I have a loader class that has a container and loads in swfs using Loader class. Within the loaded swf on the last frame of some nested clip, I have a call to a static function within some "Connector.as" class. Now what happens is when I try to unload the swf ( by removing all listeners, calling loader.stopAndUnload(), and setting all references of loader to null) before the nested clip calls the static funciton, the swf gets unloaded and garbage collected (all enterframe events etc. are removed because they no longer run) however even though there is no reference to the swf the nested clip still plays in the background and dispatches the call to the static function when the frame is reached
I have a Flash movie that uses Actionscript 2.0 to trigger animations. The swf and flv files are separate though - the flv is called by the swf. There are cues in the flv that fire Actionscript events. How can I get the whole thing to export? I can convert the flv to an avi but I need the animations.
I've got a website where I want people to be able to upload their own SWFs which are then displayed on the page - mainly for timed image displays etc...I'm concerned about javascript security as flash can call JS functions, theoretically if you knew which JS commands to call (e.g. some AJAX stuff) then external people could do some real damage.So my question is, is there anyway I can disable calling javascript from within flash? Possibly something in the embed object paramaters tags?
Weeks back I faced a wierd issue in the behaviour of flashplayer running on IE7 which is invoking parallel https calls. I have two SSL enabled servers one is listening on port 443 and the other is listening on port 8443 but both running in the same domain. I developed a flex client (using httpservice class) which sends parallel https requests to these two servers. When the number of parallel requests increases say more than 5 requests to each server, the fault handler was encountered with the error message:[code]After breaking my head for a long days, I got one solution which would work. This issue is happening only if we are sending https requests to different ports in the same domain. So rather than moving one among the two servers to a new domain, I got a new DNS name for the same destination. So presently I got two DNS names pointing to the same machine in which both the servers are mounted.Now that I am using a separate DNS name for the server listening on port 8443 and the old DNS name is used to hit the server listening on 443.
Using the web services panel, I've connected to a web service, but all the method calls will only show the param structures/types - not the result structures/types. Is it possible to unload, or remove a code in an action layer after it has been loaded and run in a timeline.
What I'm trying to accomplish is twofold, one, I'm trying to reload a code on a particular frame like it is on frame one, without playing the entire swf from frame one, and two I would like to possibly be able to change a mouse event on the same button from one thing to another along a timeline, which would require the initial function be removed so it does not conflict/error with the other event.
I create a .swf file and couldt seem to find actionscript code to exit/unload the file. I also cant find code to automatically load a file as a full screen. I have used the code below but it seems to only works in projector or .exe files but not in the .swf file.

I have some problems with editing my flash file. Currently, I have a small flash application in a folder, containing various kinds of files such as AS, SWF, FLA, HTML. What I want to do is to change the text inside one of the buttons in the application. After doing some reasearching, I realized that I should probably make some changes to the FLA file(Quiz.fla for example) since Quiz.fla is the only FLA file in the folder. Therefore, I opened it using Adobe Flash CS5.5, what what I found out is that the Quiz.fla file is really different from other FLA files. It only shows a plain background when I open it, without showing the actual interface of the flash application. It does contain all the buttons and contants under the Library section on the right side of Adobe Flash . When I try to change the text inside the button then save-publish, the newly published SWF file would just be a static picture of the button I've changed and everything else is gone.
Have a text box and would like to hyperlink some of the words in the text (this is a basic, static, text box). How in Flash CS5 / AS3? Do I actually need to set up some sort of event listener for something as basic as this? And if it's not one of the 3 symbol options, then how?It's not as simple as selecting and going to the properties to find the field anymore...
im having troubles unloading a swf file that is 2 levels above my main movie. Basically I have a main movie and I have actionscript on the timeline which corresponds to a button which loads a swf (eg my web portfolio work):
This all works....Then in this swf I have another button which again loads another swf on top to show a particular piece of work and the code on the timeline to correspond to the button is:

