I have created a banner and wanted to randomize the URL that the user goes to. Basically the banner is of a product and it is sold a say 3 places. I wanted to randomize where the customer goes, but one of the three places it is sold. What is the easiest way to implement this? Generate a random number when the page loads and that determines the URL link?

I found this page that does the kind of thing I want to do, but it appears from looking at the source code that the person who has done this has cut the image up into several sections in order to fit it into a table: [URL] Is there a better way to achieve the same kind of effect using Flash by making ares of an image into links and keeping the image as a whole?

But whilst doing this, I wanted to remove the String from the Array that I have just used, so I don't get repetition of the same image in the output. I initially thought that pop would remove the string I had just used - But of course it Removes the last value in the Array instead, which doesn't really help.
Ok - so how about randomizing the data once inside the Array, after it has been pulled in from XML!? That way I can load in the 'last' image, and then pop it out! Keeping a randomized selection of images each time 'it' is loaded
i am doing a slideshow with images occuring randomly wch hav clickable links,okay it works but at times the transition is very fast instead of the 8s interval i expect ,when i view the trace() output ,i have noted that at times the timer is triggerd twice or more simultaneously...my code is below...what maybe the cause may u kindly assist i have 21 frames with 21 images

So here I am getting streams from facebook post. So when any facebook application's long image link I am getting that I can't display in Image container, this is not displaying image.
One also fact is that, When I am giving this link directly then it is working.....
When I have seen this in Charlse Debugging proxy then it is displaying 403,Forbidden error of image.

View 2 RepliesI have created one static movieclip and in that movieclip i have created "i" dynamic movieclips.On the dynamically created movieclip i am loading swf(Swf consists of a Preloader and then image appears).All these swf values and link(url) values i get by parsing an xml string in the FLA itself...Now the problem starts here...There are links on these dynamically loaded swf's....And I have given static rollover effect on the swf by making image as a button..Now what happens is that i have written onRelease Function in code and in that i m getting link on images(SWF) using getURL in on EnterFrame function and i am not gettin the rollover effects that i have created in static.

After trying to figure this out through forums such as this for days, it seems that my answer is to use XML (which I do not know, and which I think would require completely starting over).Is there any way to do this in AS3?
Again, I'm a novice user, but understand the basic animation tools of flash to feel comfortable using it as the platform to make this work. I'd like to be able to switch out images/links as necessary, and feel good about my ability to use flash to do that.
I have the 3D rotating cube. Each panel of the cube is an image pulled in through actionscript. When you click on one of the panels, the cube straightens itself to show only the face you've clicked on. This is all great. However, I want to be able to click on that face again and have it link to a URL. This is where I get lost.
I feel like I'm ALMOST there - I've gotten it to work so that I can click the panel and it links to a URL, but right now every panel links to the same link. I haven't figured out how to make each panel link to its own separate URL. Here is the portion of code in my .FLA where I've added the linking action:

So I assume I need to set up some sort of array so I can have multiple links that correlate with the appropriate image. To make it clearer, I've attached all of my files, so you can see all the code. You'll find actionscript in the .FLA and two external actionscript files. I think "cube.as" may be where I need to do the work.
I've just finished a flash projector for my company's lobby that displays all members of the staff in a dynamically generated grid with a page for each department. Flash reads an xml file generated from our Active Directory using php.
I've just discovered a bug. We have several employees that don't wish to have their images displayed; the autogenerated path to their images are therefore false. When the screen loads, a blank space appears where the movieclip is supposed to load.
How do I detect that the image link is bad (must be simple as flash gives out debug errors)? I would like to load an alternate image for staff with missing images.

I have a loader class that has a container and loads in swfs using Loader class. Within the loaded swf on the last frame of some nested clip, I have a call to a static function within some "Connector.as" class. Now what happens is when I try to unload the swf ( by removing all listeners, calling loader.stopAndUnload(), and setting all references of loader to null) before the nested clip calls the static funciton, the swf gets unloaded and garbage collected (all enterframe events etc. are removed because they no longer run) however even though there is no reference to the swf the nested clip still plays in the background and dispatches the call to the static function when the frame is reached
View 2 RepliesI have some problems with editing my flash file. Currently, I have a small flash application in a folder, containing various kinds of files such as AS, SWF, FLA, HTML. What I want to do is to change the text inside one of the buttons in the application. After doing some reasearching, I realized that I should probably make some changes to the FLA file(Quiz.fla for example) since Quiz.fla is the only FLA file in the folder. Therefore, I opened it using Adobe Flash CS5.5, what what I found out is that the Quiz.fla file is really different from other FLA files. It only shows a plain background when I open it, without showing the actual interface of the flash application. It does contain all the buttons and contants under the Library section on the right side of Adobe Flash . When I try to change the text inside the button then save-publish, the newly published SWF file would just be a static picture of the button I've changed and everything else is gone.

View 19 RepliesI created a site for a client and they are experiencing something weird with the top links in the base SWF. The links appear to be distorted or doubling up. I don't have anything extra in the MC. And what's worse is that I can't see this effect on any of the computers I have. They see it on their laptop.
