Professional :: Textfield Loop - Rollover And Clickevents?
Sep 20, 2010
I have created a loop with 5 textfields (with 5 different names). The textfields autosizes and are in an array, so i can place every textfield as i want.
- But how do i create rollover and click events to these textfields?
- Is it possible to place this loop in a movieclip, where the movieclip autosizes according to the text in my text-array?
This is for a menu only with text - no graphic.
My Code:
// INITIAL VARIABLES
var buttonArray:Array = new Array( );
var currentButton:Object=new Object;
I have two buttons and an swf file (a movie I created in After Effects). I want to do the following:
-When the page loads I would like the swf file (the TV) the stay frozen on frame 1 (the picture of the child's face). -When the mouse is rolled-over the "Home" button, I want the swf file (the TV) to play frames 2-59, and loop on these frames until the mouse is rolled-off the "Home" button. -When the mouse rolls off of the "Home" button I want the swf file (the TV) to instantly go back to frame 1 and stay on frame 1 until the mouse rollsover another button.
If the mouse rolls over the "Products" button, I want the TV to loop frames 60-109, and again instantly go back to frame 1 when the mouse is rolled-off the "Products" button. I will use these buttons as a template, copy and paste them, so that I can easily make different segments of the TV play when different buttons are rolled-over. Please take a look at the fla file [URL]. The fla file is a little large (about 23 megs).
Okay, now things are getting a little complicated. I need to build a Flash object that can sit over the corner of an image to serve extra content. It's way beyond my Flash skill level, my work is usually limited to print work in Photoshop and Illustrator so please excuse me if any of the following isn't clear. I am trying to learn though, So this is how it's all supposed to work, along with my issues; When the image & Flash item load a small looping animation will play to draw the eye/show the item as interactive.
When the user rolls over this the corner will peelback. I have a working peelback animation for the rollover, that reacts to mouse over/mouse off, and a looping animation for the initial, but I cannot work out how to make the initial loop until mouseover, then play the peelback when the mouse is over. And go back to the initial animation loop if the user rolls off. (Each of these animations is stored as a movie clip in the Library) Then it gets more complicated... if the user stays on the corner until it is fully peeled back I need to make a small countdown (sort of a 3, 2, 1 situation) show, before launching a lightbox (would this have to be jQuery, or could it be done in Flash?) in the browser to serve the content.
I have a movieClip that I use as a background which sits underneath two textFields that are dynamically generated... I have added MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER and MouseEvent.MOUSE_OUT to that movieClip so that I can change the alpha value to fade in/out the background... The problem is when you directly rollOver on top of the textField which prohibits the MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER happening on the background movieClip...I tried to set the selectable to false on those textFields, but that did not have any effect...
[code]on myMC movieclip contains a textfield output.is this the correct way to change the colour for the text?is there a way to change the background color of a textfield without borders?
I have create a TextField over a button inside a movieclip and when I roll over the part of the button where the TextField is the rollover is not registered. Is there a way to prevent the mouse from seeing the TextField so the rollover just happens? I've set the selectable parameter to false, but that hasn't fixed it.
I've got a Next button with a rollover that works fine. However, when the user reaches the end of the page, the button needs to flash to let the user know they need to click it.
I set this up the way I would have in AS2, with an up state in frame 1, rollover state in frame 2 and frame 3-10 has the animation for the flashing state. In AS3, as soon as I put the animation in, the rollover no longer works and I think it's tied to my animation layer since it works if I remove that layer. I tried putting the layer under my normal button layer, thinking it's not recognizing the animation as part of the button. I tried using classic tweens and the new tweens and nothing seems to work...
I attached the file. You can see that the rollovers work, if you click the pause button, it triggers the flashing animation and then, I get the following error if I try rolling over:
TypeError: Error #1010: A term is undefined and has no properties. at buttonRO_fla::MainTimeline/BtnIn()
and tracing the target name no longer shows the button name (as it does before you do the flash)...

I have three movieclips (used as buttons) on my main MC. The following code swaps the depth of a dynamically loaded image the when I rollOver each movieclip (button)I want to put the button.rollOver code in a for loop so I dont have to repeat this code for every image loaded.
[AS] x = 150; // x location of image Y = 100; // y location of image
I just recently started playing with cs5 and it's new features. I tried to rotate a textfield with the 3D rotation tool, but when you do this, the textfields gets blurry.And it seems like it's not a vector text anymore, because when you zoom in, it still is blurry.Is there a way to prevent that?