This works also....but I come into problems when I want to create a button in this third swf file which then closes this Dior.swf so you are left with the bottom two still showing. I already have a close button on the Digital.swf which works a charm to get you back to the main movie and the code for this is:
I have tried several suggestions on this forum to resolve my issue, but it is obvious to me I am missing something because I am a NOVICE Flash developer. I have everything working in my Flash file EXCEPT I want to use this code to play a .swf file. When the swf file is done playing OR the user clicks the return to Main Menu button, they return to frame 1.[code]The .swf file plays and when I click Return to the Main Menu button, only certain items display from frame 1. The .swf file is still loaded hiding the items that should display on frame 1. I have attached a screen shot of what happens when I click the "Return to Main Menu" button.
I am working on a school project that requires me to load external .swf or .jpg files. I currently have all of the buttons working and are loading an external .swf file on to the screen. The problem I am having is that when I go from one button to the next the loaded .swf stays on the screen and the next .swf gets loaded on top of it. I know that I need to unload the file but I am not sure where to put the code for the unload or what code exactly to use. I would like when the button is pressed to unload the previous loaded .swf and load the new .swf without having a separate button to unload.
I created a site for a client and they are experiencing something weird with the top links in the base SWF. The links appear to be distorted or doubling up. I don't have anything extra in the MC. And what's worse is that I can't see this effect on any of the computers I have. They see it on their laptop.
I have created a banner and wanted to randomize the URL that the user goes to. Basically the banner is of a product and it is sold a say 3 places. I wanted to randomize where the customer goes, but one of the three places it is sold. What is the easiest way to implement this? Generate a random number when the page loads and that determines the URL link?
I'm trying to unload an external SWF on _root to load a new one instead. I've tried (almost) everything but can't figure it out... I get this error : "Error #1010: A term is undefined and has no properties."
I have a Flash animation that loads a quick animation and then on a button click loads and external swf while at the same time moves the playhead on the timeline to frame 2 so that it has a blank stage to play on. The external swf then loads and plays. At the end of the external swf's animation I would like it to unload and then return to frame one of the containing movie. I am assuming that on the last frame of the external swf I should be putting some actionscript that will unload the movie and then talk to the initial containing flash telling it to return to frame 1.
The main swf button that loads the external swf is using a code snippet from the AS3 CS5 library and looks like this...

So to unload the external swf and return would I use something like... this.unload(gotoAndStop(1));
I think the title says it all. I'm building website and I've come half way now just to notice that my clients cant see my font that supposed to be there. What I've learned so far is that in static text fields, flash should embed it itself since I can't reference to it + embedFonts property not working, how can I fix this problem? Anyone had anything similar?hat are common mistakes? I'm pretty new at all of this.
1. Static var(an Array) stored in a class. 2. You create a variable reference to the static class in a separate class. 3. Splice some items from the reference variable in the separate class. 4. Trace the static class and the items have been removed from that too. 5. Verify several times. 6. Get confused. 7. Post on Kirupa.
Ok, so I have a bit of a mess here (Which I'm probably not doing right anyway, which could be my problem...). I have a document class, I'll call it as Body.as, that creates an object from another class known as Headgear.as. There are also other objects created from other classes, or will be in the future. Now, amoung all this, Headgear.as and all of the other classes Body.as will use to make objects require the use of dragging functions (starting and stopping dragging). On stopping drags, position checks are then made to compare a particular hidden movieclip with the dragged MC.
To try and save myself some hassle (from making the same functions over and over to ensuring that when the objects are created I don't need to send a complete crapload of variables just to ensure the position checking function would work), I had the functions for the event listeners (Which are set-up on the draggable MCs in Headgear.as) just direct to functions in Body.as
If I created a static method. say I decide to call on other methods within that static method. Do those methods I call on need to be static as well? what If I used some of the properties. Not to store data permanently, but just within that process. Do those properties need to be static ??
Yesterday I found myself wondering, what is the difference between either having a class with methods that are all static, or simply giving your class the static attribute?
Alright, so I have a class that is linked (via the linkage panel) to a scrollbox class. I'll paste the class here:[code]Ignoring the formatting, the commented out functions are the ones causing the issue. Adobe says that it's a static class and I can't use non-static functions. The way I wanted to use it was:
1. Call the page button generating function above.
2. In the main code in my program is this line:scrollbox.setClickFunction(historyContent.generate Page);So when the buttons that are supposed to be generated are clicked, the scrollbox class can call the History pages generatePage function and pass it which page to show. (I did this because there was a lot of text and a limit on how much would display, so small chunks sounded logical).
3. In the onClick function (which I haven't finished yet because the rest wont work), when you click one of the buttons it calls the set function. Its that simple.
