I'm trying to change an image, but I noticed that the image is in a symbol/movie clip type.. I also found out that the image itself (jpg/gif/png format) is not in the library. So what to do? How to change it? Also, when importing image files to the library, how do I import it automatically to a certain folder in the library?
View 3 RepliesFirst off I downloaded the picture and bitmaps for my movie clip class online and it is now part of my library as type movie clip. Then from the library I was allowed to drag it into the stage then name an instance that I could use in my as3 code. This movie clip has some animation, so when the flash is running, the graphic would be "walking" the whole time for example. This class is called "Player"
Then I realized I wanted to encapsulate more of the code in as3, and to do that I wanted to add some methods and variables to this Player class.
I right-clicked the graphic in my stage and I found "edit class". It then brings up a completely empty class definition, strangely named "script1", not even properly named as the class itself.
When I edited it and named it properly and re-compiled, it looks like I basically just re-did a brand new class from scratch as my graphics were completely gone.
At the very least I would expect the Player class to have some linking or loading of my graphic, the starting x/y coordinates (according to how I drag it on the stage), etc.
Why does it bring up a blank class document when I right-click my player? Shouldn't it bring up the code that makes "player" work as I see in the flash? How am i supposed to "append" methods to the already existing class.
I'm doing an app for the next st valentin's day and I'm using the Facebook API. The idea is that the user will be able to take a picture with it's own webcam and then edit that photo for to send it to a friend from facebook. But I can't find a tutorial about to edit an image (a bitmap) in the application. Can you tell me how can I do it? I want to edit the bitmap on the same app, like add a frame around the picture and maybe add a message too.

I have to edit one image in Photoshop, but when I right click on it and choose Edit with -Photoshop, an error message comes up saying "The file G:Web-02Sitefilm120902.gif does not exist, unable to launch external editor". I don't understand how Flash can list the image and display the image when I click on it, yet it doesn't exist. I tried to copy the image and paste it in photoshop but it only pastes a very low resolution version of it. What do I do?
View 4 RepliesI got four buttons that pull up images in a slide show. I want the fourth button to first pull the image in place and THEN shut down the movie clip. I thought this would be easy, but no. Unfortunately I canīt attach the fla-file on this forum. You could take a look at this:

It works in a sense. The movie falls into place when I click the button and the movie quits when I move the cursor. But it also means you might shut down the slide show involuntary when you move the cursor going for any of the other buttons. What can I do? I could point out that I'm not working with any frames here.
new to flash, using windows vista 64 bit and cs4. I would like to take flv movie clips and edit them to use in flash. Is there a program in cs4 I can do that with? or should I use something else.
basically what I am looking to do is simply edit out a few seconds that I would like to use from a 3 minute video,
I created a movie clip which plays ok. But when it ends there is a slight jump, if you will, when it goes back to frame 1 to begin playing again. Does anyone know how to make the transition unnoticeable from the last frame of a movie clip to the first frame of a movie clip?
View 4 RepliesI am in the middle of creating a website using Flash CS5. I opened up my .Fla file one day to continue my work but I am no unable to access buttons and movie clips. When creating movie clips or buttons I am unable to get inside them, when I hover my mouse over them there is a white hand icon which never used to be there it was always just a normal mouse icon. I double click to enter inside the buttons/movie clips but nothing happens. This happens to existing movie clips and buttons on the page and even when I create new ones. I really don't wanna have to start this website again.
View 1 RepliesCS3 Flash - Complete newbie to Flash and I'm trying to change an existing flash piece.It consists of 4 different text statements that appear on a Black background - the first appears and stays on-screen for 10 secs, then it starts to blur and fade away in about a sec, and then the next statement appears, etc, etc., and the whole lot loops.The 4 statements appear as Video Clips (Symbols?) in the library.I need to add a new statement, which means there will be 5 statements. I duplicated one of the library items and renamed it, which seems to have worked fine... but I cannot then work out how I insert that video clip into the Timeline and still have the same visual effects and timing as the existing ones? I can insert a blank frame, but then I can only drop the new video clip text onto that one frame.I've tried copying and pasting a whole set of frames, and then go in and change the text. Which I thought had worked, but then discovered that it also changed the original frames.... now understand that's because they are just instances and any change will affect the master Video Clip!
So can anyone advise if I can insert my newly added and renamed video clip into the timeframe and create the same effect as the others?Please keep any advice as idiot-proof as possible as this is my first venture into Flash... not finding it as intuitive as I hoped, spent 6hrs to date just trying trial and error without any real success.
I am making a web site in flash in which I have multiple movie clips.I have mc_buttonMenu on the main timeline.Inside of mc_buttonMenu, I have 3 buttons that are all button symbols.From the main timeline, I have a movie clip called mc_allPages.In this movie clip, I have a few layers.I have the content layer.This layer controls how my pages display.I have another layer called labels.I labeled frames 1 to 10 as 'home' and layers 11 to 20 as 'contactUs'.I have another layer in mc_allPages called actions.I put a stop(); on frame 10 and frame 20 on this layer.I want to be able to control the movie clip mc_allPages from within the movie clip mc_buttonMenu.I put some action script in various places, but it never worked.I tried this action script:

