Professional :: Unloading A Loaded SWF File
Jun 14, 2010
I am using the following code to load a SWF file into a Flash animation. The SWF file is nothing more than a short flv video (10 seconds). Users have the option of clicking a "HOME" mc if they want to return to the main menu before the flv video is completely finished playing.
[Code]....
When I click the HOME mc the lipStop.swf disappears as I intend and the animation returns to frame 1, but somehow I can still hear the SWF file playing in the background. I tried the samething using a FLV playback component and the same thing happens: timeline returns to frame 1, the image diappears, but I can still hear the audio track in the background.

The first part is that I am downloading a SWF from a server that has a bunch of exported images in it. I am doing a lookup of the class names for these images then using that to load the data into the application. Later on down the line it is possible to download a separate SWF that has images in the same format with overlapping names.The issue here is that when loading the second SWF with duplicate names it doesn't overwrite the data as one might expect, it uses whatever was loaded first. So I need to know if it's possible to either make it overwrite the classes with the new data or throw them away before loading the new SWF so the old ones don't get in the way. Is this possible at all

how to unload the swfs in as3 once you click a button to load a new one.
My file works great, with the exception of the videos playing over each other. slight bummer.
I have five buttons that each pull an external swf that is controlled by an xml file. If there were not sound it would not be an issue, but the sound overlaps if you click to the next link before the first video finishes playing.
I uploaded all the files here, including two test flv files. the files were too big to upload to the kirupa forum.

I have a master swf that uses Loader to load in an external swf. I need to load a back button on top of that stack as a separate Child - and I have code in that loaded Child that needs to Unload the Loader-Loaded swf, unload the Buttons, and move the main timeline to another frame.

I'm about getting crazy over the inconsistency of loading and unloading movies processes.First one or two movies, ok. But after that, I always has my fingers crossed.It's a mixture or simple game and quiz movies. So I have this Main movie as the controller that control about 3 game movies and 16 quiz movies. So, I have these piece of codes in my Main movie timeline:
onEnterFrame = function () {
if (NextMovieOK) {
switch (movieQNum) {

I'm using Loader::load() successfully to load swfs into my main swf and then I add them as a child of a Sprite. When other events occur I want to remove the swfs as needed. I have looked at unload() and at removeChildAt() without success.
I only added the addChild() call to try to pin down the loaded instance so I could remove it. The loading works fine without the addChild();
I have also tried publishing to player v.10 and using myLoader.unloadAndStop(); but this has no effect either;
The following demo code shows my problem. I see one child added and one removed but intro.swf is still playing away.
import flash.display.Loader;
import flash.display.Sprite;
import flash.display.LoaderInfo;

I'am developing a Custom Player for SWF's,...the SWF's are loaded externally.I've added functionality so as to load next SWf if next_btn is clicked and previous sef if prev_btn is clicked.Now, whats happening is that, the sound of the loaded swf is still playing in the background if another swf is loaded along with the loaded swf's sound.I'am thinking that if I'am able to remove the loaded swf and then load the next swf, then this problem will be solved,...I just don't know how to unload it.My code so far is...
var Xpos:Number = 0.0;
var Ypos:Number = 0.0;
var swf:MovieClip;

I am currently writing a site and one of the things it does is read variables from a database (by using the following code to access a php file which does the database lookup): loadVariablesNum ("loadvariables.php", 0, "POST"); This works perfectly, however following this I load a number of images based on the variables that are returned. i can't work out how to put an eventlistener, or something similar, so i can tell when loadvariables.php has finished loading. Then i can just load the relevant images in the oncomplete section (or the equivalent).

is there a way to capture the Error loading message as a boolean when loading an external file (AS2)? I wanted to make a decision based on the success for loadMovieNum.
The scenario is that I have a file that I am loading with loadMovieNum and all is working successfully.
The circumstance I wish to cover is if the file is missing for any reason, I want to load a placeholder movie.
I have looked at onLoad and onClipEvent(load) but these appear to only be for movieclips and not external files.

