I've created a regular text box in Flash and have found that I can only apply italic, bold, centered etc options to the whole text box. What do I need to do to be able to apply workinf HTML tags to my text to correct this?

If not I know theres is the load feature where I can load text from a text file. With the html text box editing, Can i link that to the text file?. As in when you edit the text box with html could i have the textbox's instance name equal to the text file? With this my issue is with the <a href> in one textbox, I would like when i click those it open another text file in a different text box.
Clarification: I have two text boxes in my flash file.One has current products. And the other is the description of the product they select. I would like a way to edit and change the products in the first text box without having to keep using the FLA file. Which is why i am using this code

The contents of myText.txt are <a href=(not sure what to put here)> Product 1 </a> But all that does is put it in the text output section in flash.It does not show it in flash. I need help getting it to show up in a text box.That is the first part But the main problem is im not sure how to code the a href correctly so that when i click it, another text file opens in the second text box.So that when a user clicks on a product ,like "Product 1" It opens the correct description text file in the second text box.
It's what this image describes:For some reason, I cannot use bold tags to set the TLF text to bold, even though both the regular and bold fonts are embedded.so that the webpage that embeds this movie can call its function (otherwise the movie itself will be wrapped by TLF).his is not exactly a question since there is an obvious solution to this. Just set the htmlText as something like "<font face='Myriad Web Pro'><b>BOLD</b></font>" and you're done.hs issue is, why does it not render the bold text without the font tag in the first place, if I have already set the font of the TLF text in the PI?
View 2 RepliesIs there a way to type HTML directly into a TextField in Flash CS4? I've created a TextField on the stage, set it to dynamic, set "Render text as HTML" and thought that I could then type HTML directly into the TextField and that it would be rendered as such. Instead it displays whatever HTML I type as regular text.
I assume then that the only way to get HTML into one of these fields is to dynamically load it into the TextField through the htmlText property. Is this right? And if so, what exactly is the purpose of having a "Render text as HTML" button in the first place? Couldn't I just load the HTML into the TextField through the htmlText property anyways?
Well, at any rate, I was really hoping to use as much of the flash interface for the project I'm working on, such that anyone who didn't know AS3 could easily update it themselves. Now it's looking like not only will they have to know AS3 and HTML, but also have to deal with the hassle of formatting what will potentially be a complex system of images, textfields, and videos all in AS3 with no visual interface.
Is it too much to ask to be able to just highlight some text and make it bold or italic? That's really all I need, sadly.
I am a PHP Developer, I know nothing about Flash and with all respect I do not want to know anything about. I develop a CMS which provides the backend for a Flash front end. Data is passed to the template via XML. Everything is grand. The problem is with text formatting. Currently we use the dodgiest flash text formatter. It doesn't work half the time, its horrible but it - just about - does the job. I have been tasked with replacing it. I would like to bring in CKEditor or TinyMCE but when I do I have 2 major problems.
1) Pre-existing HTML messes up the display in TinyMCE due to its invalidity (I can solve this.)
2) The TinyMCE HTML breaks the flash template because of the valid HTML.
I'm able to use a .txt file with basic html elements inside to display correctly. But I now have a structured document done in ms word. If I copy the html and try to save as a .txt file it will only allow to be saved as .rtfis there a way to preserve all the font, breaks and styles from a doc saved in .rtf or can I do this in a different way.

The following script does not generates compiler errors, each function seems to be executed yet the file is not displayed. When trying the same code with myCV.txt and myCV_TA.text = (loader1.data) the text file is displayed OK. Flash MX and actionscript 2.0 had handled that differently but with success?

I have an Input Text box that has a variable assigned to it.The user is to input a number, and then it is submitted with a button that does a simple conditional if statement check. I noticed that the if statement is constantly failing because the variable is tracing back as HTML.The trace of the variable looks like this:

If I just display regular text it works or if I change the textArea element to a RichEditableText element it works fine. View 1 RepliesI have a text field component that I am dynamically populating with text. The words appear one letter at a time in a teleprinter style fashion. I also have rendered certain words with HTML to make style changes within the text.Now all this works fine, except because the HTML text is larger than the body of the other text, I am losing theteleprintereffect at the bottom of the text field. In other words, after a set amount has been printed, users are not seeing the letters printed out one at a time, but instead just get a printed line of text appear from beneath the visible section of the text window.

I've tried putting it in the html text and also using NewTextFormat and neither work. Can someone help me. This should be a simple fix, but I can't find it... I am trying to implement htmlText for a text component as the returned string is in html format (with the html tags etc). If I put a text=.... i get the full text, but with the tags (which i want converted to html). So i use htmlText=.... and it formats it fine, but cuts half the text from the variable. The text im supposed to get back has tons of html tags, and maybe its cutting it somewhere because of the tag its not able to escape... How do i fix this?
View 1 RepliesI am using a dynamic text field to show html formatted text from .txt files. I have set the html property both in the properties panel and in AS, and it mostly works. All html formatting show up just fine, except for when "&" is used. Flash CS3 documentation indicates that & is supported, so.? All text after the & does not appear: the only text loaded is that that comes before it. I am using CS3, AS2, publishing in Flash Player 9. Sorry if this problem has been addressed elsewhere, but I've had no luck with my searches.

I'm building this flash site for a friend and he wants to be able to edit the contents and maintain the site by himself later on. So naturally, I used a dynamic text field that uses URLloader to link to an external html, dandy. Problem is, my friend wants to use dreamweaver to edit the contents of html (or even just a word document exported as html) and it's just driving him nuts because the text look nothing like that way it did in DW when it's loaded into the dynamic text field (extra spacing and line break popping up randomly everywhere). Is there an alternative solution other then telling him to just edit it in notepad? What if I switch over to XML?
