Dec 30, 2009For some strange reason the swf that i have embeded into my 'banner' div is not appearing in the browser.For the life of me I cannot figure out why?

Xml :: Flash - Hide Element From Appearing In Browser?
May 9, 2010I have a website which I am setting up. However, I want the first page (Home) not to have any sub menu. When I change the value of true to false all the other pages where I want the drop down to appear also disappear.I want other pages to have sub menu but not the home page. I have tried to change the xml path etc, but nothing seems to wor am new to xml and finding this very challenging.I have uploaded the config.xml and the layout xml's. I have also placed the index.htm and js script therelso me understand from where it is reading the config.xml.UPDATE:I checked the SWF and yes the it is pointing to the config file. What I still dont understand is that how can i remove the sub-menu from home while keeping it for other pages.

Jul 30, 2008I'm running XP and have installed 6 .otf fonts, from the Avenir family. Flash MX 2004 and Flash 8 don't see all but the Light and Roman versions of the font (they are the only ones that appear in the font menu). Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop display all the fonts, however.
An associate suggested that sometimes Flash doesn't like the names to be non-standard; in other words, it doesn't like "Heavy", but prefers "Bold", etc. This seems to support the fonts not being displayed in the Flash font menu, as they are AvenirLTStd-Heavy.otf, AvenirLTStd-HeavyOblique.otf, AvenirLTStd-LightOblique.otf and AvenirLTStd-Oblique.otf. The only two being displayed in the font menu are AvenirLTStd-Roman.otf and AvenirLTStd-Light.otf ("Roman" and "Light" are pretty traditional names).
I've tried renaming the fonts to "Bold" and "italic", etc., but Windows still sees the original names. I've tried opening the fonts in Notepad and changing all references (for example, all "Heavy" to "bold"), but saving the font file (even if I add and remove a space) makes it unreadable as a font (security issues, I think). One reason I think it's a naming issue, is I did try renaming Heavy to Roman, and installed it, and Flash saw it as Roman, but it had the Heavy characteristic. This work-around doesn't work, however, as I need Roman, too (and renaming it Roman2 doesn't work). Is there any solution for this? I need access to all of the Avenir font family, as it's for a branded project that uses Avenir specifically. Oh, and last but not least, I have the fonts installed on my Mac, and Flash 8 and CS3 both see all the fonts, no problem.

May 14, 2011I've made a movie which has symbols waiting to come onto my stage. When I watch it, all seems to be fine until I run a test. A random symbol sits in the top left corner not moving which isn't there when I watch it.
I've looked through all the layers and none of them are duplicated. When i do a test, this following message appears:WARNING: Multiple 3D objects on the same frame have the same instance name. 3D instance names must be unique. All but one of the instances will be renamed during export.
Professional :: Custom Text Not Appearing On Stage If Not Preloaded
Jul 7, 2011I've added text to the stage and if I test it out using ctrl+enter, it does not show up. If the swf "loads"/"simulate load" then the text shows up, but not in the correct font.This is the error when the swf is not preloaded:VerifyError: Error #1014: Class flashx.textLayoutcontainer::Container Controller could not be found.at flash.display::MovieClip/nextFrame()at spot_fla::MainTimeline/l()I've also recently added an AS3(CS5) preloader which is when this started. The library mc items have been set to export in frame 2 but the font doesn't show up. The font has been embedded as well but linking/unlinking it does nothing. The AS3 preloader is a simple script that a lot of tutorials online use.The textfield is located in frame 2 of the timeline and is not referenced in AS. However it is inside of a mc that has a mouse listener on it(mc).

Jan 12, 2010I have a swf that uses actionscript 3.0 to drag and drop images, activate buttons that run movie clips and manage the display list. It runs flawlessly when I execute it directly (i.e. double-click the swf), but I want to publish it on the web -- so I used File -> Publish to create the necessary html file, but when I run it in a browser (I've only tried IE) the initial screen looks perfect, but none of the buttons and drag and drop features work. Also,when I run the swf using File -> Publish Preview, it fails exactly the same way if I choose HTML, but works perfectly if I choose Flash.I created a pared-down version of the fla (see the code below) to try to isolate the problem, and the behavior is exacly the same.I'm attaching the swf and html files for the pared-down version.

I know this is a common problem, but I couldn't quit figure out the best way to go about fixing it. I'd like to just add some actionscript to the swf if possible.

Feb 10, 2010I used the publish feature of flash but it does not seem to center the SWF in the browser. Why is there a centering feature on the publish settings under HTML tab if it does not center the SWF? It only works if you set Dimensions to Percent but that exposes the area beyond the stage and i don't want it to be seen. In addition that causes some movieclips to be improperly positioned. The Flash Alignment should have been disabled if the Dimensions is not set to Percent. Perhaps a simple script that centers my swf file in a browser..

Professional :: Not Launching In New Browser Window?
May 18, 2010I have setup a Flash viewer in a HTML Div container. In the Flash I have put a button which, when clicked, launches a new browser window with another site I've done to appear in. When I test this in Flash its working fine and launches the new window as it should. But when I go into Dreamweaver where I have placed the Swf. in the Div container, I test it locally in a Firefox browser window. The viewer appears and it works correctly, but when I click the button to launch the new browser window it just opens a window with an error msg 'unable to connect, etc'.

1. How do I get it centered both vertical & horizontal?
2. How do I edit the placement position in design mode without having to go into code?

Professional :: Swf File Not Playing In Browser?
Feb 22, 2011I have a problem with a swf file which will not play in web browser.It played fine until I updated my site.I tried typing the absolute path to the swf file in the browser address bar and found it straight away. When I clicked on it the screen stayed blank.I checked the path to the file and the flv file was relative to the document and not the site.
swf plays fine in flash player, flash, and locally on dreamweaver.I moved the swf up the file tree and changed the links accordingly but still would not play.I also tried saving it as a new swf from flash, but that doesn't play either.I added another swf to the containing folder and that played fine in the browser.When I open the fla file in flash it only shows a flv playback movie, not the elements, I think this is because it was created in after effects.Here is the link to the containing folder, the swf file is Home_page_movie_V2.swf

Apr 11, 2011I have a campus map at The swf is very tall and you have to scroll down to get to some navigational buttons at the bottom which load swf of other campus maps into the top left corner of the parent.The problem is...even though the movies load without a problem, the browser is still scrolled down to the bottom of the page and the user has to scroll back up to see the maps.

I get this is down to the cache and i have tried several code snippets to correct this but nothing seems to make a difference.Is there anything that i can do with the flash code to force the browsers to reload the the movie each time they visit?

May 5, 2011Had FF4.0.12 then your forum told me to try FF3.6.17. Just made problems worse. Downloaded updates 5 days ago to Adobe and Firefox and things went haywire. Computer hangs-must do hard reboot. Could not maneuver on Facebook-hangs, cursor hangs, kicked out of games. Now cannot get into any of my games. I need to know if they are going to work together. Is there something I need to do? Another plugin I should be using?
