Flash :: Good AS3 Date Library?
Feb 2, 2012Point me to a robust and well documented Date library for AS3. Specifically, I'd like one that works (at least in principal) like the Java date formatter, so that you can pass in a string of a specific type and get back a date object that can then be easily translated to an alternate timezone, etc. Working with the native Date object is an incredible PITA for when one needs to do things like this... I'm hoping I won't have to re-invent this wheel from scratch.

Adobe :: Flash FLA File Size Becoming Huge For No Good Reason
Mar 31, 2012What is the reason for the enormass bloating of FLA file size, when many edits and saves are made to a FLA file, yet assets are not being added to the library? What is the best technique to keep FLA files smaller in size? (with the problem described below. I am not talking about published SWF files or asset management)Over many edits and many saves of my FLA files, they become 30 times the size on disk from where they start out. Example 750k can get as high as 34mb. In the past "save and compact" used to fill the role of reducing FLA file sizes but now that feature is gone.When I save as a CS4 file then back to CS5 the file becomes much smaller after it has become bloated, BUT I take a risk every time I do this that the file will become corrupted (I've had corruptions happen).I have read that files which were created in CS5 and are never in the format of CS4 don't have this problem, but I find that theory unlikely since I have tried to follow this rule to no success.
I have also read that every FLA file tracks its "history" of assets. So adding and removing assets to the library will sometimes cause bloating because old assets that are removed from the library remain in the FLA file. This seems bogus because there is no purpose to this, but could be an indication of a bug in Adobe Flash Professional CS5, and CS5.5.Personal details: the files I am editing contain personally created flash components, images, audio, many symbols (20+) but no embedded video.For me personally, this bloating is a problem because I'm dealing with hundreds of flash FLA files that should be about 1-4mb in size but are instead much larger. The overall effect is that I end up with gigabytes of files instead of hundreds of mbs.

In the second chapter it teaches you how to integrate the login for to another app.Basically I'm looking for a book that teaches you real working application rather than abstract ideas. Programming language I have in mind is Adobe Air/Flex, Visual Basic. Functions I have in mind should at least cover Drag and Drops, Integration to a web form (form entry) and customizable interfaces.The languages i had in mind isn't fix. If you know a programming platform that has little code or easy to learn but still be able to develop a cool application.

Apr 28, 2011I'm creating a video chat application, and no matter what combination of amera/Microphone/NetStream properties and functions I use, I cannot get high quality video/audio. I get occasional audio latency, pixelated video, occasional frozen video and the degree of each depends on the combination of properties/functions I set/call.Others such as TokBox, TinyChat, Chat Roulette, etc. have achieved great video/audio quality with FMS, what is the secret? At least point me in the right direction, because right now I'm not impressed with FMS ability to provide a good video/audio experience.

Mar 8, 2010I'm writing an Adobe AIR app using plain HTML which needs to upload photos to Facebook. I don't think Facebook's JavaScript/Connect library includes photo uploading functionality, but their ActionScript library does. However, I'm having trouble loading the ActionScript library into the HTML page.
Adobe's documentation describes the process of loading ActionScript libraries into HTML AIR apps, which I tried using the compiled Flash library available here (specifically, Facebook_library_with_AIRConnect_v3.4_flash.swc). So my page looks something like:

Is the compiled library file I used the wrong one (do I need a .swf instead of a .swc)?If so, do I need to create my own compiled library somehow from the ActionScript source?Is the namespace I'm using incorrect? (in addition to com.facebook.Facebook() I tried .Facebook(), .fb.Facebook(), .facebook.Facebook(), etc)Should I just give up and try to learn Flex instead?

ActionScript 3 :: Flash - OGG Sound Delayed (Adobe Alchemy Library)
Feb 6, 2012I wanted to make live drums play with keyboard shortcuts. The problem was that MP3 is not good enough in this case (encoders adds random silence at beginning of the sound) and also flash itself makes delay (I tried use already buffered file with play specified_start_point_in_miliseconds)). So my solution is OGG (this format is gapless). I use compiled swc file from Adobe Alchemy library and simple frontend for it. Everything works fine, OGG file is playing, but its still much delay - no matter if its lodeaded external or as embedded, and if its first or n time. How to make sound play fast equally to key press.

and there will be a link next to datagrid to get Pie chart based on the data displays in the data grid . The pie graph should display grouping by company and the count . I mean for the above example that should give with two pie items , one for GM showing the number of vehicles ( in this case 3 ) and Honda showing the number of vehicles ( in this case 1 ).
I thought of getting it from the database by querying and grouping it .But here the problem is after getting the data above in the datagrid user can able to filter at client end ( By year or model ) and can say get graph . This time that should only display the graph for the data visible in Datagrid .Grouping on database for every operation is becoming expensive. Since we have already data available at client end , is there any way to group it at client ..?