I created a movie clip that I am using as a button. I created the states in the clip (up, down, over) and the graphics work, but the sound is driving me crazy. I have a rollover loop that plays and a special click sound on the down/press. On the mouseclick, I want the rollover loop to stop and the down/click sound to play. Also, a getURL is happening on the release. Basically, everything works, except you can't hear the down/click sound. All sound just stops on the click.THis is AS2. Here's my code on the first frame. In the clip/button itself, I have the states labeled, the sounds placed using the properties and a stop on each keyframe of each state.:
I have an for each loop that creates a new textField for each item and I need to know how you can give each textField a unique name so it can be targeted later on.Here is the relevent code:
Code: var i:int = 1; for each (var titleElement:XML in titleList) {
The following is the script for a button that is in my library (no instances onstage at start) which I need to be created from a for loop(courtesy of the excellent Henke37);
The code works as far as fetching the urls, but the rollovers no longer function. Does anyone no a way around this? Apart from putting the clips in separate Flas, which increases the download time significantly...
So I'm designing a website in flash. I want users to be able to mouseover an image OR text to create the desired effect. The idea is a group of pictures that go from black and white to color if you mouse over them OR the text (links) below. So I need to somehow link the rollover effect.
The original flash has a publish setting to Flash Player 5, and I have to have the publish setting set to Flash Player 8 (actionscript 2). The original flash works with the Flash Player 5 setting however when I change it the rollover text to picture stops working.
I'm pretty new to Flash, and I want to create a button like these.I understand how to make a basic rollover button, but I haven't got a clue how to do animation like that.URL...
I do animation as a hobby on youtube (using a combination of Adobe Photoshop, Sony Vegas, and a few other programs for specifics such as morphing and mouth movements), and I was recently contacted by someone who wanted me to do some work for their website by making animation. The catch is, however, that they want my videos to be in flash format with the option to start playing (and repeat) when a person rolls over the scenes with their mouse.
Now, I was able to figure out how to convert my videos into Flash F4V format (yea!), but I can't figure out for the life of me what to do next. All of the tutorials I've read talk about inserting buttons and changing instances and setting things to over and... it doesn't make a lick of sense to me.
I'm not a dummy... but I've never used this program before, and a lot of the videos out there seem to assume a familiarity with the product.
It "sounds" like it should be something easy and simple enough to do, but I must be missing something obvious here.
I'm in the middle of redesigning my portfolio site and I'm running into an issue in Flash. I have added a sound to the rollover of a movieclip button and it works fine as I navigate forward through the site, but when I jump backwards the sound starts repeating and it multiplies by the number of times I go back. I have put the sound in using the properties palette and am wondering if there is a simple way to add some AS3 code to the rollover function. I'm sure it is a simple fix, but I'm no AS3 master by any stretch. Below is my current button code. Can I just add code to the 'onRollOverHandler' function?
I am a Trainee Web Designer. I have done a few major projects for websites and stuff using alot of Adobe Programs but i have this job where i need to make a map of a school with rollover mouse effects. So when the mouse rolls over the Admin Building on the map, a large picture of the Admin Building comes up. Then when the mouse is moved away the images closes. I need to do that with about 8 images. I have one main image which is an arial of the school, then there is different sections that i need to make 'active'
How can i go about doing this? i have looked for tutorials for ages now but they are either outdated or too advanced for me, i just need a tutorial that can show me how to achieve my goal. i cotton onto things very quickly so i dont get lost unless things get too advanced or there is a lack of explanation.
I am making a Flash ad for my company. I am a beginner/intermediate Flash user. I need to add a clickTag, which is done. The issue is that I want the button to "shimmer" when it is rolled over. I cannot figure out how to make this work with the clickTag having to be the topmost layer in the file.
This is what I have so far: shinyButton.onRollOver = function() { this.glitter.play();};clicktag_but.onPress = function(){ getURL(_root.clickTAG, "_blank");};
How to get a video to play upon rollover and pause upon rolling out? Here's an example: [URL]. Roll over the dark gray stripe and click on Contact. Roll over the videos to start them. I have not been able to find any info out there on how this is done.
I have created a rollover image in fireworks, which works in the preview option on fireworks.I have exported it as : html & images, exporting slices.This works when I open it straight from the file BUT when I try pasting it into dreamweaver (insert -> image: fireworks html) the box where the rollover image appears but with a cross in it.I have also tried copying the html from fireworks into dreamweaver but this doesn't work.When I try this the image appears and the link works BUT the rollover doesn't?This is the code I use:
I'm interested in learning how to create a "3d" object that a user can interact with using their mouse. I've taken 60+ pictures of a camera rotating by 5 degree increments and I'm trying to put together something similar to what Verizon has on their website for phones - Where your mouse rolls over an object and rotates it.
I've seen this done with Java as well, but I'm interested in how flash does it.
