Professional :: Modify Scrollbar Component To Non-scaling Graphic Thumb And Track?

I'm wondering if you can take the stock Flash CS5 scrollbar component and modify it to use a graphics for the thumb and track. I see that you can modify the art of the component, but it seems to have the 9 slice thing going on so it scales nicely... but doesn't work right with a graphic. What I need is to have a scrole like that attached photo.
I have used a skin for scrollbar thumb whose PNG image size is 14x21 but which will be scaled vertically between its present height and extended height 498px. I have been trying to understand the 9 slice scaling parameters to assign to the thumb image so that it does not distort but I'm unable to achieve that. The CSS which has come closest to least distortion is follwing (though UI view of this is also not acceptable) is this:
Though the thumb looks fine with height 498px but the three horizontal lines in middle of the thumb.PNG become rectangles. I tried many combinations with these parameters and read a couple of blogs etc but cant get to the solution.
I try to modify ncmanager file. (I want add parameter when connect method is called). I've edited this file but nothing happens in my application. After two hours of headacke, I delete NCManager (I've made a copy on my USB key).I try to place a FLVPlayback on my scene : no problem ! I can place it, but it does'nt work as I want.So I discover that even I try to change NCManager, this file isn't read.I need help to understand what I must do when I modify these file. Should I have to put it somewhere ? must I compile them and how ?
I tryed to create a movieclip that simulates the windows' windows, lets say it... this is my swf: [url]....at first look, it seems to work right. Its draggable and scalable just like a windows os frame. But so far so good, try to move the horizontal scrollbar thumb till it reaches its limit. Then scale the movieclip.
I would like to modify the scrollbar (vertical) of the tilelist component so that there is some space between the top of the scrollbar and the top of the tilelist. Currently, the scrollbar extends the the top and bottom edges of the tilelist. I would like to add a graphic above the scrollbar but below the top of the tilelist. I can't seem to figure out how to do this. I'm working 100% in AS 3 within Flex Builder.

I have basic shapes created using flex primitives classes like ellipse rectangle etc. Each of these are added into a graphic object.Now i am in search of a mechanism to select it and scale it (as in Photoshop Transform -dragable corners and edges, image gets scaled on dragging)
I'm working on a scrolling dynamic text box that uses text loaded from an external file. I cannot seem to get the scrolling to work properly though. The text is loading correctly, but when I drag the scroller, the text box moves in exactly the same fashion as the scroller (not in opposite directions and at a 1:1 ratio). However, I copied the actionscript from another file of mine where the code works, so I kept piddling around.
I found that if I drop a rectangle or any image/graphic into the movieclip along with the text box, then it scrolls perfectly. The problem appears to be with the actionscript not recognizing the length of the text, even though it all appears to be loading. Resizing the text box manually doesn't change anything. I can see a half line of text where the mask ends, leading me to believe the rest of the text is there, and when I drop a rectangle graphic in, then I can see text that I otherwise can't scroll to. How can I make the scrollbar function with only the text box within the movieclip? I unfortunately cannot upload the FLA, because its a professional project and I'm not allowed to post the files at the moment, but I'll copy and paste my the scrolling portion of my actionscript here:
I am attempting to reskin the AS3 Slider component to have arelatively "tall" draggable thumb graphic. However, the sliderthumb always seems to be forcibly scaled down to 13x13 regardlessof the size of the graphic. I'm currently using the drag-and-dropcomponent on workspace method, and double-clicked the livepreviewto change the skin pieces.I've tried resizing the contents of the SliderThumb_*Skin(upSkin, downSkin, ...) symbols, the Slider component itself on thestage, and even the placeholders on the double-click skin organizersheet. The height of the thumb object is not directly accessible(seems to be private). The translated position of the 13x13 thumbrelative to the symbol center is preserved correctly... but thesize seems to be stuck at 13x13.
Is there a workaround for this? I've searched and found a fewFlex solutions having to do with overriding a measure() method orextending the class to hard-code a different height, but none ofthe corresponding classes (e.g. one site recommended extendingmx.controls.sliderClasses.SliderThumb) seem to be accessible withinthe Flash AS3 implementation of the components.

(code below)I want it so that whenever I put the cursor on the scollbar to move it that the graphical information under the scrollbar comes on (either reveal or opacity to 100%). At the moment the little thumbnails under the scrollbar are on all the time and area bit of a distraction (they are meant to assist in the use of the scrollbar by minimising searching behaviour).[code]

Using a bunch of the tutorials on this great site, I've been teaching myself AS, and inparticular the XML parse, etc. with the loop commands to load an ideterminate number of images, etc. attributed in an XML file.I've got the attached code to work before - and it works well here too, loading all the thumbnails in their correct location, and as per the XML file. BUT now it's part of this page, the 'current_thumb' seems stuck on the last thumbnail, and a rollOver of any thumbnail will cause only the last one to action. In addition, when I put the trace command in on the onRollOut function (trace(current_thumb_mc) I get "_level0.menu_mc.item3_mc" no matter which of the four tumbnails I rollOver.

I'm trying to modify the text of a Label component that I already placed on the stage in as3. I'm having trouble getting the text to change though, it just stays the same based on the initial text I typed in. I'd like to eventually have the label contents change dynamically. When I compile the swf, the two labels have the original value I gave them when I put them on the stage, not the startDate and endDate values.

it was decided to deploy the app on thumb drives. Other than creating the flash exe which I have done using flash cs4 are there any better tools available that does not include the File, View, Control, Help that I see in the cs4 flash created exes?
Ive used the excellent tutorial to create a scrolling thumb panel ([URL]) It works brilliantly and I have movie thumbs linking to a flash player. It all works fine, what change the scrolling. At current it scrolls up and down according to where I have set the 'line', I would like it to scroll up and down near the top and the bottom, rather than all the time (effectively creating a dead zone in the middle). I cant figure out how to change the code to get this to behave as required.
i have made some web pages with flash and my problem is that i want to show a thumb picture in facebook wall when i post there my website in the news tab.

I'm using the textArea component, but i want to scale it to the size of the browser window. The problem is it scale the content(xml+css) and the scrollbar, and i want to just change the size. I've also tried to attach the Component and then setting the size, but that give the same problem.
I have custom flex component inherited from UIComponent (compiled, no source code access). It has fixed width-to-height proportions and it's scalable. If I set its width and height to 100%, it's trying to fit parent's size, but it keeps width-to-height proportion, so if it's proportion does not equal parent's proportion, there can appear empty space near this component when resizing parent.
What I need, is to fit my component completely to parent's size. Is there any nice way to do this? I could listen to parent's resize event, and play with component's scaleX and scaleY
I'm trying to attach a scroll bar to a loader component and it's not working. I don't want to use the scrollpane because its shows the outline around the box. Is it possible to get a UIscrollbar attached to a loader component?
Trouble with my DataGrid component (aDg), i want to tell it to got a fixed height, and then have a scrollbar when the lines into the Datagrid are biger than its height, but with this code, it doesn't work, the grid continues to get bigger without scrollbar :

I've been using a scrollbar/scrollpane component to create scrollable timelines for use in court cases. However these components interfere with printing, I imagine because the content needs to be attached from the library and so the printJob function seems not to see the scrolling content.
I created a dynamic text box that links to a xml text document. I've also added the Scrollbar component to the text box. It scrolls fine in preview mode...but once I upload the file, the scroll bar becomes disabled.
