What I have is an "expandable" navbar swf. The swf expands over the page content, so I have set the swf's "wmode" to "transparent" (z-index is also set so the swf is above page content, in case that matters).Everything looks great, but I cannot click any of the links on the page below the navbar swf. I can see them, but I can't click them.
View 6 RepliesI have been given the task of updating my company's website, which is written in ASP and has a menu in Flash. I am not experienced in neither technology so maybe you can help me a little bit.We have a menu in flash and just received a new one from an artist. They are pretty similar but the new one brings some new buttons. So far what I did was simply change the .fla and .swf files from my web project to the new ones. The new menu is working, but the buttons and links are messed up. For example, our website main page is called Default.aspx. In the old menu, when you clicked in 'Home' it would take you to Default.aspx. In the new one though, it tries to take you to 'index.aspx', which doesn't exist. This makes me think that the mapping of the links in the menu is something that is part of the Flash code. Am I right about this?
Now, if I am right and I need to modify the flash files to create the correct links, how the heck do I do that? Notepad++ doesn't read the .fla well. What is the best free tool that will allow me to modify a file and compile it into a .swf? I know Adobe Flash would work, but we don't want to pay anything.
I'm trying to get my flash movie to pop out of the box, so I have an opaque background of 500 x 400, but the stage size (the total overall size) is 1000 x 800. Then I use a DIV tag to place the flash movie over the rest of my page, making it seem like the flash movie is only 500 x 400 but some items can pop out to anywhere inside the 1000 x 800. Up to here it works fine, but the problem is you can't click the HTML links that are beneath the transparent part of the flash movie. Is there a way to make the links clickable?

My issue isthat if I add a large element, like a border around the edge of thestage, this covers up all the other items so that clicking on themis not possible. I can see them, but when I click, the large itemgets the event, even though visually, it is transparent. There arethings I could do if I was doing all the development of thegraphics in the IDE, but these items load at runtime, so it has towork with bitmap

All I'm trying to do is allow the drawing to be dragged around the screen, but I don't want it to be clickable in the transparent areas where the green background shows through.
how to eliminate the pale cast that the transparent areas are making? The background to the drawing shows totally transparent in Photoshop, but the boundaries of the movie are visible because the supposedly transparent areas of the movie are slightly masking the background.
is there any solution available??

I have objects that the user can click&drag. They're PNGs, mainly rectangular, no problem till here.But I then had to put an L-shaped object (a PNG with a lot of transparency), so i've made a movieclip with an shape with the same L shape than the png, and use it as its hitArea:

This works PERFECT, the mouse events respond as expected, and I can click on objects that are below/above the transparent area of the png/object.All objects are inside a Sprite called playgroundLayer1. The issue comes when I take the L-shaped object and put it on another Sprite (playgroundLayer2), that is above the playgroundLayer1.I this case, I can click&drag on the L, but no object below the transparent area of the L receives mouse events.
Ive noticed a lot of flash websites have user defined items/links added to the default flash right click settings menu. In other words when we right click on such flash websites it shows links to the designers home page or associated site etc.

View 1 RepliesI'm trying to get the depths of all the blocks to be at the correct levels at the correct times so that the 3d effect is maintained. I've tried many things, but have had little success. All the instances of the blocks are stored in an array, but since it's adding them in accordance with when they're added to the stage, it doesn't help me locate them to swap depths. If not I know theres is the load feature where I can load text from a text file. With the html text box editing, Can i link that to the text file?. As in when you edit the text box with html could i have the textbox's instance name equal to the text file? Clarification: I have two text boxes in my flash file.One has current products. And the other is the description of the product they select. I would like a way to edit and change the products in the first text box without having to keep using the FLA file. Which is why i am using this code

View 0 RepliesI'm programming the engine of a Point and Click Adventure in AS3 atm. and now i have following problem. I want to load a png as foreground which is partially transparent. Behind this Image are my Game Elements which should react to the onClick event. But this won't work. the transparent parts of the image are, well, transparent, but when you click on the element the onclick event is only triggered on the foreground even if you click on the transparent parts. The Game Elements behind this transparent parts don't trigger the event. (When i remove the foreground the event is properly triggered on the game elements)
So is there a way to click "through" the transparent parts of the image?
I imported a video into flash and have a transparent photoshop layer to create an iPod skin. The video works fine, but I cannot get the "stage" to be transparent so that you do not see the flash background color behind the iPod skin.

