Basically, I have a XML file similar to:
<Main><Event><Name>Blah</Name>
<Event><Name>Blah2</Name><Event>
<Name>Blah3</Name>

</Event></Event></Event></Main>
Yeah, to some extent it's poor design. But the idea I'm going for is that any Event has the potential to compromise of other Events and this idea kinda loops. How to do this?
For some reason, my XML code below is loading EVERYTHING in the XML file including the tags, unicode...everything.

i did the tutorial but something is wrong cuz when i created my own little sliding thingy and i put my mouse so it slides left or right on the right side it cuts off a bit when going infinite.I think its something to do with the positioning of my menu because its not on x=0 its on x=120.8 and i was trying to work out how to fix it but i'm stuck...and when i move the menu to x=0 it works nicely.
I am having an issue with my recently created flash site. I have loaded and tested this site on many different computers. There is a preloader which shows percentage of site loaded and bytes loaded. As far as I am concerned everything works great. When the owner of the company I designed the site for goes to check out things he gets an infinite load percentage and the site never shows up, only the preloader screen with an "infinite" percentage. The only difference between his setup and mine is he uses AOL online.?
View 5 RepliesThe project I'm working on has a massive background image (800px wide by 2585px tall) that slowly scrolls upwards. Before, I was using the code [URL].. I modified the code to scroll upwards, but in addition to having a weird intermittent bug that occasionally displays a pixel-tall blank line after the image and before looping the next, it really doesn't seem to handle dynamic loading well (I've tried using several different preloader scripts and it breaks all of them), something that may not have been an issue with the initial implementation but is now that I'm using a monstrously huge image.
Thus, my question: a. Is there another bit of free, Flash-based infinite scroll code floating around that has support for lazy-loading background objects (Say, the existing background chopped in 6)?

First, I'm having issues with loading ID3 tags. I can load the tags of the file currently playing, but how could you load the tags for a playlist that is selectable? The MP3 player runs on an XML file that holds the URLs to the MP3 files themselves. All other information is extracted from the ID3 tags. Do you have to load all of the MP3 files to get at their tags? Or can you JUST load the tags themselves? Will it slow down your stream? Etc...how best to build a playlist from ID3 tags.
Second, I'm having issues with the playlist buttons themselves. I need to build dynamic-text buttons that, upon clicking, will play that file. The play-on-click functionality I can do...but I can't seem to make them "clickable."
I'm trying to load some XML into flash to populate some dynamic text fields. The problem I have is that some of the xml tags seem to be ignored by flash.Here's the XML I'm loading:

I'm importing an XML document into a flash movie. The XML is using HTML tags so that I can highlight certain words and use HTML links in the text field the data is being loaded into.
But the issue I'm having is that all of the < and > tags and all information within it being displayed within the text field.
The text field's html property is true. The text field's multiline property is true. In the XML document, the text that I'm having load into this text field is separated by the CDATA tag so that it doesn't get parsed out.
I just can't figure it out. Before I used the CDATA tag, I put all the necessary < and > tags in place, and I'm getting the same results.
I don't know why everything is being displayed even though I'm rendering this text as HTML.
Is there a way to load ID3 tags in AS3 without loading sound?

What I'm most concerned about are the line breaks in the xml file. Because I don't want everything to be written in one line.

Except, that I would like to add a Custom tag, like "randNum" so that the tag user could input some number, or rather, a flash movie could generate a tag with a number already put in...Basically, heres a really basic version of the idea.There is a Flash Movie.In the movie, you can input text into a textfield.Upon finishing your message, you click a button "save".
The flash movie then:
1. Comes up with a random number unique to the message.
2. Assigns that number to a variable... "randNum".
3. Saves message as a xml file to the server as "filename" + randNum.
4. Outputs into a textfield a generated HTML tag that a user can post on myspace and such so that it will load in the flash movie.
Except... in the tag, there will be a custom attribute. If the random number variable "randNum" was 00112233, the custom attribute will be 00112233.
EX:
<embed src = "somefile.swf" width = "550" height = "400" randNum = "00112233">
So when the movie opens, it retrieves that randNum from the tag and can use it inside flash. How can this be done? Sorry this post was so long, but I wanted everyone to understand the concept.
How would you defer loading of other graphics on the page until after the images in a Flash gallery's images.xml file are finished loading?Is there any way to detect for this, or would I only be able to check if the flash swf object is finished loading? I'm pretty sure the swf object would be loaded/ready as with document.getElementById('flashobject').onload = function(){}; before the corresponding images have loaded though, instead of after.

View 5 RepliesGot a really big problem here. I keep on getting "NetConnection.Connect.Failed" when I load a .asc file on my main.asc file, i use the method load() in my code. I really don't understand why this happens, but when i comment out the code that loads the asc file, I can successfully connect to fms. I can't figure out what's happening here. Btw, i'm using fms4 in windows 7 32bit.

I want to do this because my main file needs the SWFs to be ready to go once its done loading. I have looked around and i found a few ways to do this with the "if (loadedBytes>=totalBytes)" and the code loops back till the files are done loading... this would be just what i need but i cant seem to get it to work. the file just seems to start loading my files but does not loop and just runs the time-line even once i state what frames i want it to loop.

I'm using NoChumps zip library to extract files from a zip. In this library the entire IDataStream is loaded into memory and after that you can extract file entries easily. In cases where the zip is 5 to 10MB there are no problems. But when the zip is 80MB, which many are, 80MB is loaded into memory. This causes the app to crash and run slow on mobile devices. According to the zip specification,
"A ZIP file is identified by the presence of a central directory located at the end of the file, this allows appending of new files. The directory stores a list of the names of the entries (files or directories) stored in the ZIP file, along with other metadata about the entry, and an offset into the ZIP file, pointing to the actual entry data."
Also, I do not have control of the size of zip files but most average is 60 to 100MB. Files inside are ~4MB.

I have a problem loading remote XML file into SWF file. Im doing a banner for a client with adds that is supose to load constantly updated XML file from my clients server and load some images into flash form it. Everything works fine when i test the movie (CTRL+ENTER), but when i publish it and test it from explorer, XML file is just not loading into flash.
View 7 RepliesI have problem in loading multiple swf file into a main swf file. I will state the things clearly at first. I have a main Index file to which i have to load some swf files which i have placed in a seprate folder. I tried to load those movies to main swf file using loadMovie it worked well when i give the exact path of the swf movies in subfolders. Aslo it worked when i placed the entire swf files including the Index file on a single folder, this worked only on my local machine suppose if i copy those entire folder to some other Computer and tried to run the Index file it doesnt works if it is in an single folder it works. The thing i need is the Index file alone has to be placed on the main folder and rest of the Swf file has to be placed on sub folder so when i run the index file it has to load the required swf file from sub folder this even have to work when i run the application on some other computers.

Like just give an error: infinite for loop or something? And this happened to me a bunch when working with for loops within for loops, when I accidentally used the same variable for both loops, so of course it never ended and crashed flash.
View 2 Replies[URL] I'm using 2 .swf files. The Main.swf file loads the portfolio.swf file when you click on the Portfolio tab. On the portfolio.swf page I have 4 buttons that go to different frames on the portfolio.swf file The buttons do not work when you click on them and I have no idea why.
