There used to be a way, in AS 2 to put the FLVPlayback component on frame 2, a poster frame JPG on frame 1 and some actionscript in frame one sayingwhen the user clicks on the JPG, Play.This would move the timeline playhead to the FLV, hide the JPG, play the video - very simple.NOW - after not touching Flash (v11.5 Mac) for a year - I need to do the same thing in AS3.

Im building application where users can upload flv's with the fileReference. When a user press upload the flv is uploaded into a folder and the path stored into the database.
When the user clicks on an other page, he can see a list with all the uploaded movies. But I want to create custom control for the movie so the user can click one to play.
How can I add a 'poster'from the first or a random frame from the FLV?
( There is no option to create a png for each file because when the app is online user can pick there own FLVs to upload. )
I'm a complete newbie to actionscript and don't really have a clue. However by following an online tutorial in Flash 8 I managed to create a custom FLV player you can see it here [url]... I want to create a poster frame similar to YouTube so that the user clicks to start the video, however I only found how to do this using actionscript 3.0 not 2.0 which I programmed my player in.
View 9 RepliesI´m using a trial version of Fl Professional CS5 and I´m new to it. I am trying to create a poster frame for my video to upload but when I try to select the scene by using the preview parameter it is not editable and neither is cuePoints. I am referring to the component parameters panel. The default says "none". I can tick/untick the other options - autoplay, isLive etc. I´ve been playing around with it for hours without any luck.
Also, is there a way that I can add a "view in full screen" option to the video I want to upload?
I just spent 2 hours scouring the web for the answer. All I'm seeing is a whole lot of "how do you do it" and a lot of "do a google search for it'. I found a tutorial for CS4 that looked promising yet when I tried it in CS5 the damned Preview attribute (or whatever) just sits there looking at me. You're supposed to be able to click on it and choose a frame. I click and double click and nothing happens.

The video imported and plays fine with the provided skins. However I want to display the video online with the same Play control as many YouTube videos - a Play button shown in the center of the video screen area. Right now I have the video player controls that I selected during import and they are at the bottom. These skin controls work but I'd like to let the user just click on the screen to start the playback.

2. For the life of me I can't figure out how to make text (or a button if need be) link to a specific flash frame. If you look on the site, there are a couple of spots under "What We Do" that I need clickable to take them to the Contact Us page.
I know how to make a video (instanced as showreel) stop when clicking on a button that that navigates to another section/frame, since otherwise I would still listen to that video while not visible. The problem is when I'm in another frame that doesn't have that video, when clicking on the menu to go to whichever other frame, it looks for that it to stop if it's playing and it and doesn't find it, and so there's an error.
How can solve this? Maybe I should put an order saying something like if there exists a video in that frame instanced as sowreel, stop it, otherwise don't do anything as there is nothing to be stopped. Or assign the order to the frame (which is called motion), but I don't know how to do that, can someone help? The code I have is:

I suppose the title says it all. I can load an external video file (FLV) and I can have it play. I also have the custom buttons made to control the clip. The only thing I have left to do is to have the main timeline move onto frame 2 once the external video reaches its end. I am using actionscript 3 and flash cs 5.5.

I have about 2 minutes of real life footage.
I need to put this in a "flash container" and make it advance frame by frame every time the UP key is pressed.
The faster the UP key is pressed, the faster the film should advance.
Accelleration and decelleration should seem "natural" (not bumpy and sudden).

When I test the movie and click the button, the frames don't seem to change.
I have created a racing game and over all i got 3 frames and about 10 main layers.. i have tried so many scripts now and they're not working .The game begins on frame 2 while the main menu is on frame 1.Not sure if it matters but i have the menu copied on all the frame 1's of all the layers...
View 4 RepliesI have an flv video file that I've imported into Flash CS5 project as an embedded movie, because graphic and movie clip both produced still images. I want to embed the final product onto my website, and have the video autostart in the beginning, play all the way through, and then go back to frame 40 or so and loop continuosly from there. I've tried selecting the final frame and applying the instancename.gotoandplay (40); code but it isn't working. I read that this only works on keyframes, so I tried making the final frame a keyframe but because it is an flv file for some reason it isn't allowing me to do that.
View 2 RepliesI am a student and I use CS4 on a Mac on one of the schools computers. One of the animation projects I am working I need to animate a music video. To do this I calculated out the BPM of the song and set the frame rate at 23.3 FPS so that I would have 20 Frames between beats. Then to have a visual representation of the timing I set a layer that has a red dot blink for 2 frames every 20 frames starting on the first beat.
With it set up like this and I run the animation in Flash it keeps time correctly and works. However, when I test the video the time is off. I tried changing the frame rate to 60fps as an arbitrary number to see if adjusting the frame rate had any affect of the test file but when I tested the video at 60fps it did not run any faster than before. I exported the video to a SWF and MOV file but it was still off.
I have a magazine of 40 frame. each frame is a different page. in one page (frame) i have imported an flv video from a url. but when i publish it and go to the next frame the video keeps playing, even if im not seeing it.

View 16 RepliesI need code that makes a button gotoAndPlay (211) which is a movie in an FLVPlayer that I "imported" as an external file that will play as a progressive file, and then, when that movie clip has finished playing, I need code to make it go back to frame 210, which has the menu with all the buttons on it that will launch other documents and movies on 212 and 213. The big problem is getting Flash to know to go back to my menu page when the video stops playing...All in ActionScript 3. View 9 RepliesJust like the subject states, I am indeed having frame rate problems importing video to Flash CS3. When I export a video from Premiere with the settings: 1280x720frame rate of 23.976using H264 or Animation (basically every codec produces the same results),"embed video on SWF and play in timeline" When I do this the file exports fine. Playing it in Quicktime works fine and the audio syncs up no problem. But when I import it into Flash using the same settings, for some reason the movie clip is now too fast in that the video does not match the audio and seems to be at more like 12 fps now (just a guestimate). The action of the video is over long before the audio even comes in.I have verified that the frame rate is correct in Flash so it's not that.
I've done this literally hundreds of times in the past and suddenly it does not work and I can not figure out why. I'm not even really using video, but actually artwork that I am putting together as an animatic for an animated piece so the video could not have been imported incorrectly or digitized wrong either.

View 3 RepliesI have a problem with my slideshow script. I have embedding a flash video file into my website with this slideshow called monoslideshow, and everything seems to work perfectly. Trouble is, when I am clicking on another menu button that should jump to another frame, it still keeps playing the video and sound while displaying the new menu data.So I will probably need some code that stops the video instantly, when another menu button is clicked. But how do I write it and where do I put it?

I'm fine with on(release) to take to a new frame etc but this is my situation.
Imagine a Windows PC. You click the Start Button, it makes the start menu appear, no matter what folder/window/software you have open. Now liken it to a flash movie. Interactive, to make a button to make a set of graphics appear in a set place on the frame.
I was wondering if there is a way for a button on the main timeline that when pressed will go to the next frame in an embedded swf. The embedded swf is inside a movieclip with the instance name "gallery" so I thought the following code would work