I tried placing that code on the main timeline, inside mc_allPages, inside mc_buttonMenu and split up into both buttons appropriately for btn_home and btn_contactUs.Sometimes the animation would stop on frame 10 and sometimes it would just play through to frame 20 and ignore the stop(); I put on frame 10 inside the mc_allPages movie clip.However, whenever I pressed the button ( btn_contactUs ), it never went to the frame labeled "contactUs" in the allPages movie clip.
I'm making a room escape game and I've run into a problem. When an item gets added to the inventory, I'd like the user to be able to click on the item to affect another object (e.g. clicking screwdriver hides screws and displays other image) however when I add the code to the item, if the item is clicked and it's nowhere near the object it affects, the image pops up and it looks really stupid.
So what I'd like to be able to do, possibly using if and else statements or whatever's easiest, is to only have the inventory item be clickable if the movie clip of the object is affects is visible on the stage.
I'm trying to create a movie clip on my my main timeline that has a movie clip button within it that pops up a box in the middle of the site that contains text and links. On Frame 1 I have the Up state, frame 2 the roll over state, and frame 3 my Down State (where Box appears).

I am creating a Movie Clip player interface. You can click on a thumbnail and load an external SWF. At the end of that movie clip, I would like to load another SWF, it's just a logo animation filler that plays until the next thumbnail is clicked.

I have made a number of Flash banners and I save them and everything is good but when I open them, some of the movie clips have reverted to a previous state. So I need to resize and redo thsoe movieclips. I make one banner and then save as new file and resize it. It is really annoying.. I am on P.C. and have all the current updates installed.
View 5 RepliesI have an ActionScript 2.0 project with a very simple timeline Alpha Tween ("Classic tween" in CS4) of a movie clip. I need to reposition the movie clip dynamically when the movie is launched, before the Tween is executed (as in "x_mc._x = 100;").
I found out that after changing the clip position the Alpha Tween as well as the Alpha final value are totally ingored. The clip is shown in the updated position but remains throughout in the Alpha setting of the first keyframe (even when it reaches the last keyframe which has a different Alpha setting). I verified that the Tween itself is executed by placing Trace statements at both keyframes. If I remove the repositioning statement, the Alpha Tween works fine (but of course in the original position which is wrong)

I am trying to finish creating a mouse based slider and want to dynamically create movieclip boxes inside one master movieclip. This is so I can slide the master MC left and right. Also, I want to add an image to each box. I'm getting closer but need some serious expert guidance. Right now, I can't figure out how to attach the image to the boxes.
All of the dynamic stuff happens in a for loop, and when each image is loaded, it fires the Event Listener to a function to attach it. But being outside that foor loop, the new function can't reference the objects.[code]...

I'm trying to make a zoom in and out effect, on images in a movieclip, using the mouse wheel. But, there is another mouse event that scrolls through the frames of the movie clip. I need it to stay zoomed in, and out respectively, when you scroll to the next frame.

EDIT: When I traced "testimage._width", it returned 0. But when I traced "testimage._x", it returned 50 as it should.
I'm trying to resize an image loaded in a movie clip, so that any image I load will always fit correctly in my movie.The script is pretty simple, it reads an xml file where they should be 6 records. Loads the image in the Thumb attribute in on of the 6 containers eg. _root.screen.Event1

I'm trying to display an image in a movie clip where the location of the image is derived from an xml document. I'm creating a menu from XML nodes and when the user selects that menu item a separate movie clip is updated with the XML information which corresponds to the menu items nodevalue. In my xml i have an image location defined and I want this to happen... when the user selects the menu item the node value for the image location dynamically loads the image into the movie clip.

I have saved my pictures in a folder (i.e. /images/) and linked the file name to a mysql database (i.e. test.png) I can make a php file that makes the links to the images

seems a little complicated for replacing an image in a movieclip with something else. It seems like a hack actually. Is it really so hard to switch a png (maybe of a different size) in a movieclip with something else? It also appears the livedocs at this time, are down. If it gets any harder I might switch to silverlight if it's not based off hack(ECMA)script