I'm currently working on a educational project for e-learning. This project has multiple buttons for opening several specific SWF files. What I want to accomplish is to be able to use my container file with 3 primary buttons for the named SWF files and have them load in a specific location in the container SWF. Then I have a separate button that just needs to close the loaded SWF file. FYI, the 3 primary buttons will be covered by the loaded swf file. I'm including my AS3 code for review. I can load a SWF and close it once. After that, it doesn't work.

Kglad from adobe forum said this but it doesn't work,the pop() method removes the last item in an array and returns that item. so, if you need that reference in your next-to-last line of code, use:
import flash.events.MouseEvent;
import fl.display.ProLoader;
var proLoaders:Array = new Array();

I load an external swf file (a music player) in a certain frame but need to figure out how to remove it when the user navigates to a different section. I've googled it and checked out the rest of the forum but having a hard time finding a specific code I can directly insert, I'm still not too code oriented and wouldn't know how to write it out even if given the proper terms. I feel as if it should be something as simple as:[code]But I don't know AS3 so I ultimately have no clue.

I am new flash developer, and inherited a project which has 4 fla project files. When it runs inside a browser, it appears "window" which occupies whole browser. This project is write in Flash CS3. I have few questions:
1). When loading main swf file, 3 other swf files are also loaded. These swf files are communicating with each other through message. When debug the mail swf with CS3, I can set breakpoint and the program can stop only at limited AS files. My questions is how to debug other AS files in other swf file?
2) I used CS5. It seems that I can stop at more AS files, which does not belong to main swf file. Why?
My questions is should I use CS5, which might makes debugging easier? Is it right direction to go to debug multiple swf? (For CS5, I need to fix some code in order to make the program fully working as CS3)
3) What's best tool to use for such project since CS3 is very old. Should I use Flash builder, Flex. Amethyst?

Each button loads an external .swf loader.load(URLRequest);After playing first external swf, before I go to next one, I try to unload it1. remove all its associated listeners:com_loader.contentLoaderInfo.removeEventListener(Event.INIT-PROGRESS-C OMPLETE, idFunction);2. unload it:

I have added two consecutive streaming audio tracks (mp3) to a child SWF. The child SWF loads onto a parent SWF using a loader. After loading the child SWF the movieclip and audio plays without a problem. In the last frame of the child SWF a dispatchEvent is used to signal the end at which time the loader is unloaded and the playhead reset in the parent SWF.
I have a problem with stopping the audio. After the loader is unloaded and the playhead reset in the parent SWF the first audio track plays again (but not the one after it). I have been trying to use the SoundMixer.stopAll(); command to stop the audio. I have not been sucessful in preventing the audio from playing. The command only works AFTER the audio begins playing and I manually move the playhead to a frame containing the SoundMixer.stopAll(); command.
I have been reading some older threads with similar problems and haven't found a solution that works for me. I have placed the SoundMixer.stopAll(); command in every possible loaction in the main timelines of the parent and child SWF without success. Why is the sound file playing after I unload the child SWF? Is there a way to prevent it from playing again?

[URL]I have: main.swf (a menu) and I have module.swf (content)If you navigate to Subsea Wellhead Systems/SS-15 BigBore II and click on that I have it load an external swf which covers most of the parent. So far so good. My problem is unloading the loaded 'Child' swf with the button provided on the loaded 'Child' swf.below is the code I used to load the file but I cant, for the life of me, find a way to unload it.
var bigboreLoader:Loader = new Loader();btnbb2.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, bigborecontent);
function bigborecontent(event:MouseEvent):void{var bigboreRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest("moduletemplate.swf"); bigboreLoader.load(bigboreRequest); stage.addChild(bigboreLoader);
I am certain it requires the Child to communicate with the parent somehow but I am at a loss. If I could get a bit of advice or a link to something deal with this, it would be a big help. I just need to have my links load my modules and the remove them when the close buttong is hit on the loaded swf. I promise I have done searches and I admit I have found asnwers but still they are not working. I found the code below:
Main FLA:
function removeF() {
removeChild(bigboreLoader);
}

I'm building a flash movie for something at work and im loading in some images using an XML file but when i use a preloader it only preloads the XML file (as in just the text inside) and not the images.
This causes the movie to start playing without having the images loaded.Does anyone have any ideas about how i could get it to preload the contents/images being called in the XML file so it doesn't run as soon as the XML file is loaded.
