I'm writing an AIR app that reads from, and writes to a local JSON file. I'm using the File and FileStream classes. It works perfectly on Mac, but on Win7 it's not saving. Does anyone know of any platform-specific issues or tips for the .writeUTFBytes() method?

I have a table which contains 3 columns, "itemid, xcordinate, ycordinate", in this different records are saved, now i want to have these records on a JSON file, when use click save button, all records present in the table(2d array) save in JSON file.

I'm working on a Flash AS2 application that needs to post JSON data to a web service.In previous projects, I've used LoadVars.send() or LoadVars.sendAndLoad() successfully to manage this:

In somepage.php, I can grab that JSON data using $_POST['data'].However, on this project, the developer of the web service requires the JSON content to be the BODY of the request (i.e., not a name/value pair). Is this possible with LoadVars?

I have to work with webservices in Actionscript. I found the following code that allows me to use JSON URLs that implement only the GET method. However, it doesn't work for POST methods (doesn't even enter the "onComplete" method). How can i "POST" JSON data using Actionscript 3.0?

I have a json file on my server.[URL].. If I type the url into a browser I get a page not found error.
If I set the url of a http service to the path of the json file the httpservice wont load it.
Is it possible to load a json file in this way or does the json file have to be the result of a server page request eg: [URL]..
I am by no means a Flash power-user but I am accustomed to labeling layers instead of leaving the default "Layer 1, Layer 2, etc."Now that I have Flash Pro CS4 I am unable to do that with any effectiveness. When I double-click on the default layer name, that field should become editable. The problem is that it's only editable for a split second. Unless I type a character as soon as I lift my finger from the second of the double-click - I dont get to edit that field.

The CS4 media encoder was quite a downstep from the simple and solid one in CS3 in terms of usability and stability. In Vista I had to deal a lot with crahes here and crashes there depending on file formats or number of passes, it could rarely get things done. Now I upgraded to Win 7. But this time I can't even encode ANYTHING. It always crashes and gives me this error: Adobe, give me a version that WORKS for all that loads of money I paid you over the years!

View 1 RepliesI need to parse a large trace file (up to 200-300 MB) in a Flex application. I started using JSON instead of XML hoping to avoid these problems, but it did not help much. When the file is bigger than 50MB, JSON decoder can't handle it (I am using the as3corelib).
Try to split the file: I would really like to avoid this; I don't want to change the current format of the trace files and, in addition, it would be very uncomfortable to handle.Use a database: I was thinking of writing the trace into a SQLite database and then reading from there, but that would force me to modify the program that creates the trace file.
Can any one provide me with an example of how to encode data and pass it to a php file using JSON and flash?

Read a local file (JSON format) into the AIR app. Parse through the file. Display some selected contents in a grid.
That's it.
I've found an example that does some simple JSON parsing in Flex, but the problem is that it loads the JSON source from a remote web site.
So do I need to load any file-specific libraries to make this work in AIR? Or can I simply refer to the file by using the Mac file-path? I just want the local file to be the JSON source. The parsing is already taken care of.

So I've tried to build a small utility to view the contents of a JSON file in an easy-to-understand manner (for non-tech people).I have Googled far and wide, high and low, but every example that shows how to consume a JSON file in Flash Builder uses the HTTP service, pointing to a file on the web.Here I am, sitting in front of my MacBook, wondering why I can't make this work. In the documentation I've found (sort of relating to this issue), they always show Windows examples, and they seem to work fine:That doesn't work. View 1 RepliesI have a HP tx2500 tablet pc. I put the beta of windows 7 on it several months ago and had no trouble (64 bit). The service period expired, so I wiped it and put the windows 7 RC on it (also 64 bit). This has caused me problems with photoshop and flash (both cs3) as they will not recognize touch sensitive input! (aka when i press hard the line gets darker). In photoshop the option is set but nothing happens, in flash the button for touch sensitive input has simply disappeared, there is just grey where it used to be. I updated windows all the way and updated my flash and photoshop as well.

step1- I got an xml that is locally loaded(works fine)
step2- the content goes into a datagrid that is displayed (works fine)
step3- In AS3 I dynamically add some lines to this xml file(works fine)
step4- I save it locally (works fine)
step5-and want the datagrid to be updated..(works not-so-well)
So, in step 4, the data is saved into the xml file, but in order to finish the save, the user has to click on the "Save as" windows in order to have the file updated of course.. and that's where's my problem, how can i tell flash to wait till the user actually saves the file, before reload the xml file in the datagrid ? here's the code :

When i save the file as an .swf file to view it in my browser the video gets really big (sized the flash document 250x240 px) . How can i easily control my flash video sizes?
another thing: When im doing a video and work with things that are outside of my white document (in the gray area) for instance things that are to be faded into the document and so on. These things also show up in outside of my video when i view it in my browser.

Problem:When saving the file, the "Save As Filetype" drop down is empty and end users can accidentally delete the swf file extension in the filename.How can we lock down the extension so it will always have SWF in the extension?
Technique 1? Set "Save As Filetype" to SWF by default.
Technique 2? Click "Publish as Flash". User specifies the filename. File is saved on the server. User presented with prompt to download file. File is downloaded from the server using the traditional browser windows explorer dialog box (the same dialog box if I downloaded a program from cnet's downloads.com)
Is there a any way to create a txt file in as3 and save reports in that file?