I'm trying to draw PNGs onto BitmapData that is transparent.
I create my BitmapData like this (using ARGB for the color):
new BitmapData(width, height, true, 0x00000000);
And clean it by using the same ARGB value:
bitmapData.fillRect(bitmapData.rect, 0x00000000);
When I use copyPixels() to draw graphics onto the cleaned BitmapData, I get this result:
If I don't use ARGB for the BitmapData color, it works fine:
But I have to specify a solid fillColor, meaning I can't render what's behind the Bitmap.
How can I make my BitmapData transparent, but not have the above occur?

I am creating a map in flash cs4 with all the countries on it. I used photoshop for creating the map and separated countries. Now I imported all pngs in Flash and I want to give Mouse CLICK event and Mouse Hover on all pngs, but as the transparent pixels are overlapping the other states, it is getting difficult. So, I converted all pngs in movieclips and now then I broke up pngs. Now I want to delete all pixels having alpha 0 using eraser tool, as per the borders. And I have to do it manually for individual countries. So is there a way to remove transparent pixels from the bitmap data?

i created a flash slideshow with pictures of events and link each picture with its own event (ie. each pictures has its own links to the website). I created the fade in and fade out effect using the class motion tween. With the link, I created a layer with a button that has alpha= 0 (so the user don't see it) and then I used code snippet to make another layer with the action script "click to go to url."
When the slideshow goes to the last picture I made it fade out and the first picture of the slideshow would show up and then the slideshow would replay itself (by default?). My goal is to make a continuous slideshow.
When I tested the swf file, the first time it runs, everything is right. The urls and the pictures are in correct order. However when the slideshow replays itself automatically, I notice that the links are incorrect. In the first play, when I click the picture of the event it would open the url of that event.However when the sldieshow replays, clicking the pictures would only open the url of the first event picture. When I click on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc.pictures the browser opens only the link of the first picture of the slideshow.

I've got a PHP script that searches for links in a block of text and converts them to HTML values. The $message variable is then entered into my database using a simple INSERT. So far, so good. Then I have Flash parse the message using XML:

The problem, however, is that my links don't work. The rollover works from the CSS styling, but the links don't actually go anywhere. When I rollover the links, the hand cursor doesn't appear, and clicking only serves to change the color back to the non-hover value.
I have two png's that kind of look like paint brush strokes. they have some transparency in them that lets the stage colour bleed through a bit.
I am adding two of these images to the stage in AS 3. One adds quite fine - looks as expected. The second one however doesn't have any transparency other than around its edges. What i mean is it looks more like GIF than a PNG. Rough around the edges, no transparency "inside" the image itself (where there should be)
i have tried re-creating the image (yes it IS a PNG) which did nothing. I ensured the library item is not being treated as a JPEG. I also even tried externally calling the PNG to see if that made a difference. Unfortunately it did not.
why this second PNG doesn't seem to have a transparency set?
I'm writing some code in Flash MX 2004 and everything works fine except for the last button (4DSystemsProducts).According to the coding if none of the drop down buttons work it should go to products.php, but for some reason it goes to 4DSystemsProducts.php. All of the other menus are coded the same way and work fine, if I take out that button it works fine,or if I take out button 7 and switch 4DSystems to button 7 everything works.Here is the code to clear up this explanation. I am trying to have multiple links off site but have hit a brick wall. If I have the code listed below, it opens the second link as soon as you open the links page, If I have the"function onLinkClick (evt)", above btn6_btn I end up with the duplicate error message. Is there a way to have multiple link buttons on a page. I have played with this for hours.

Lets say i have a button on frame 1. And if you press it normal, you ll get to frame 2. But then if you click it on another way, you ll get to frame 3. How do i do that easy?! With another way i mean like shift click or ctrl click or is it an easier way?
