Have a text box and would like to hyperlink some of the words in the text (this is a basic, static, text box). How in Flash CS5 / AS3? Do I actually need to set up some sort of event listener for something as basic as this? And if it's not one of the 3 symbol options, then how?It's not as simple as selecting and going to the properties to find the field anymore...
View 1 RepliesI created a site for a client and they are experiencing something weird with the top links in the base SWF. The links appear to be distorted or doubling up. I don't have anything extra in the MC. And what's worse is that I can't see this effect on any of the computers I have. They see it on their laptop.

I think the title says it all. I'm building website and I've come half way now just to notice that my clients cant see my font that supposed to be there. What I've learned so far is that in static text fields, flash should embed it itself since I can't reference to it + embedFonts property not working, how can I fix this problem? Anyone had anything similar?hat are common mistakes? I'm pretty new at all of this.

I can think about setting up a transparent rectangle over it with the hyperlink, but I'm actually a dba and sql programmer and have no idea how to do this. View 2 RepliesI have an ASP.NET website in VB with a SWF objectas the banner in it. The Banner is AS3 and it is on the master page of my site. I am trying to set up hyperlinks in the banner that will link to various pages in the site. The code works, meaning the MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN listener will open a new page when the corresponding object is clicked but it only loads the content page, not the master page. The page that loads does not have the master page or any CSS applied. Here is my code:

in Flash CS4 I have static text like: Line1 and line2 It's in 9 point Arial Regular as a device font. If I set the line spacing below 3.9 the second line dissappears from the compiled SWF file. It still shows in the FLA file. The same thing happens at 6pt but NOT at 5pt or less.

View 3 RepliesI have a loader class that has a container and loads in swfs using Loader class. Within the loaded swf on the last frame of some nested clip, I have a call to a static function within some "Connector.as" class. Now what happens is when I try to unload the swf ( by removing all listeners, calling loader.stopAndUnload(), and setting all references of loader to null) before the nested clip calls the static funciton, the swf gets unloaded and garbage collected (all enterframe events etc. are removed because they no longer run) however even though there is no reference to the swf the nested clip still plays in the background and dispatches the call to the static function when the frame is reached
View 2 RepliesI have some problems with editing my flash file. Currently, I have a small flash application in a folder, containing various kinds of files such as AS, SWF, FLA, HTML. What I want to do is to change the text inside one of the buttons in the application. After doing some reasearching, I realized that I should probably make some changes to the FLA file(Quiz.fla for example) since Quiz.fla is the only FLA file in the folder. Therefore, I opened it using Adobe Flash CS5.5, what what I found out is that the Quiz.fla file is really different from other FLA files. It only shows a plain background when I open it, without showing the actual interface of the flash application. It does contain all the buttons and contants under the Library section on the right side of Adobe Flash . When I try to change the text inside the button then save-publish, the newly published SWF file would just be a static picture of the button I've changed and everything else is gone.

View 1 RepliesI converted a static text field to a mc then thirty frames later inserted a keyframe and droped the mc's alpha to zero.. then created a motion tween between the keyframes... yet for some reason the text isnt fading when I test the movie... it works fine in the flash authoring environment as you click through the frames but it doesnt in the test movie mode.. any suggestions? ( i broke the text apart down to shapes and it worked fine, but that of course will cause indexing problems for content with google so this really isnt an option)

View 1 RepliesI have an odd situation where the static text each within a mc for a menu are shifting slightly up and down despite having the exact same rounded x/y values throughout on the timeline in the properties box. There are a few frames on the timeline where they are contained within another movieclip to fade them in, and when I zoom in and make sure they line up exactly, they are fine, but when I play the movie back at various magnifications within the authoring environment and as an exported swf, they randomly shift slightly. Sometimes they randomly shift, and other times at the same magnification they don't at all when replayed back again. It's making me pull my hair out and grind my teeth because I don't know if I am dealing with a known bug or (more likely) my ignorance. I know there is a better way of doing this all with action script, but honestly I am not there yet by a long shot, unless someone could direct me to a proper tutorial.
View 5 RepliesI have created a static text in my FLA file and for some reason when I convert it to a movieclip symbol, my setting of the text - such as the letter spacing - are no longer. It scrunches together and looks pixelated. Any knowledge as to why? It was not doing this a while ago but I don't see what I have changed!
