The editor is a read/save form that initially loads the parameters into it's form fields, and then overwrites the .txt file when the user hits submit. Professional :: Preloading An HTML / Flash Page On PREVIOUS Page
Jul 1, 2010I have a site where all the pages have a common SWF embedded at the top (Nav and banner), but the rest of the page is HTML.Everything is working fine, but I'm finding the 'independence' between the HTML and Flash is making for some sloppy transitions from page to page.I was expecting the SWF to be delayed, at least for the first page visit(and I have a preload routine inside the swf to make it's delay and appearance a bit more visually pleasant), but was surprised to sometimes find the SWF appearing and playing while the HTML content was delayed (resulting in a SWF floating in black).What I'm wondering is if there's a way I can do some sort of preload on my index page.BUT, not the standard one that I'm sure everyone would suggest (like the javascript image 'preload', or the newer 'css visibility' preload trick). The problem with the standard one is that it doesn't check to see if everything is loaded.What I'm after is a routine on my index page that invisibly loads some of the elements from my inner pages (common swf, maybe some of the images) and WAITS until it's done before moving to the inner pages (displaying the company logo and/or a load status in the meantime).Many people would suggest a preloader inside the common SWF on my inner pages (which I have), but the problem with that on its own is that it doesn't stop the HTML from displaying.
I'm trying to figure out a way to do a preloader (like those in a SWF, which loops until everything is loaded) that controls both the SWF AND the HTML.Recently, I found that you can use one swf to preload another, which would be a potential solution, as I could make an SWF on the index page whose sole purpose is to load (invisibly) the common SWF, displaying the load status and then loading an inner html page once it's done.Problem is, I have bee having trouble finding the coding for that, as most searches for preloaders end up being about standard preloaders, where it's monitoring the same SWF that the code is on, as opposed to controlling a second, external SWF.Can someone point me to or provide me with the proper coding/procedure for a preloader that controlls a second external swf or give me a better solution?

Mar 7, 2012I am trying to post a "tweet" to my twitter using Flex (using the Flex 3.5 SDK and Flex Builder 4 if that makes any difference). On an mxml file I've created a button simply to make it easy to call an AS3 function, and in the function, I'm making a URL request. Obviously I'm doing something wrong, because my tweet ain't posting. I got these variables in the curl request provided by Twitter themselves, which actually worked. My guess is that I'm formatting something incorrectly, but I don't know what that is. Here is the code I'm using:

Dec 30, 2004I got to create a web site for school. And I'm going to create a little flash, where someone posts sth very small and the last thing posted is shown in flash, and there is a form where you write and submit.And it should save the stuff posted in a text and people should be able to look at it.Actually, I have "no" idea where to start or what to do. May 22, 2009I have a flash game that asks the user to enter his username & password then he can start playing the game. After that the score gets saved to MySQL next to his username & password. The final step is to display his scores in the flash game. Everything works fine except for the last step which is calling back the scores from MySQL to the flash game.
I call the scores from MySQL using PHP file which sends the data to flash through XML. I can call the data from MySQL & display it in flash BUT I should enter a specific user name manually in the PHP file. The problem is that I can't make the flash game display the scores of the logged in user. for example: User A signs-in, plays the game, his/her score gets saved & then the problem occurs calling back his/her scores to the flash. In order to display User A scores in the Flash , I should replace the $username variable in the PHP file with "User A" so the scores can be displayed in the Flash file.

The architecture I used is as follows:I have a menu/main page which loads the swf files of other flash pages.I have a particular flash chatroom page which is loaded by the main page that I would like to be able to link an web address (example url...) directly too that particular sub flash page ...rather than going to the main.swf which is what the original web address uses.
Technically I know I could link a web address to the chatroom.swf file, but then it would estetically look incomplete since the theme/design of the website is in the main.swf which calls the chatroom.swf.Thus my question is: is there a way to assign the web address to the chatroom.swf inside the main.swf.I would like to go directly to the chatroom without clicking chatroom on the main.swf menu.

Nov 26, 2010I'm planning to add a page to my site that would have sample music from a variety of artists. There would be several sentances about the musician, then a free Flash mp3 player I'm using. I'm planning at least a dozen of these on the page. I didn't anticipate any problems, but a page where I had done something similar suddenly stopped working. Nothing I've tried will fix it. Jun 3, 2011I have created a flash pro cs5 movie with several key frames in and as the movie plays, it moves onto the next keyframe - each keyframe uses the same template but with a different picture in each. Also each keyframe has buttons in of which are all identical as well and stay in the same place as the movie plays.
As the movie plays and the picture in each keyframe changes I want each one to fade out then in to the next picture. I can see that you can do this in Flash Catalyst but can this be done in Flash Pro? I can not see how I can import the swf file into catalyst then fade each of the pictures which is tied up in a single swf file?
