything is working fine, but I'm finding the 'independence' between the HTML and Flash is making for some sloppy transitions from page to page.I was expecting the SWF to be delayed, at least for the first page visit(and I have a preload routine inside the swf to make it's delay and appearance a bit more visually pleasant), but was surprised to sometimes find the SWF appearing and playing while the HTML content was delayed (resulting in a SWF floating in black).What I'm wondering is if there's a way I can do some sort of preload on my index page.BUT, not the standard one that I'm sure everyone would suggest (like the javascript image 'preload', or the newer 'css visibility' preload trick). The problem with the standard one is that it doesn't check to see if everything is loaded.What I'm after is a routine on my index page that invisibly loads some of the elements from my inner pages (common swf, maybe some of the images) and WAITS until it's done before moving to the inner pages (displaying the company logo and/or a load status in the meantime).Many people would suggest a preloader inside the common SWF on my inner pages (which I have), but the problem with that on its own is that it doesn't stop the HTML from displaying.
I'm trying to figure out a way to do a preloader (like those in a SWF, which loops until everything is loaded) that controls both the SWF AND the HTML.Recently, I found that you can use one swf to preload another, which would be a potential solution, as I could make an SWF on the index page whose sole purpose is to load (invisibly) the common SWF, displaying the load status and then loading an inner html page once it's done.Problem is, I have bee having trouble finding the coding for that, as most searches for preloaders end up being about standard preloaders, where it's monitoring the same SWF that the code is on, as opposed to controlling a second, external SWF.Can someone point me to or provide me with the proper coding/procedure for a preloader that controlls a second external swf or give me a better solution?

I'm making videos for an instructional program. This involves importing audio, images, animating those images, etc. I'll be exporting to flv format at the end, and then converting them to MP4 for downloads online.H
1.) Should I be using ActionScript 3.0 or ActionScript 2.0 for this?
2.) When I try to import audio, the whole audio file doesn't show up immediately in a new layer that I've created. It only goes in the blank keyframe that I've inserted. How do I import the audio so that the entirety of it shows up?

View 2 RepliesMy client wanted two distinct swf on a web page: a viewer on top and a slideshow of images at bottom.Clicking a link on the slideshow make the viewer load a movie, by means of LocalConnection api.The slideshow has a default, so when the page is loaded a default movie start.This works nice on all browser. The only problem I have is on firefox. When screen resolution is too low, or the monitor is too small (netbook) the slideshow remain hidden until scrolling. Therefore at page loading it doesn't start and the main viewer don't get instructed on playing the default video.As soon as I scroll the page, and the slideshow swf display on page, it starts and everything works fine. I cannot change the design, I must have two distinct swf, the come from a library he has, and I am trying to reuse components.

Imagine I have an swf file on an html page. Beneath it I have a div called "container". I would like to hit a button in the flash file and have the contents of the container div change. I've done a similar thing with frames or iframes in the past, but I'm thinking there is a way to tell flash what div I am targetting.
